French Patriot Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 (edited) Apparently as recent as 2010 where was applied to some sort of psychic/witchcraft scam. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2010/09/15/brampton-witchcraft.html Section 365 of Canada's Criminal Code outlaws "pretending to practise witchcraft, etc.," as one of the offences that deal with false pretences. Would this law not outlaw all the religions based on fantasy, miracles and magic? Please say yes. If so, I am looking for a lawyer immediately who wants to take such a case. DogOnPorch Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Religion is a scam, but it also builds community as long as it is reasonable to folks (ie not giving up the first born male to Baal). Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
French Patriot Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Religion is a scam, but it also builds community as long as it is reasonable to folks (ie not giving up the first born male to Baal). Reasonable is quite a stretch of that word. Do you see a lot of reason and moral community building in the following? It is my view that all literalists and fundamentals hurt all of us who are moral religionists as well as those who do not believe. They all hurt their parent religions and everyone else who has a belief or not. They make us all into laughing stocks and should rethink their position. There is a Godhead but not the God of talking animals, genocidal floods and retribution. Beliefs in fantasy, miracles and magic are evil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HKHaClUCw4&feature=PlayList&p=5123864A5243470E&index=0&playnext=1 They also do much harm to their own. Sleipnir Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 Many laws in Canada are outdated and useless... New Brunswick: -Driving on the road is illegal B.C: -illegal to kill a sasquatch Ontario - Oshawa -its illegal to climb trees Ontario - Ottawa -its illegal to eat an ice cream cone on bank street on Sunday That's just few out of hundreds and hundreds of worthless stupid red tape. login Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Blasphemous lible is a type of hate speech. Sections 318, 319, and 320 of the Code forbid hate propaganda Section 319 prescribes penalties from a fine to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years for anyone who incites hatred against any identifiable group (for example GYPSIES) " Section 320 allows a judge to confiscate publications which appear to be hate propaganda." Curious because god calls for the extermination of the Edomites (genocide) in the Torah and Bible, and calls for the extermination of the Jews in the Khoran (genocide)... better confiscate all those books huh.. hmm god would get up to 5 years in Canada, or is that Blasphemous lible to call god a crook? he did reform after the flood and moved from drowning to fire and brimstone to sociopathy as a means of exterminating identifiable groups he wasn't down with. Or would god be unconvictable due to that supremacy of god thing in the constitution. Hey its not like it is White Supremacy or nothing, god loves Jews like his own children in the Jewish version of gods message. In 2003, in Saskatchewan, the Crown charged David Ahenakew with wilfully inciting hatred because of the remarks he made about Jews to a reporter. In 2005, the Provincial Court convicted Ahenakew, and fined him $1,000.[4] In 2008, the Attorney General for Saskatchewan decided to retry the matter after the conviction was overturned on appeal. On 23 February 2009, Judge Wilfred Tucker of the Saskatchewan Provincial Court said Ahenakew's remarks were "revolting, disgusting, and untrue," but they did not constitute "promoting hatred." [5] In Canada (Human Rights Commission) v. Taylor, [1990] 3 S.C.R. 892 at 902, the Supreme Court said hate propaganda denotes any expression that is "intended or likely to circulate extreme feelings of opprobrium and enmity against a racial or religious group".[6] The Supreme Court of Canada, by a bare 4-3 plurality, upheld the constitutionality of section 319 in R. v. Keegstra [1990] 3 S.C.R. 697.[7] Edited October 28, 2012 by login Quote
