BubberMiley Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 I think the first rule of stealing someone else's copyrighted work is to make it unrecognizable from the original. The CPC doesn't even seem to try in this case though. It seems the main difference is it isn't nearly as good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGXGwr3nr7g Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet
Bryan Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Is Harper Plagiarizing Tim Pawlenty's Ad? They both look like a thousand other "movie trailer" style ads. Quote
BubberMiley Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 Really? If that's so, it might be a fun game to find more. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

He is stealing he is stealing from the formula that movie trailers, there is a clear cut formula for these things that is what this is. Here is the one for I am Legend and another one for Oceans. Can you believe Harper stole them? You do know when the Gov of MN put that out their were 1000 Internet articles talking about how it was a movie trailer right? Edited April 6, 2011 by punked Quote
BubberMiley Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 Sorry. Not even close. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet
bush_cheney2004 Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Not the same.....no moon shot....no black people. T-Pah's can't be that good anyway...Michelle Bachmann is beating him in the polls...even in Canada! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
punked Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Sorry. Not even close. Considering the Gov's had shots of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the first moon landing, footage of historic figures like Martin Luther King and Muhammad Ali. I would say Harpers is not even close except for the fact they are both movie trailers. Talking pointsmemo has already covered that the Gov's trailer isn't anything new. So how about you take up with a Polk award winning news organization ok? http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/01/tim-pawlenty-releases-action-movie-campaign-trailer-video.php Edited April 6, 2011 by punked Quote
Bonam Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Yeah it does look similar in style. It's a good ad though. Quote

Do you honestly believe that the hack who made the CPC video didn't see the Pawlenty video first? Really? Shady Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Looks like the pro-Iggy supporters are getting pretty desperate. If you're saying that many political ads are cookie-cutter type fluff, then yes, I guess it's similar. If you're saying that Harper's plagarizing Pawlenty, then that's a pretty far reach. Sorry Bubber, you're thread is a flop. Quote
Smallc Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Did they copy the style of the ad? Yes....so? Quote
punked Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Do you honestly believe that the hack who made the CPC video didn't see the Pawlenty video first? Really? I am sure he saw a movie trailer before then in the summer when there was all the buzz about the Govs new add he saw that to and said "This is a great idea." However I don't get mad when the NDP tries to copy Obama's on-line campaign. I don't get mad when Iggy steals his quips from former US Presidential campaigns why would I get mad now? Seriously? BTW Iggy steals a lot from former Presidential campaigns so I hope you start a thread about that one. Edited April 6, 2011 by punked Quote
ToadBrother Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Did they copy the style of the ad? Yes....so? This is the part of elections I really hate, where everyone tries to put everyone else under microscopes and end up making the most pathetic and idiotic claims. It isn't plagiarism, people, and even if it was, it would probably be viewed as a spoof, and those are generally protected under copyright law. Now, can we have a serious topic? Quote
BubberMiley Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 Looks like the pro-Iggy supporters are getting pretty desperate. Sorry. I shan't be voting for Iggy. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

M.Dancer Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 What or which conservative ad is it supposed to be similar too? I haven't seen anything along these lines Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
M.Dancer Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Sorry. I shan't be voting for Iggy. Excellent. Nothing to worry about then and the fringe parties thanks you. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
