stopstaaron
That would have suprised me more. Anyone paying attention to France, rocognizes the significant rise of Islamic anti-semetism in that country, and Europe as a whole. It's easy to understand why people are anti Jewish, it's also easy to understand why people are anti Muslim It's easy to understand why people are anti Christian and anti west Quite frankly I try not to waste my brain power giving a damn about any of those, religion and religious culture is pretty much useless to me and it's useless to the world Until you people figure this out you'll just be killing each other for no reason, have fun
jbg
I wasn't surprised either when Neo-Fascists were suspected. Even though there are only a handful of these folks, they appear to be tied to violence by police officials. Anything to avoid honing in on the obvious suspects, since plenty more violence can be expected from that direction.
jbg
I've never understood why Jihadists were so obsessed with blowing themselves up when they attack the west when its easier just to get guns and go on a shooting spree more people would die and people would be so scared if it happened quite a bit Except that if they are perchance arrested they can shoot their mouths off as to who's leading the effort. Whether that is Israeli governments occupying land, Islamic terrorists killing innocent people, or Western governments invading countries. It always seemed overly simplistic to me. Michael Hardner
It always seemed overly simplistic to me. I agree... I would say that the one thing that unites them is the desire to kill and possibly the belief that killing is a good way to solve problems... stopstaaron
I know, but that still doesn't justify it. Avenging the death of loved one's is a human condition. It really doesn't matter what we think if we haven't lost a loved one in one of those senseless acts.

j44
I don't think we could understand fully.. if somebody killed a person I loved (on purpose) I would hunt that person down and make them wish they were dead I'm not saying I understand a victim's feelings but another person's actions don't automatically justify any form of harsh 'justice.' And my original point was not just directed toward victims and their families/friends. It was toward anyone who harbors anti-(fill in the blank) sentiments. bud
It always seemed overly simplistic to me. agreed. one of the reasons for this problem is that they want to understand those in which they don't really know without really making a real and genuine effort. instead, they fill in the blanks with superficial and usually negative images of them and then paint a broad stroke. stopstaaron
another person's actions don't automatically justify any form of harsh 'justice.' That's just my personal view. I don't believe in life after death..it would be nice though! Our bodies decompose into the dirt. Our spirit and conscience dies. I wish I believed in life after death because then what we do in this world matters and the people that commit those heinous crimes pay for it. But I believe in justice. Not justice as in you go to prison and get fed for the rest of your life justice. Justice as in eye for an eye. I change my mind on this often though..so my opinion might change tomorrow or the next day Edited March 22, 2012 by stopstaaron
Guest American Woman
I was surprised that the killer was an Islamic militant because I thought Muslims were being targeted, too; it was said that there was extra security at both Jewish and Muslim schools. At any rate, I'm so glad that this is over before any more deaths occurred, and so glad that the terrorizing is over for the people of France, particularly those living in the Toulouse area. What a tragedy for all involved.
bud
if someone, who was fully aware of their action, murdered a family member, as an individual, i'd want them dead. however, society needs to be better than the individual. What is possible for pedophiles should be possible for trainee terrorists and their supporters, too.” French law calls for up to two years in prison and C30,000 (roughly $40,000) in fines for repeat visitors to child porn sites, although whether the proposed anti-terror rules would carry similar penalties isn't clear.
