A substantial chunk of the revenues that companies make gets taken as tax, yes. Their profits get tax by the corporate tax, the money they pay their employees gets hit with income tax, the dividends they pay out get hit with dividend tax, the money people make investing in their stock gets hit with capital gains tax, the equipment they purchase to run their operations gets hit with sales tax, and the land and facilities owned by the company are subject to property tax. Then decide that luxury is a must and buy a nicer car to drive to get more money to get more oil to put in the car to get more oil....makes sense to me! It's not if they like it or not - the big machine that we live in is out of control. Oil is like the blood in a huge urban monster...we have geared just about everything towards the utilzation of this fluid - the more we burn the more we want - If oil companies were greedy that would be another problem - how can someone suffer greed if they have more than they could ever dream of - it is what it is and it's not pretty.
