PIK Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) OTTAWA -- Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney kicked sand Tuesday on NDP claims that Conservative economic policies are stifling job creation and growth. Some NDP members on the Commons finance committee tried to bait Carney into rubber stamping their daily line in the House that Prime Minister Stephen Harper has mangled the economy during the ongoing global downturn. But Carney, who wears a second hat as chairman of the financial stability board for G-20 countries, said Canada is weathering the storm better than others hit hard by the European situation and a sluggish U.S. recovery. He said that while belt tightening, austerity measures and spending cuts have different impacts from sector to sector, it's to be expected. "That's frequently the case in an expansion in a recession and subsequent recovery. Some sectors are affected differentially." On the job front, Carney said the 430,000 jobs that were lost during the 2008-2009 financial collapse have been recovered and that an additional 380,000 jobs have been added to the workforce for a total of 810,000. The vast majority of jobs "¦I think almost 85% "¦ are private sector jobs and most of them are full-time." http://www.sunnewsne...030-211004.html When it comes to the economy, the NDP know nothing. Guest Derek L Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 And that right there is why the Liberal Party of Canada will “rise from the ashes” and be reborn a viable alternative to the Conservatives………….The NDP is just scary and I wouldn’t trust them to run an established 7 Eleven. Quote

It is so funny , that the NDP uses pages number's as god's word over carney, but then turn around and complain that pages does not get the right info to do his job. The libs will be back to 2nd place and the NDP will be back to where they belong, sitting in the back row with Ms May. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
Moonbox Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 They really need to get the message. Nobody trusts them with the economy because they can never make any sense of it. If they held more rational views then maybe economists wouldn't laugh them off every time they say anything. Smallc Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 They need to learn from their provincial counterparts...or at least, a former one. The Conservatives thought so much of Doer that they hired him. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation rated him one of the most fiscally conservative premiers in the country the year he retired. Quote
WWWTT Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 then maybe economists wouldn't laugh them off every time they say anything. Are you talking about the same economists who created the last recession? Ya usually when a quak creates havoc through their incompetence, you dismiss their opinion a lot more easily. Moonbox Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 The economists created the recession? Hahahaha! You have about as good an understanding of the world, if you're having a good day, as a 10 year old does. Yes, he was part of the exclusive club I like to call, "The Real World." It's a shame the federal NDP is so stuck in lollipop land. PIK Posted November 1, 2012 Author Report Posted November 1, 2012 The NDP will learn in time, but they are far from prime time. Mulcair will take them more to the centre, and then they will eventually start making sense. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

login Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 There is no recession there is just a downturn in wants. People have what they want. Overproduction is a bad thing in the big picture. While it is true overproduction is good for resource driven economies like Canada, being a solely resource driven economy is a bad thing. There are no recessions just bad uses of labour. There are plenty of things people can do, but the REAL problem is is monetization of the economy. A real measure of economic success is based upon peoples needs/ and wants - demands being met. That is all that matters. Are there unmet demands... if those unmet demands are work then put people to work. But it is clear that the problem is monetization of the economy, and for us to end idiotic paranoia about economic success we must destroy the monetary system. Like the Americans only with purpose and intent. Quote
