olpfan1 Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) In Question Period, the Conservatives presented information that shows the Liberals had several contracts with a call centre located in North Dakota in the last election to make calls on the part of Liberals. One contract alone amounted to over $25,000. Consider the information in the following Feb. 25 media article. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Fake+election+callers+blitzed+ridings/6208851/story.html If the Conservatives held contracts with that North Dakota call centre, I doubt they'd put their necks out by presenting that info in the House. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the calls coming out of North Dakota were the result of glitches in the lists of supporters Liberals turned over to the call centre and the call centre cocked it up. Throw in Elections Canada changing poll locations, some 127 in total across the country, and what you end up with is total chaos. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/pushing-back-on-robo-calls-tories-blame-liberals-for-electoral-mischief/article2355453/ There you have it. Um no, the Conservatives got Prime Contact Inc mixed up with Prime Contact Group This was established minutes a go Edited March 1, 2012 by olpfan1 Quote
scribblet Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 How so, link ? http://www.newstalk1010.com/NationalCP/Article.aspx?id=324323 OTTAWA - The Conservative party says it didn't use U.S.-based call services to get out the vote in the May election, but the Liberals did. The Tories say that means they can't be behind allegations of harassing phone calls originating from American area codes during the last campaign, but maybe the Liberals were. Many people have reported receiving strange calls — some from American numbers — during the May election that either misled them about polling stations or came at odd hours. Elections Canada is investigating the origin of calls made in the riding of Guelph, but a stream of people from other ridings are also complaining about suspect calls. Several can reportedly be traced to U.S. numbers. "The Conservatives only use call centres based in Canada," said party spokesman Fred DeLorey. He said the onus is in the Liberals to prove the calls aren't connected to the dozens of contracts that party has with its own calling firms. In question period, Prime Minister Stephen Harper challenged Interim Liberal Leader Bob Rae to produce his evidence about the robocall accusations. "We've done some checking," Harper said. "We've only found that, in fact, it was the Liberal party that did source its phone calls from the United States. cont.. at link Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
olpfan1 Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 Scribblet that is all misinformation Prime Contact which is a Canadian firm hired by Volpe is based in Canada and does not outsource to North Dakota Quote
olpfan1 Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 The accusations led to confusion, however, centred around three call companies with similar names: Prime Contact Group, based in Canada, and Prime Contact Inc., based in North Dakota. Harper said the third company, First Contact, routed its calls through the U.S. But, as CBC News reported during the election, First Contact owner Mike O'Neill said someone was "spoofing" First Contact's numbers — projecting a fake caller ID — to impersonate his company. CBC News conducted its own experiment and found dozens of online companies and services that allow users to creat bogus caller IDs and faked display phone numbers. It takes just seconds and can be done for just pennies per call. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2012/03/01/pol-robocalls-elections-canada.html Quote
olpfan1 Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 lol the cpc held a briefing with 6 media organizations about this "lpc hired american companies to robocall" but it ended up making them look retarded because the companies had similar named what a bunch of idiots, they really thought they had something rofl Quote

Whatever, the Conservatives screwed up, Bob Rae has already handed over the information that shows they hired Prime Contact Group and not what the Conservatives accused them of(hiring Prime Contact Inc) Quote

olpfan1 Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) Either that, or the CPC is trying to get to the bottom of things as well since they're probably not thrilled with the accusations being hoisted their way. Nah, they were too happy to point out it was the liberals responsible .. that is until they were made aware of their mix up Harper was the one who made the claim.. guess he never thought to google or call the companies Edited March 1, 2012 by olpfan1 Quote
olpfan1 Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 Just like the oposition members failed to read Elections Canada Report which states: There seems to be more than one party or individual who is all to happy to point out inaccurate claims...
