Still, Baird spokesman Rick Roth said in a statement that “officials have assured us that no taxpayer funds will be provided to Human Concern International.” And, the money isn't going to Human Concern International (HCI)... instead its going to Canadian Relief for Syria. This organization may work with HCI, but that does not mean that it is part of HCI. Quote

So the money is going to an organization that may be working with an organization that Osama Bin Laden said was a front for Al Qaeda and has some suspicious connections. Quote
Smallc Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 No, the money isn't going there. They've pulled it. Quote
PIK Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Leadership at it's best. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
kairos Posted August 17, 2012 Author Report Posted August 17, 2012 He about turned after saying that the govt did a good job of vetting it hmm... Quote
bleeding heart Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 I think PIK meant "leadership at its best" no matter what Harper does. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver." --Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007
PIK Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 I think PIK meant "leadership at its best" no matter what Harper does. They had a idea ,threw it out there and made the proper decision. That is leadership. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

PIK Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 You don't think you're fooling anyone, though, do you? Of course not, harper gets no thanks for whatever he does. How the left dumps on every move is disgusting. Harper could have a plan to pay all debts and give everyone a million dollars and the left would whine, cry and bytch about it. And probably take him to court. There is something I wonder how much the NDP has spent on witch hunts . It seems every couple of weeks, on a back page of a newspaper is a story of another aquittal, of another witch hunt. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
MiddleClassCentrist Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Who did Bin lay? Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.
Fletch 27 Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 Another example of a job well done by the Tories and a lesson could be had by the other parties in investigating PRIOR to handing out millions. Im sure the lefties on here would be happy if we just handed the 2Million to the Khadr family upon his proud return... Quote

Im sure the lefties on here would be happy if we just handed the 2Million to the Khadr family upon his proud return... man it's thick in here today! Was the, uhhh... touted "leadership": - the initial, obviously lacking, due diligence?... or - the initial media blitz that emphasized the significant due diligence... that actually wasn't?... or - the overriding failure to use existing established organizations with a proven history/track record?... or - the blaming of the initial selection decision on civil servants?... or - after initial criticism begins to come forward, and only then, pull the funding/selection? pick one or multiple of the above as they may apply, hey?
