This may be new to some, but this has been going on for decades and its probably the reason of a lot of the US recalls. If these guys are ID they will get fired. I just thought the guy telling the story didn't inform the cops, since he trailed them for several days just to get this story.

Or will they be offered several chances at rehabilitation that might span a decade in hopes that the invesment the company has made in this employee isn't pissed or blown away?

Well, I do know that a company in London, On. told a guy, you have a drinking problem so you need to go to AA or lose your job. He started the program but didn't finish and was fired. Since this is about the UAW and not the CAW or any other company in Canada it could be different results. BUT, these guys could hurt themselves or others and in some cases depending on what machinery they work on they or someone else could get killed and in that case, I would think the UAW would have to stand with the company and fire the guys. Clearly, these guys are addicted to alcohol and drugs.

BAIL OUT MONEY WENT DIRECTLY TO MIDDLE AND UPPER MANAGEMENT...The lowly worker got nothing - the companies took the money and did not ensure the jobs of the line people that built the companies...so forget trying to generate hate against the nobody ..beer drinking pot heads...maybe you should generate some hate towards the debauched...guys who got a million bucks in bonus that in eccense was stolen from the worker paying taxes - maybe hate those overly privledge rich f**ks that will take that big bonus and travel to Tialand to have sex with children because they have screwed everything else available to mankind.

Today, CKLW is doing a talk radio show on this and they are getting comments from both, US and Canadian auto workers plus others. Some US views said this it political by the Republican party because there are elections coming up in November and they are using wasted money to the Big Three and how the workers are. Could be. Others say it use to be that way but, now at least, in Windsor it isn't that way. Others commented on other workers like lawyers, doctors, business people going to lunch and having drinks with their lunch. I guess for those UAW workers it was the way their did it, drinking from a bottle in brown paper bag makes it look worse. It was other employees that told the media of this going on. The employees that were drinking were suspended with out pay, that is going to hurt.

UPDATE....13 were FIRED and two are on suspension without pay as of Sept.28th.

There is no reasonable answer to your question. In my opinion, these things happen naturally. We can't predict them.
