stopstaaron Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) This is the most insane Abortion bill I've seen to date. All kinds of bad will happen as a result of this if it is passed. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/19/tennessee-abortion-bill_n_1363410.html A new bill moving through the Tennessee House of Representatives would require the state to publish the names of each doctor who performs an abortion and detailed statistics about the woman having the procedure, which opponents worry will spur anti-abortion violence in the state. The Life Defense Act of 2012, sponsored by state Rep. Matthew Hill (R-Jonesboro), mandates that the Tennessee Department of Health make detailed demographic information about every woman who has an abortion available to the public, including her age, race, county, marital status, education level, number of children, the location of the procedure and how many times she has been pregnant. Each report would also have to include the name of the doctor who performed the procedure. The House Health and Human Resources Committee is expected to vote on the bill Wednesday, and Odom said he expects it to pass in the GOP-dominated House. It will then move to the state Senate, where Republicans are also in the majority. Edited March 20, 2012 by stopstaaron Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
Bryan Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I have to laugh at the opposition of such a move. Some people think they should have the absolute right to privacy, but won't even afford the basic right to be alive to unborn children. The hypocrisy is staggering. Quote

The U.S is crazy when it comes to the pro life crowd. Sure we have crazies up here but not too many. The doctors whom perform the abortions in TN will be in danger from vandalism, arson, assault, murder as well as their families. I find it rather disturbing that this bill is called "The Life Defense Act" when it will lead to the murder of these doctors. Edited March 20, 2012 by stopstaaron Quote Don't ban me bro. bush_cheney2004 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 In Canada, they call them Morgantaler Clinics. At least the Americans call them what they are! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
stopstaaron Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 In Canada, they call them Morgantaler Clinics. At least the Americans call them what they are! Okay, but do you have any opinion on this bill? Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
bush_cheney2004 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Okay, but do you have any opinion on this bill? Yea, it will "die" in committee. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Shady Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I think transparency is a good thing. Besides , it's not a secret whether or not a particular doctor performs abortions. All you have to do is ask them. Quote
stopstaaron Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 Yea, it will "die" in committee. The republicans could push it through, they have the numbers..however the superior court will strike it down Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
stopstaaron Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 I think transparency is a good thing. Sometimes it is. But when you're dealing with abortion in the south..it can be life threatening. Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
bush_cheney2004 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 The republicans could push it through, they have the numbers..however the superior court will strike it down It's an election year....not killing babies is a winner for Evangelicals. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
bush_cheney2004 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Sometimes it is. But when you're dealing with abortion in the south..it can be life threatening. Abortion itself is life threatening. As for "the south", violent attacks happen "in the north" too: Canada Tightens Security at Abortion Clinics After a Shooting Published: November 10, 1994 Security was tightened at Canadian abortion clinics today as police officers searched for clues in the shooting of a doctor who had been the target of anti-abortion protests. The gynecologist, Dr. Garson Romalis, was seriously wounded on Tuesday when two shots from a military assault rifle ripped through a window of his house in Vancouver as he had breakfast. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Shady Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Sometimes it is. But when you're dealing with abortion in the south..it can be life threatening. Like I said, knowing whether a particular doctor provides abortions is already available. Quote

Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
Shady Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Good point BC. Abortion itself is life threatening. Especially to the unborn baby receiving a scalpel to the back of the head. Quote
stopstaaron Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 Like I said, knowing whether a particular doctor provides abortions is already available. So why is this measure in the bill then? Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.
bush_cheney2004 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 1994...You couldn't find one that occurred in the last 17 years? Should I look for one? Quebec doctors won't even perform third trimester abortions....they get sent to the USA (Kansas of all places). Some other provinces have low access and services for abortions...errr...Morgantaler Clinical Services. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Shady Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 1994...You couldn't find one that occurred in the last 17 years? Nope. That's how rare it is. Quote

In 2000, the Tennessee State Supreme Court ruled abortion is a right protected under the state constitution I don't think murdering abortion doctors is protected by the TN State Supreme Court Quote Don't ban me bro. stopstaaron Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 Nope. That's how rare it is. Yeah..in Canada. It happens more down south. Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.

bush_cheney2004 Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 In 2000, the Tennessee State Supreme Court ruled abortion is a right protected under the state constitution The State of Tennessee can't make doctors perform abortions, as they also have rights. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
cybercoma Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I think transparency is a good thing. Besides , it's not a secret whether or not a particular doctor performs abortions. All you have to do is ask them. Yeah. Let's have your "stats" published everytime the doctor tells you to turn your head and cough or checks your prostate. Hell, why not make all medical records public? No need for privacy. If you're not doing anything wrong you shouldn't have anything to hide. Quote

Rights can still be regulated. They are all time. Quote
Shady Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Yeah. Let's have your "stats" published everytime the doctor tells you to turn your head and cough or checks your prostate. Hell, why not make all medical records public? No need for privacy. If you're not doing anything wrong you shouldn't have anything to hide. That's not what's being proposed. Complete patient privacy isn't being changed. You don't know what you're talking about, as usual. Quote
