Wild Bill Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I think the technical term is lawyer and maybe a contract Doesn't matter, Scrib. Because she was a Tory then she must be guilty of any heinous crime anyone can think up, period. No doubt she's a fascist! Saipan Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I think the technical term is "hush money". What is it called if Liberal Senator lives in Mexico (and no one notices for a year) but is paid as if he was working? Quote

DrGreenthumb Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I think the technical term is lawyer and maybe a contract Nice try, the Con-men said she quit her job, wasn't fired. She didn't even do her job when she was on the payroll, and you expect us to believe that the government is contactually required to give almost a half million in severance to someone who voluntarily quits their job less than half way through her contract? This is hush money. Quote
William Ashley Posted March 4, 2011 Author Report Posted March 4, 2011 oh my. There is a gag order involved. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/disgraced-integrity-czars-400000-severance-deal-includes-gag-order/article1930343/ Quote I was here.
The_Squid Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 From the Globe article: The audit also found that Ms. Ouimet harassed and berated her employees and sought reprisals against those she suspected of trying to undermine her.Although she was the person in charge of fielding complaints from federal whistleblowers – an office that demands an arm’s length relationship with the government – letters and emails obtained by The Canadian Press show she had tried to meet with Treasury Board President Stockwell Day and did meet with his predecessor, Vic Toews. She also met with top bureaucrat Wayne Wouters, against the advice of her predecessor, who warned she needed to maintain a healthy distance from the apparatus of government. And she exchanged emails with officials in the Privy Council Office, the bureaucratic arm of the Prime Minister's Office, about some allegations of wrongdoing. That's sickening. A government lapdog, not watchdog. Quote
August1991 Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 It's just taxpayer money. Maher Arar got $10 million. In a sense, both won lotteries. Our federal government issues cheques like this everyday. Here's a link to a list. (And please don't say that Arar was falsely imprisoned/tortured and his money is small compensation for his travails.) When you or I make a mistake, we suffer the consequences. When a politician or a bureaucrat makes a mistake, neither suffers any consequence. Taxpayers will always pay. Quote

Yes, because to state that Arar was falsely imprisoned and tortured would pretty much shatter your argument. I'll tell you this, if I was sent off to some prison based on crap information provided by my government, I'd be swinging for every I could get. He deserved it, not to mention a couple of free kicks at the heads of the CSIS bastards who put him where he was. Quote
Mr.Canada Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 I would volunteer to be tortured for a while and imprisoned if I could get $10 million afterward. This woman proved her case legally. CANADIEN Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 (And please don't say that Arar was falsely imprisoned/tortured and his money is small compensation for his travails.) Why? After all, it's true. Quote
CANADIEN Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 This woman proved her case legally. Oh, she went to court, claiming wrongful dismissal, and won? That's news to me and to most Canadians, including her I am sure. Quote

Once in a while, one reads or hear a statement that it can only lead to one self-question: "will I ever read/hear something that stupid ever again?" I am reading such a statement right now. Quote
Saipan Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 How stupid can $10 million be? Rodney King got whipped for $4 million. Of course he blew it and now the moron doesn't even drive a car. Quote
