Jack Weber Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 I heard Mapleleafweb...........describe on the net as "A formally very popular site generated out of the bible belt of Canada" - that does not sound that bad to me. Wonder why this site went from popular to minimal? Could it be that liberals simply swarmed them into submission? This site gets described as.. 1.Heavily conservative at bedwetter.ca (rabble) 2.Full of socialists and Marxists at freakdominion (freedominion) That probably means it's the most well rounded political discussion site around... Oleg Bach Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 So basically you're saying is it's perfectly reasonable for the West to spit at the name of Trudeau. Good work. It's a bit of a blow to the perception that Calgary is full of gun-totin' Muslim fearin', abortion hatin' Bible Thumpers that everyone makes them out to be isn't it?? Calgary is the most boring place on earth - I worked there for a while and the only thing worth buy was their liquor...or a brunch in Baiff on Saturday morning. Quote
William Ashley Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) In reply to the OP: What liberal party? Is is 2011. 5 years later it is 2016. Ask youself what will Canada be like 5 years after Harper is at the helm with a Majority. Get beyond - no senate (or rather an "elected US senate"), no longgun registry, no public funding for political parties, no statistics via census, etc... Is the commons going to change house of Representatives and the Senate keep its monkier... no need for a PM I suppose when the president is calling the shots anyway huh? Afterall it is the US MIlitary and Police investigating Canadians, and setting who can enter OR leave the country. What else will transpire other than an addition 50 to 100 billion in debt. We know that the Perimiter Security Agreement allowing the US military and police to act in Canada would not be able to be stopped. 100+ Billion in US defence equipment would not be able to be stopped. What about Iran or North Korea, or any other war that is bound to happen in the next 5 years? Canada will undoubtedly be on the ground for both since Harper is hostile to both those governments. What about Libya, after softening them up if Nato doesn't like the outcome, out of Afghanistan into 3 new wars? Hey its only 5 billion... the planes cost 16+ billion... - they cost more than every war that Canada would survive combined. NATO is clearly willing to use its might to topple governments it doesn't like.... There are US elections coming in a couple years... if a republican wins... the chances of a war sky rocket, slim pickings for those to figure out. Really ask yourself WHAT WILL THEY REALLY DO... and what are the effects. More prisons, harsher laws... (look how that worked in the US) California has to cut jail time in half because their jails are full. They are just rotating people through. Its not for rehabilitation, just for the experience. THE COSTS FOR THEIR PROGRAMS ARE IMMENSE FOR THE POTENTIAL EFFECT OR USE. High military spending is only useful if you are at war. It the conservative reality one where the Canadians are stretched for no home defence. Canada more than one war is stressed militarilty, that is partly why it wasn't in Iraq. War is not good when it is to take out countries that arn't actively threatening Canada, Canada is the belligerent. This is NOT a Canadian identity, it is an American one. THERE IS NO PROGRESS UNDER HARPER ONLY WASTE. USE IT OR LOOSE IT. chop chop chop, pocket pocket pocket. That is the CONSERVATIVE administration unrestrained. WHAT WILL THEY REALLY DO? ASK YOURSELF THAT! Having all the facets of an alien government with none of the benefits, such as a free democratic and enfrancised citizenry is not sound. It is the Harper Future. HARPER WANTS TO GIVE A LOWER CORPORATE TAX RATE TO US COMPANIES.. COME ONE COME ALL! REAP THE BENFITS CANADI... AMERICA. If I wern't CIA I would be pissed, Canadians should know better. Oleg Bach Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 When Iggy speaks at a gathering I like to view his crowd that stands behind him...slightly smug types that actually believe they are of the superior mind...because they have this "fine and brilliant acedemic" as their leader. Iggy will be to embarassed to go back to the U S with his tail between his legs......or will he? Seeing that the liberals have no concept of shame...he will probably hang on and muddle about writing a book on what he would have did IF he were prime minister. Quote

ToadBrother Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 You won't get that kind of constitutional change in just five years. How long has it been since Meech Lake and Charlottetown? It doesn't look like twenty years and change is sufficient. Quote

GWiz Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 If...You're a fan of the visiting team... Is there going to be a boat in the end zone at Mosquitoville Stadium this year?? Not this year, next year maybe since the NEW Stadium will be a whole lot closer to the river... But we've got that "floodway" thingy protecting us so it'll still just be the same old biplane... BTW, you guys getting that new stadium of yours that'll actually "fit" a team into it anyTIME soon? Your old ones gonna get "outlawed", you know, concusions from running into walls and all that... GWiz Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Please.... Bring back the boat!!! NO WAY! We're KEEPING IT! Too bad you're not playing a third (or was it fourth, yeah it was) string QB in your NEXT meaningful game against the BIG Blue, eh... I love how it has a bunch of quirks that no modern stadium would have...I watched Turner Gill's playing career basically get ended by John Priestner in a playoff game in 1984 by getting run into those walls... Moonlight Graham Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Justin needs another 10 yrs or so in the cooker before he'd be wise to run for leadership. He has a BA in English and B.Ed, and wiki says he's working on a geography masters degree. Nothing really related to politics there, except maybe environmental issues with geography and a bit of knowledge about the education system. If he were smart he'd wait to get more experience. Barring any big controversies he'd be a shoe-in for PM in a decade. I don't think he's his "own man" politically as some say, last time i heard him speak in the Commons he mentioned his dad, ie: something like "the proud Canadian tradition my father introduced" blah blah. He wouldn't even be an MP most likely if not for his pops. Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.

And Kiddo's JV team plays out of Ivor Wynne this year, too!!! Ya know what, you guys may have it right, city, prov., fed., funding to "refurbish" rather than build new... IF, the NEW Winnipeg Stadium was a fully enclosed stadium that housed BOTH the Blue Bombers and the U of M Bisons at the U 0f M campus as it will be, I'd be OK with that cause it could be used for a whole bunch of other things besides football year round... BUT, to spend as much money as it stands now to build an "open" stadium on the U of M campus and tear down the current Winnipeg (Canad Inns) Stadium which is way more centrally located than the new one will be all on the public purse makes no sense to me at all... Oh well, no point worrying about things you can't do anything about, eh... Sneak in a little extra padding in "kiddo's" helmet just in case it being Ed's err Ivor's place, eh... BTW, will Glen still be your #1 by game 3 this year? Oh, one other thing, we only won 4 games but still MADE money... You? Wild Bill Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I really like the new Calgary mayor, and I hate Trudeau. I dunno, RNG. Maybe we're being to quick to pick on Justin because of antipathy towards his old man. It would only be fair to judge him on his OWN merits! Also, as our life expectancy has added more than another 10 years it seems we've also added a decade to our time of adolescence. Young people seem to need at least 10 years more to reach maturity than the generation that put a man on the Moon! There was a time when many 18 year olds were flying Spitfires in the Battle of Britain. Now we see many 28 year old slackers still living in their parents' basement. If this is so, we really should wait until Justin is 50 before we start to judge him, or expect much of him either, for that matter! He may yet turn into a competent choice for PM, or at least for an MP. Or not! Still, he deserves the chance to make it on his own!
