According to the Free Press poll, the NDP have jumped 12 points and are tied with the Tories and well ahead in Winnipeg.

I guess blaming the flood on the NDP isn't going to work as well for the Tories as they thought.

The NDP has been very good for Manitoba. We have had huge improvements in our infrastructure after years of neglect by the Filmon Tories. We also remember Filmon's promise not to sell MTS that he broke. We remember that screwy hughy was Filmon's right hand man at the time too. I don't think Manitobans are going to give Hugh a chance to steal Manitoba Hydro too. We also like that our public auto insurance actually repays us if it turns out they collected more in premiums than they needed to settle insurance claims. The NDP has invested in our health care instead of laying off thousands of nurses like the Conservatives did. We were largely unaffected by the economic downturn due to good NDP fiscal management. Change Government???? Fawk Hugh!

The Manitoba NDP government is useless. Manitoba is going nowhere. The city of Winnipeg is a dangerous dump. The only good thing Winnipeg has going for it is the return of the NHL, which the NDP had nothing to do with, despite what Selinger wants the minions to think.

Excellent examples of how the tories' platform is to, in every case, deny reality.

Now of course, I can't vote agains the NDP:

http://news.gov.mb.ca/news/index.html?archive=&item=11883

For me, this, along with the other major announcements in Winnipeg this week, win elections.

Of course it will, there are ridiculous restrictions on election advertising here, and this wave of press releases is free advertising which benefits the incumbant.

We will have to see how bipole III influences voters as does watching what's going on in boom town saskatchewan with its tory gov t.

Struthers won by a hair last election vs the unknown, given his stupidity on ag issues, he is toast as are the ndp in rural manitoba.

The NDP will win the North and Winnipeg. They'll be just fine.

It depends if the tories can get the word out on bipole III to south winnipeg when election time comes. It will be hard with the draconian regulations of election advertising at election time.

Isn't that all they've talked about since well before the last election? I think people understand the issue and how the tories are trying to mislead them on it. That's why they lost the last election.

The Manitoba election is going to be an interesting one to follow. It will be determined primarily within the City of Winnipeg.

Isn't it always? There aren't many swing ridings outside of Winnipeg. Lac du Bonnett and Gimli?

Yah Manitoba's deficit is around 8% of spending Shady not 45% its unemployment is 5% not 9%.They can actually grow their economy out of debt with out new revenues. Maybe if you could grasp that sometimes things are different and are not black and white you would get it.

Love that deficit math that doesn't mention the disproportionate transfer/equalization money(billions, every year) that MB gets to 'balance' its budget off the sweat of others.

The government should do something.

Somewhat similar to what the states in the USA obtain from their central government.

No it doesn't measure transfers and equalization because those are what we call Revenues. Why would I include revenues which get rid of deficits in my math about how small the deficit is?

I get it Albertans love to talk about how ripped off they are. Call me when you pay the East off with interest for building you a rail road so you could be a province ok? How about the federal subsidization to drill your wells, and build you infrastructure? I get it, it was cool to be part of Canada when it helped you but when it doesn't you hate the country and how it is run.

Wow. You really have a one-track mind, don't you? Tell us again how the NHL will never return to Winnipeg.

Growing their economy will provide new revenues. Hey, you're a supply-sider! Welcome aboard!

Why not just raise taxes punked? You could solve the deficit immediately. It's only around 8%. Raise taxes on the upper bracket. Why don't you practice what you preach?

Funny, the rest of the country calls them expenses.

I got a 'loan' from my uncle last week, , I think I'll call it revenue too.

Manitoba is a dead weight on Confederation, maybe the US will take it.

The government should do something.
