Guest Derek L Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 did not realize there was also Harper Conservative PMO and Ministerial oversight/engagement in both those other tee-vee examples (I assume that's what they are) Well not Cops, but Serve and Protect "shadowed" RCMP detachments......... Smallc Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) In those examples (Serve and Protect) the local authority would have had to sign off most likely, and in the case of the RCMP in Surrey, probably someone in the federal government as well (it is after all a federal police force contracted to do local policing in the case of Surrey). Exactly....Though I don't watch said shows really, I've no problem with a program showing our tax dollars detaining non tax paying workers that take the jobs of legal workers well also driving down said legal workers wages........I would hope, but not holding my breath, that the developers and employers were also detained..........In the UK, such folks that hire illegal workers are fined and shamed in the public eye. GostHacked Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Huh.... You think they could see neighbours exchanging drugs/guns? Take a look at the map. Across the street is USA. With no fence whatsoever. Drones aren't going to catch much.... These drones are fitted with hi res cameras. You don't build a drone without having the ability to see in detail what is on the ground. Guest American Woman Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Good. Do you know what they were up to, or do we have to wait and watch to find out? Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 No, they just get stopped by the agents in a car and are taken into custody....the TV drama was probably created by the producers and good editing. This show has spawned some controversy because it discloses means and methods, which apparently differs somewhat from the long established border interdictions with Mexico. My take on this is that the U.S. is ramping up capabilities for the US/Canada border and it is more sensitive because some in Canada think they should not be subject to the same surveillance as are Mexican nationals. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2013/03/12/secret-national-security-measures-showcased-in-discovery-channel-northern/ Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Wilber Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 It seems to be a case of schizophrenia. It seems the Canadian and US governments are also discussing increasing the amount of time their citizens can stay in the other's country to seven months without tax implications. Not holding my breath but I've just spent 3 months in the the Riverside county area of California and have been thanked numerous times by merchants for coming down and supporting the local economy.
