I'm just wondering how you could watch those videos and actually support these hippies? I assume you have to be a hippy yourself.

For the record, there's plenty of reasons why these protests are retarded earlier in the thread. We're not gonna repeat ourselves when the best the hippies and you can come up with as a retort is "who are you protecting!??!", "whose streets??! our streets!!!", and other asinine chants and arguments like that.

Suggestions are welcome of course. When the police are beating on people it's hard to think calmly I'm sure.

This one's good

The time to think is before the police start beating on you. For instance, carrying Ziploc bags of urine and feces to throw at the police and storefronts is an example of non thinking.

So when people in other countries protest against their governments, that is ok? But when it happens in your own country you call them hippies?

For the record, Wall Street is robbing the country blind, and you don't seem to have a problem with it. Guess what, you are on the same side of the fence I and the rest are on. They don't give a shit about me and they surely don't give a shit about you either. But that is not a problem to you?

Saying something doesn't make it true. You aren't scaring anyone except for other paranoid tinfoil hat wearing hippies.

No the existence of an industry is not scaring me. If you don't like it, then don't use it. I'm not about to go protest the hemp and bong-making industries for creating a generation of hippies who waste the country's resources protesting the boogeyman of the day. I just won't buy hemp and bongs.

You don't buy newspapers or books either. Ignorance is bliss ehhh. Just keep going to your conservative/neoliberal support group to receive your talking points and thoughts.

Protesting both. Gov bails out Wall Street and banks and financial markets. But some willingly ignore that to make their argument more solid.

How is wall street robbing the country blind?

Guess you have not been paying attention.

Well soon enough it will affect all of us. Keep living in your dream world, it will be the only thing you have left soon enough.

If one wants to to business in America, it happens in part through Wall Street.

You can't smoke hemp to get high, rolled, bong or otherwise.

Why don't you take a look at who makes up the American Government. Government and Big Business has had an incestrial relationship for too many years.

"Incestrial"....really? But either way, the American Government is not Canada's Government. Go find your own "incest".

This is exactly why "the right" doesn't bother arguing about these protests. The best you can do to explain how Wall Street is "robbing our country blind" is "I guess you haven't been paying attention". You guys have no idea what you're protesting, Wall street is just the hippy's latest boogeyman.

The video of the protestors showed just how ignorant and self-important you hippies think you are. Chanting "who are you protecting?!?" as if the 100 of them were the only people in a city of 10 million that matter.

You can't smoke hemp to get high, rolled, bong or otherwise.

Who said anything about smoking? Don't worry, I'm not a "pig" trying to bust you for smoking illicit products. Quit being so defensive.

Let's talk about one specific incident at a time here. The girl that was fenced in and maced was not carrying bags of urine and feces.

Try again?

For the record, Wall Street is robbing the country blind, and you don't seem to have a problem with it.

And they've been robbing the country blind for 3 decades. Since the Savings & Loans scandal of the early 80s, the banking industry and Wall Street "executives" have caused billions of dollars in losses. They have stolen exponentially more than all of the street crime thefts combined. These criminals are rarely prosecuted and when they are it's not likely that they will get a conviction. Those that are convicted haven't come anywhere near paying back what they have stolen. Enough is enough.

Because the United States operates in a bubble, right?

Quite to the contrary...US companies own a major chunk of Canada's corps, but not because the "US Government" is "incestrial"...maybe it's your own government you need to look at.

The far right's tendency to resort to insults seems to me to betray a lack of the social intelligence so critical to living in a diverse society.

It's a fear of unusual circumstances and human differences I guess. The young protesters, however, show a wealth of social intelligence and the ability to conduct themselves well as a group and as individuals under difficult circumstances. Those are the kind of people employers want to be hiring, if they have any smarts at al l.

Just like Wall Street, the far right conformists see no options but to keep on doing what they've been doing, hoping for a different outcome.

The protesters are savvy enough to see that it's not working and to tackle the big issues that need to be addressed so we can all get out of this failure cycle.

Kudos to them, and razzies to those who can't see the writing on the wall: You are the problem; they are the solution.

A wealth of social intelligence and bags of urine. A deadly combination.

Might news organizations’ reluctance stem from the fact that most of them are owned by the large corporations that are publicly traded on Wall Street? It’s hard to explain otherwise. After all, polls show that many Americans would be interested in the marchers’ arguments. A Pew Research Center poll shows that “nearly half of Americans — 47 percent — say Wall Street hurts the nation’s economy more than it helps.” According to a Bloomberg poll, a whopping “70 percent of Americans say big bonuses should be banned this year at Wall Street firms that took taxpayer bailouts.” In another poll conducted by Lake Research Partners, 77 percent of respondents approved of tougher rules for Wall Street. Seems like viewers and news readers would enjoy having a look at these protests

...

Is it fair to wonder, as some have speculated, that the occupation is subject to a “media blackout”? Does the protest deserve greater, wider coverage in the United States, such as it is getting overseas? Good questions all. Perhaps the best comment yet was from Keith Olberman — and quoted in a post to the website of FAIR: Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting — “So, five days of clogging downtown Manhattan, protesting corporate control of the economy, and you haven’t heard a word about it on the news? …

There is more news now, still not MSM though. Pretty profound effect the protest is having it seems. Very strange behaviour by ALL MSM, who have now clearly revealed that they are controlled by Wall Street.

Ummmm...yea...that's why they are called "mainstream media". As in owned by large corporations with financial interests. Are you really surprised by this?

Oh I almost forgot - you are for maintaining the status quo of ruthless pirates - murderers and crooks in general....and those that get robbed protest...and YOU think that complaining about being ripped off is not nice - Well maybe your whole nation has taken one of them anger management courses - and one is expected to lay still and not complain as they eat your leg? Nawh BC ---- when some guy in a suit makes a billion....and some other guy makes nothing...something is wrong - as the rule in the Russian Mafia states - everyone gets paid...That's called honour.

Decades of outsourcing, no investment into education, university tuition fees skyrocketing, wages staying the same, while the cost of living is drastically increasing.

There are 10 million more Americans below the poverty line than there is people in all of Canada.

Who says it has to be a different outcome....money still changes hands as usual...except for the unemployed "poor" protesters!

The money is changing hands indeed, and being consolidated into entities like the World Bank and IMF.

Indeed, and they tell you what the story is. Regardless of it being truth or fiction.

Is it really any mystery why people would be protesting against Wall Street? Bystanders at one march last week -- sympathizers, tourists, office workers taking a break -- looked pleased to see fellow citizens finally objecting to the kleptocracy that's been ruining so many lives. Everyone knows why the occupiers are there. The financial markets helped drive the housing bubble, the collapse of which led to the Great Recession. Income inequality is at or near record levels. If the occupiers have a slogan, it's "We are the 99 percent" -- referring to the fact that the richest 1 percent of Americans has been gorging itself at the expense of nearly everyone else.

Most Americans endure staggering unemployment, foreclosed-on homes, worsening work conditions and languishing public services -- while our politicians coddle the biggest winners of our recklessly unregulated casino of a financial sector.

Like those who gathered in Tahrir Square, those occupying Wall Street are disgusted with the elite and its ownership of the political and economic system -- and they want a better future.

...

the long lists -- whether of fuzzy abstractions or eclectic specifics -- are beside the point. With so many out of work, and tax policies that treat rich people as if they were rare birds in need of environmenta protection, the only surprise is that it's taken so long for the citizenry to take to these particular streets.

Well-wishers from around the globe have ordered so much pizza for the Wall Street occupiers that they've had plenty of extra food to donate to the city's growing homeless population.

It's growing, in spite of - or because of? - the police crackdown.

We all know what happened to Russia...no thanks. Go buy a suit, even if it's a used one.
