I think Harper is impressing people simply by being calm and reasoned, and not getting ruffled. He sounds and looks like leadership material - like an alternative. Martin, I think, often looks old, and he has that stink of a decade of broken promises, arrogance and corruption clinging to him.

what I find interesting is that almost as many people have turned to Duceppe as Jack Layon.

The man is looking like a leader. He's smart, articulate, seems to have the best interests of his constituents in mind, and is just pretty damned good at his job. I don't like the whole separtism thing, but this guy is good.

I was impressed by him too, but its easy to be as good as he was on the debates for many reasons:

1.) He worries about Quebec and only Quebec, he only wants to deal with Quebec issues, while the other leaders have the rest of the country to worry about

2.) He asked the same questions which dealt with Quebec, thats all he has to ask, he does not have to worry about asking questions from consituents in BC ridings

3.) He will never form government

4.) He is riding an even a bigger wave of anti-liberal resentment in Quebec

5.) He is a regional party and does not need to cater his message to anyone outside of Quebec

He has an easier agenda to achieve than the others and therefore has an easier time with the debates, not surprisingly he looked focused and was direct.

I personally think that Duceppe is the best leader. But I don't support the Bloc. I support Duceppe.

And as I take man's last step from the surface, for now but we believe not too far into the future. I just like to say what I believe history will record that America's challenge on today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow. And as we leave the surface of Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and god willing we shall return with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17.

One thing for sure, as Canadians are now seeing Harper and the Conservatives up close, they seem to be wanting to move away from him/them.

I think I may have to revise my seat projections. ;)

i'd like to see some posts about what people think may happen post election.

what i find interesting is that everyone has started saying which party they would not be coalitioning with.. which is the same as who they would be coalitioning with.

so harper will join forces with the liberals and the bloc are willing to join forces with the ndp? i think the ndp and liberals may see eye to eye on some issues as well...

either way i think that this election is going to give canadians more power and the left will keep the right in check. the ndp will have more power to raise hell about stuff like buying aircraft carriers etc...

What's to prevent the two right wing parties, the Liberals and the Conservatives from working together? I am sure Thomas d'Aquino is working out some strategy for that to happen right now.

The Liberals are hardly the right wing organization that Harper is. I would expect a Liberal New Democrat coalition would be much more workable. Harper is even too right wing for many former Progressive Conservative party members, MP, MLA, and Prime Ministers. Our BC Provincial Liberals, on the other hand, are very similar in ideas.
