Argus Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 When your x trillion dollars in debt, the writing is on the wall. The debts have to be paid or the bond vultures start circling or worse your money is worthless. So reverse the stupid Bush tax cuts. That'll be a heckuva improvement. Argus Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Funny thing about sweden, they elected a centre right govt which has job creation as its priority, no stimulus spending and tax cuts. Now why would sweden be copying us? They're not. A few targeted tax cuts don't equal what that idiot Bush did with his massive cuts to taxes combined with his massive increases to spending. Argus Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Yes, Paul Ryan is so wealthy that he sleeps on a cot in his office in Washington to save money: http://www2.macleans.ca/2012/08/13/10-things-we-learned-about-paul-ryan-this-weekend/ Highfalutin or what The term I'd use would be 'idiot'. He has lots of money. Therefore, if he's sleeping at work, he's either doing it because he wants to pretend he doesn't... ie, he's a liar, or he's one of those screwballs types who can't stand to spend money, and die, leaving it all to their cat, never having gotten a chance to enjoy their money. Shady Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 So reverse the stupid Bush tax cuts. That'll be a heckuva improvement. That still doesn't save Medicare or Social Security. And that still doesn't stop those programs taking up 100% of the federal budget in another 10 to 15 years. They have to be reformed. What about that do you continue to not understand? Quote

Argus Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Economist Simon Johnson wrote in 2010: "The U.S. government doesn’t take in much tax revenue—at least 10 percentage points of GDP less than comparable developed economies—and it also doesn’t spend much except on the military, Social Security and Medicare. Other parts of government spending can be frozen or even slashed, but it just won’t make that much difference. That means older Americans are going to get squeezed, while our ability to defend ourselves goes into decline. Just because there’s a bipartisan consensus on an idea, such as tax cuts, doesn’t mean it makes sense. bleeding heart Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 It's really scary how the entitlement mentality has so permeated our societies. No kidding. As the number of people holding the most wealth shrinks, while their wealth increases....and then the top-down class warriors screech louder and louder about how this tiny percentage is being increasingly victimized....yes, the entitlement metality is pretty obvious indeed. bleeding heart Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Who cares if Romney and Ryan are millionaires? It's irrelevant. Part of the defense for these men is that their wealth and "business sense" somehow magically prove them ideal for high office. So your argument is with their supporters. Guest Derek L Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Ryan sleeping on a cot! I see your RNC/Fox News talking points are all lined up... of course, that Harry Reid Ritz Carlton dig has been getting full-on RNC assault play in recent weeks given Reid's attacks against Romney to release his taxes. Release your taxes Mitt! (and, apparently, owning a 2nd-floor one bedroom condo at the Washington D.C. Ritz Carlton, in RNC math, equates to paying $400 per night "at the Ritz Carlton Hotel"). So Reid owns a condo in a luxury Hotel? Ritz Carlton Residences Let's see, a second floor condo goes for : 1 bed | 2 bath | 1015 Sq. Ft. $749,000 Why Mr Reid's part time residence costs more then Mr Ryan’s family home.....My question, how does a life long politician afford a luxury crash pad? Now it seems from a quick Google, Ryan, Biden and President Obama all fell roughly into the same general financial standing as career politicians……comfortable, but hardly Romney living……Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Yours is simply the parroting that initially came through when TeePartier Sharon Angle tried this very tact against Reid during the 2010 election. Reid's actual home is in the small mining town of 800 persons in Searchlight Nevada... described as 'modest'. Perhaps you could fire up your goggly to find us some pics of Reid's Nevada home... with appraised value to boot! As I said, this has again come forward in recent weeks (hence your renewed Fox parroting) given Reid's attacks on Romney refusing to release his tax returns. Release your tax returns Mitt! Now it seems from a quick Google, Ryan, Biden and President Obama all fell roughly into the same general financial standing as career politicians……comfortable, but hardly Romney living……Not that there’s anything wrong with that. oh! That's why you touted the "supposed" austere life-style of the cot-sleeping Ryan, hey?... while asking, "isn't the frugal Ryan just what America needs right now"... and then doubling down by presuming to contrast Ryan to Reid and his, "$400 per night at the Carlton"! Wasn't that you? Quote

Sorry you lost your right to pretend you know anything when you proved you make statements that are false just because you can get away from it. Biden didn't require a residence in DC because he rode public transit every day for 2-4 hours because after his children's mother died in car accident he swore he would be there to put his boys to bed every night. That is the type of man Biden is. Stop trying to paint him another because he didn't use his position as a Senator to cash in. Instead he lived a modest life on a modest salary deal with it. Quote

He sure seems to own a good chunk of mineral rich land out there in the desert: http://pfds.opensecrets.org/N00009922_2011.pdf And look at this: Surprise! Harry Reid Refuses to Release His Tax Returns Reid isn't the only one to play hypocrite on this issue. Nancy Pelosi, who has called for Romney to release his tax returns, also refuses to release her own.Facing questions about why she and other top Congressional officials won’t release their tax returns, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) downplayed her previous demands for presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney to release his, calling the issue a distraction. As recently as Wednesday, Pelosi had strongly urged Romney to provide further disclosure of his tax returns. But today, while maintaining Romney should release more documents because of “custom” and “tradition,” Pelosi said the issue was trivial compared with economic issues. “We spent too much time on that. We should be talking about middle-income tax cuts,” Pelosi said after answering two questions about the issue. Quote

Waldo, why wont Obama release his college records? what do you think he's hiding? If you had to guess. you keep lying - Rmoney has only released his 2010 return and, again, it's incomplete in terms of all IRS forms that reflect upon his offshore holdings. Why do you continue to perpetuate this falsehood? Oh, that's right... you're Shady! you keep beaking off about the IRS (presumably), "seeing Romney's returns every year". You are continually rebuffed as to the significance of this. Why don't you astound us with your astute Shady insights/knowledge on what, as you say, the IRS (presumably), "seeing Rmoney's returns every year" means? What is the significance of this continued bleat of yours Shady? Quote
waldo Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Waldo, why wont Obama release his college records? what do you think he's hiding? If you had to guess. I don't believe he's formally been asked by the Republican party, by the Romney campaign, to present his academic records from decades ago. But again, no American ever running for U.S. President has been asked to present college records... by the by, if you're not aware, requirements to run for U.S. President do not include a college degree/attending college. as for your 'guessing' games, there is intense speculation that the Obama campaign is waiting with baited breath for an official request to come in... something about the elevated play a retort along the lines of "if we release the college transcripts, will Romney release his tax returns?", would bring. I implied you could go crazy with speculation that Obama is either a dummy... or he received benefit related to affirmative action. I trust MLW member, 'punked's' reply to you dispensed with the speculation on Obama, "being a dummy". Does that leave you with affirmative action? Release your tax returns Mitt! Quote
