This is one of the most bizarre comments you've ever come out with, and you've hatched some doozies.
Capricorn, click on the link to your post to read what I posted. It was no "doozie".
Only in the minds of the military sycophants.

What he is, is someone who is employed by and whose expense account is paid for by me and the rest of this country's taxpayers.

As such we have the right to demand he quit needlessly wasting our money for his own personal benefit.

Agreed. And without irony, he should not have the right to use my money to make himself feel important. Edited by August1991

You seem to be projecting something of yourself onto him. He doesn't have to use your money to feel important, he in fact is important. You on the other hand, probably aren't nearly as important in the grand scheme of things.

If we are so interested in governmental waste why start with the CDS...why not start with the bigger problems in our country...why not start with the problems that will actually make a difference in our taxes....Starting with the CDS seems like we lack imigination , seems like we can't even take the time and come up with our own ideas and forms of protest, instead of jumping on the media band wagon, on a problem that really is no bigger than a mouse compared to some of the elephants that linger around soaking up most of our tax dollars.....must of been a slow news day....and like typical Canadians we feed on what we are force feed....does not sound like we want change at all, sounds like we are to damn lazy for change....

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

In political terms, how can Harper start with the CBC if Canada's military brass is flying around with their family in a Challenger?

Army Guy, our governments can no longer spend the way they do. If our politicians and bureaucrats continue to spend as they do now, we will not have a western civilization in the future.

AG, this has to change. If we don't change it carefully now, it will change catastrophically in the future.

In political terms why not start with CBC, if the times are getting that desparate then perhaps it is time we look at major savings and not one general flying around doing his job, or perhaps taking a well deserved rest from it...so what does the CBC provide Canadians, other than Hockey night in Canada, little mosque on the praire... Do we need them to preserve Canadian indentity, hell we had this debate long ago on what is the Canadian identity and most said we could not define it....So we watch more American TV...although i do like the new show Rockie blue....

What about the other programs welfare and unemplyment insurance, fixing our health care system....why are people not bringing up the big issues ....issues that are in my opion a waste of tax payers funds....I'm sure others can find some others....and yet my orginal piont is we are Canadians and we will bitch but in the end we will do nothing....thats just the Canadian way....sure we'll slap someone around for awhile, pick on the small guys but we turn a blind eye to the big problems....

Army Guy, our governments can no longer spend the way they do. If our politicians and bureaucrats continue to spend as they do now, we will not have a western civilization in the future.

The western ciivlization will always be here, it just may be under a new form of government...which i personally think would be a good idea, but perhaps not feasiable until it is forced or melts down...

AG, this has to change. If we don't change it carefully now, it will change catastrophically in the future.

So lets change it but lets start with the bigger problems and as it changes the Gens will change with it....

Natynczyk's family did not fly in the Challenger.

Care to start again?

Now you get my point, bambino. If this is the debate, then you lose.

----

And more broadly, you lose. Politicians and public servants cannot continue to spend money this way.

Something that cannot continue forever will stop.

Wny not start with the CBC? And let's see how your general and his jet defends himself against Peter Mansbridge.

Or perhaps that I should say, in deference to bambino, let's see how your general defends allegations that he took his mistress on Challenger flights.

-----

Sometime in the near future, we in Canada will be in the position of people in Greece. Then what? What will your general say?

Peter is going to have to defend his job by convincing Canadians that Canadian content or protecting Canadian identy is worth the tax payers money we spend on it...

Now it is his mistress man this gets dirtier ever minute....

Sometime in the near future, we in Canada will be in the position of people in Greece. Then what? What will your general say?

I guess he'll say "is this seat taken Ma'am" when he takes the grey hound bus....but until then why not use the assets available to him which cost the tax payers money even if they sit on the ground, because we want pilots to maintain their qualifications...which means flying..not a DND rule but a governmental one...change the rule and poof you have a case...of course we also have pilots that may not be up to par...but hey we are saving money and guess what the Gen is finding another mode of transport....maybe a F-18...maybe his bike...

I say we start with welfare....and stomp out all those that don't really need it....or uneployment....to seasonal workers...who only made 150 k last year during the lobster season....and spends the rest of the year on pogy...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

I agree with your fundamentals on this one but Greece has problems for different reasons.

It's closer than the ignorant right wing think it is.

I love how the Conservatives in here are crying foul about people daring to question the very same waste they used to rail Liberal governments over and how their military boy should be entitled to his entitlements

It's called 'judgement'. Look it up some time. With maturity comes the ability to tell the difference between the need for people like Harper and the CDS to fly on private jets, and the unhappiness at hordes of MPs and cabinet minsters jaunting around the world on constant holiday.

In fact, I think Jean Chretien - the man the Left cries itself to sleep over every night because he's gone - set the records for both use of jets and for continual holidays.

There are people who have important jobs and there are, well, people who post on web sites, pretending that those other people are no more important than they are.

They are, of course, totally wrong. Just because some ranter on a web site is unimportant doesn't mean everyone else is.

And by almost any definition, the guy who runs the military is important.

Of course, if you're one of those rabble types who sneers in contempt at anyone in uniform, then naturally, you think he should be taking a bus wherever he goes.

Alas, he doesn't. Because he's important.

He, like Harper, has to travel by government jet. That's the end of the story. You can complain as bitterly as you want but it's not going to change.

You've stated that people like Jean Chretien need to be flown around on private jets and then invoke his name to take a shot at him?

Oh wait...what you're saying is it's only acceptable if it's your kind...

Hypocrite.

None of these pompous over rated politicians or waste of skin army jackboots need to be flown anywhere on a private jet paid for with taxpayers money for their personal benefits.

But you're too hung up with your hero worshipping of them to see it.

One day you'll wise up.

Alas he doesn't because he's got gullible sheep like yourself who fawn over him and think he's entitled to his entitlements.

But truth is, he's not important. He's only made important because the warmongering right wing and military lackeys want him to be.

You are of course the one who is, completely wrong.

They're not?

So we're not talking about the Wally's taking the private jet and being flown around the world with his mistress on the public's dime?

Gee, I guess Herr Harper's bilking the taxpayers so he could fly himself and his cronies to Boston to see a hockey game never happened either eh?

Jesus...you're living proof that Goebbells was right, tell a lie enough and the brainwashed will believe it.

I say we start by axing the bloated military's budget. Not wasting money to have all new uniforms, logos, signs, letterheads etc made up to change the name back to something it was decades ago.. Then we should look at closing and consolidating these bases..Nobody needs a Petewawa, Borden, Gagetown and Edmonton...

But first and formost, stop allowing the waste of tax dollars so today's video game junkies get the chance to go play GI Joe in real life...

Troops should only be used in a combat mission when they are defending this country's borders.

Do you have any evidence that the CDS was “flying around the globe” with his mistress?

And do you understand what libel is?

Libel

What is defamation?

Defamation is communication about a person that tends to hurt the person's reputation. The communication must be made to other people, not just to the person it's about. It can be spoken, which is called slander, Or it can be written, which is called libel. It can also be a gesture, which is a type of slander.

The law protects your reputation against defamation. If someone defames you, you can sue them to pay money (called “damages”) for harming your reputation. You have to sue in Supreme Court, not Provincial Court, and you have to sue within 2 years of the defamation. For more on the court system, check script 432, called “Our Court System and Solving Disputes.” You don’t have to prove that the people who heard or read the defamation actually believed it. Even if they knew it was false, it can still be defamation. Courts realize that lies can take on a life of their own.
