Yup. Its a little known fact that just about half of all Canadians are of below average intelligence.

The Canadians just sum things up by telling us they are....not American!

You have to stop doing that. A Canadian is part of a very old royal organization called the commonwealth. We are in league with a number of nations - and all those nations put together are bigger and more powerful than our American sister to the south...I have yet to distinguish what gender America is  ....okay that was just a little poke ....America in general fails to understand that when she left the common wealth and set up her own buisness and empire - that she might in time have to come home. Whether America likes it or not they are still social climbers - every last President lusts for the privledge and ecceptance of being at the Queens table - and there is nothing wrong with that - What's a revolution or two between friends...America and Canada are brothers by different fathers but share the same mother. We have no clear identity up her in Canada other than we are a league of nations that are still tied together under the crown.

AND as you see - our silly attempt at putting an American style harold over our military forces was just a bit of bad and useless pandering - As you see - we have taken down that sign and put up the original...The Royal Canadian Air Force ..etc....so maybe you can sell us a few nice jets - and an aircraft carrier or two before those miserable crooks in China build another slope decked junk.?

But you thought that it was so OK denigrating Americans, that you started a thread about their alleged - by you - mental inferiority.

It was provocative but not constuctive - you know that as I do - so why open a wound - I could have sworn that the matter was closed - we have stupid people on both sides of the boarder. AND - we also have brilliant and good people on both sides of the boarder - also we have some like you who just don't get the diplomatic part of the relationship - matter closed - use you instincts once in a while...do you see any trace of the thread? I don't - some good and useful censorship has taken place _ I thank the mods.

Let me go on the record and say that I abhor censorship of any kind, anywhere, anytime, having come from a formerly Communist country. Or, at least, if it must exist on these forums in order to maintain civility, the censors, aka moderators should have the decency to issue a statement why a particular post or thread met their oh, so wise disapproval.

Your removed thread got me incensed beyond belief. I worked and lived in the States for six years, and know for a fact - learned by experience - that that thread was pure poison. I managed to stay off that thred rather than respond saying what I thought about it and you.

Having said that, I agree with you: This topic should be closed. When the uber-patriotic Canadians feel the urge for some good old fashioned Yankee-bashing, they should first explain why they would prefer to be neighbours with Russia, China or France.

The monument on the BC/Washington border says it all. Let's not be enemies when we have been friends so long and let's look in the mirror sometimes before pointing fingers.

Excellent post. Thanks. Both countries are very fortunate at the good relationship we have. The US/Canadian border is 5500 miles long including the border with Alaska. Imagine if the neighboring country were an extremely hostile one and resources had to be poured into defending it.

What former communist country did you live in?

Sure...just as soon as you stop doing that. America is a bastard child that you say is intellectually inferior, but Americans don't have an identity problem.

You really don't know the answer to that?? Do you wonder if Native Americans are natives? or American? And are you confused as to the citizenship of English Canadians too? French Canadians have you baffled as well?

Being a Canadian, I guess I need people like you to tell me what to think. Just sayin.

Hmm, since the natives were already HERE in America, they are indeed Native and American. Africans were considered 'imports' and probably subject to some kind of tariff or tax when imported to the USA.

And are you confused as to the citizenship of English Canadians too? French Canadians have you baffled as well?

Quebec is a baffling province to tell you the truth, even to the rest of Canada. But don't take my word for it.

Nooooooo.... "being a Canadian" isn't the reason you need people like me to tell you what to think. Just sayin. ;)

So, are they African or American? Or are they simply black americans?

"I am African-American"

- 'Oh, what part of Africa?

"Connecticut".

Sorta like -

"I am a French Canadian."

- 'Oh, what part of France?'

"Quebec."

Now see if you can figure it out ............. My money's on you! :)

Fail. French is a language. And they rather call themselves Quebecois, not French Canadian.

I'm not referring to Quebecois - I'm referring to French Canadians. And they don't live just in Quebec. Change the last answer to "Ontario" and see if that helps you figure it out. And fyi, the reference isn't to the language.....

I guess you really do need people like me to tell you things. :)

Thanks for that reminder, DoP; it's as I've been saying, the U.S. has hit hard times before and come through. That editorial is just a much needed reminder that there were those in the world thumbing their noses at the U.S. back then, too - so it's nothing new now. It's even more heartening because the reminder comes from a Canadian - two Canadians, actually - you and Sinclair. Thank you. :)

That means they identify with the french language while being Canadian. As I am English-Canadian. I have a German heritage, but I am no more German than any other person born in Canada. While blacks in the US call themselves African-American, then they are not african at all, if they are born in the USA. But you can be PC if you want and call them African-Americans.

Canada = multiculturalism

USA= melting pot

And they don't live just in Quebec.

You don't say!!!!

Actually it is referring to the language. People who don't speak french will not classify themselves as French Canadian.

I guess you really do need people like me to tell you things. :)

Again, French is a language, and spoken by other people in many other countries.

Sinclair's effort actually spawned his own and another hit record back for Byron MacGregor in 1974. Proceeds were donated to the American Red Cross.
