There was a few I was unsure about, I wasn't sure who to put in Immigration. As well John Williamson is someone who I think needs to be added. Mom and dad in the suburbs could not possibly care less, and it was going on long, hysterical rants over crap like this which got the Liberals so little public support. So...the "liberal" press who are concerned about Canadian complicity in torture are "hysterical...elites," but those who defend or support such practices are...not "elites"? I doubt he'll get it but there's probably no one else within the party with his qualifications, Martha Hall Findlay has also said he she be Minister of Foreign Affairs. There are many different directions that the government has to go, all at once. That's far too time demanding. People talk about the small US cabinet, but, their cabinet doesn't include some of the same people that ours does (under secretaries aren't included, where as ministers of state and secretaries of state are). Read Andrew Coyne's article in Macleans, Britain has 23 and Australia, Germany, Japan, Frnace, and New Zealand all have 20 or less. Good for them. We aren't them. I can see some of the duplication disappearing, but there are many regional and focus considerations. Things like finance and treasury board can't be combined. Things like Foreign Affairs and International Trade are better apart. Do we need a CIDA minister? Probably not. A seniors minister? Probably not? There are about 10 easy cuts from the cabinet. Cutting more than 14 ministers would be nearly impossible. Really, we only have 27 ministers though, The Ministers of State are positions to ease people in and out o cabinet, not a bad thing. We have two National Defence Ministers now....I think that speaks to something that will be happening. More for the military, and I'm not complaining.
