waldo Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 does your Shady (unsubstantiated) claim that the CBC holds a Liberal bias, extend to also suggest that the CBC or it's ombudsman has never had to respond to Liberal party complaints/concerns over CBC broadcasting?OH! OH! OH! Show us that one Waldo!!!! keyboard was on standby; however, it appears Shady opted to buzzkill! I'm sure they have. In the same way that MSNBC gets complaints from Democrats once in a while. And in the same way Fox News gets complaints from Republicans from time to time. no challenge here, Shady... however, at your prerogative, I would most certainly relish an opportunity to read examples of the numerous (from time to time, you say), Republican complaints to FoxNews. Now, of course, you realize your examples can't include such complaints as FoxNews carrying too little Republican water, hey? Quote
Bitsy Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 A lot less... but by applauding I meant that they were applauding the misinformation in that piece, they seem to believe that Fox News isn't in Canada and or that SunTV is not coming to Canada - both are. Since I am the American who used the word applauding, while you used the word lapping, I want to restate my position, and correct your misconception about what I know. I applaud the fact that the regulation will not be changed. I am aware that Fox News is offered in some of Canada’s cable package just as I am aware that Sun News TV, after withdrawing their request for a must carry license, they were granted a license that is optional for cable/satellite to carry and will begin broadcasting sometime this year. Those are the facts as I know them to be. Quote
capricorn Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I'm watching the first broadcast of Sun TV. The first two political ads are Liberal ads. I'm sure the support is appreciated. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers

Smallc Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 As long as he's not pretending to be Michael Coren What he was doing was bad enough. It was one of the most disjointed things I've ever seen. He really isn't that good for TV...or radio...or print. Quote
M.Dancer Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I Watched. I was impressed by how amateurish it looked....the graphics, the talking head (theo caldwell?)the whole look and feel was upper end cable access. ....like a bloody car pile up I watched...and will again...I watched little mosque of the prarie 3 times...might as well give this 2 more chances.... I truly wish that was the case. The hour I spent watching it though, was horrid. guyser Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I truly wish that was the case. The hour I spent watching it though, was horrid. I hope they work out the kinks and find better commentators 5 minutes of Ezra was tolerable..... It sure seems amateurish, but with time I think it will rival A Channel Barrie's nightly news. Quote
The_Squid Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 As much as I disagree with Ezra Levant on 99.9% of all things.... he is right about one thing... freedom of expression. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hmwt07I3nqM I don't know if I get this TV station or not.... haven't looked. Quote
Smallc Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 5 minutes of Ezra was tolerable..... Maybe, but the hour I watched was far too much. The graphics are cheesy, the personalities are empty (other than maybe Adler) and the story lines and reporting style are such a blatant copy of Fox News that it isn't even funny. Quote

I hope they work out the kinks and find better commentators I don't generally watch CBC anymore, but there's nothing wrong with CTV News. It's the only place on TV that I go for news now. Quote

I generally watch the CBC morning news until the wife gets control, and then at 5ish Evan solomon's thing, which usually makes me want o through a shoe at the flat screen. And I finish with the Lang Oleary report, which I love. I don't like CTV...too jejune...or maybe I just tune in at the wrong times... Smallc Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I don't like CTV...too jejune...or maybe I just tune in at the wrong times... Well, I only watch CTV National News...but I get most of my news from the internet anyway. I don't think I'll be getting it from Sun News Network. Quote
guyser Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I don't think I'll be getting it from Sun News Network. Yeah, but there is a reason for that. I dont think they had even one news report in their first day. Quote
Smallc Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I dont think they had even one news report in their first day. They didn't. Today they made up their own news. It's crap. Quote

Some blogs I check out reported on their first impressions of Sun TV, which mirrors what you're saying - it looked and felt really cheap and low-end. At least the content is likely to be somewhat better. I think the only people that will watch it in the short-term are really committed conservatives who have simply lost patience with the the CBC and CTV. Shakeyhands Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Just watched the Caldwell Report and am now watching Adler... ouch, very amateurish. Seems as though they are towing the party line so far though. Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche

Mr.Canada Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 If you like it watch, if not don't watch. That's what the channel changer is for. Sure, it lacks some polish, I think some of the hosts have yet to look really comfortable but I think it will get better as we go along. It's only been on for a couple days it will improve in time as the hosts become more established and comfortable. Ezra's The Source is a great show already and will be the networks shining light going into the future.
