dre Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) OK...So,longterm...Over...say...the next 3 to 4 decades the Knesset will look more like the actual ethnic demographics of Israel.I could see that... Perhaps...But Hamas, and their "Kill the Jews" friends??? No no... The arabs in the knesset would represent Arab Israelis. Lots of Arab Israelis are patriotic... lots of them arent. Many of them are palestinians and so on. But youre certainly not going to get anti Israeli militants in there. On thing though re: Your point about South Africa. Like blacks in South Africa Arabs in Israeli are not proportionately represented in government. They make up about 20% of the Israeli population but only about 10% of the Knesset (those are the names I listed above). Edited August 12, 2010 by dre Quote I question things because I am human. Bonam Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Muslims in Israel have the highest birthrate of any group: 4.0 children per woman, as opposed to 2.7 for Jewish Israelis, a natural reproduction rate of 3% compared to 1.5% Israel will continue to exist as a Jewish state, or it will cease to exist. There can be no such thing as a predominately Arab/Muslim state of Israel, that in itself is an oxymoron. My prediction is that Israel (unlike Europe) will find some (non-suicidal) way of dealing with the demographic bomb. Quote

Most Arab Isrealis actually like Israel, its democratic instutions, standard of life etc. Theres only really one way to deal with the population bomb... that doesnt involve insane acts of evil (ethnic cleansing etc). Israel could give up some of the majority Arab areas to a future palestinian state. Places like Tayibe, Umm al-Fahm, Baqa al-Gharbiyye, and parts of Northern Israel. Unfortunately there IS actually a lot of support in Israel for ethnic cleansing as racism permeates their culture more and more. Quote I question things because I am human. Bonam Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Actually I think Israeli Arabs and Jews could probably live in relative peace. Most Arab Isrealis actually like Israel, its democratic instutions, standard of life etc. I don't know about "probably", but I do agree that it is at least "possible". A state consisting of majority Arabs and a significant minority of Jews could, perhaps, in theory, exist in some level of peaceful equilibrium. But, such a state would definitely not be Israel. Yes, Israel could give up some of these areas. Some of the plans for the creation of a Palestinian state involve trades of some of the Arab-majority areas within Israeli territory in exchange for some Jewish-majority areas in the West Bank. However, most such plans don't have much support. Additionally, many Israeli Arabs would likely not want to become part of a new Palestinian state and would rather remain Israelis. Unfortunately there IS actually a lot of support in Israel for ethnic cleansing as racism permeates their culture more and more. I think it is important to specify what you mean by "ethnic cleansing". There are different acts that can fit under this euphemism. For example, wholesale extermination of a population could be called "ethnic cleansing". But, a program of financial incentives designed to get people to emigrate from a certain area could be called "ethnic cleansing" too. The level of "evil" of these two acts is not comparable. While the immorality of the first is unquestionable, there could be some valid debate in regards to the latter. In general, I have rarely seen the term "ethnic cleansing" used constructively. Generally, it is used by opponents of a certain regime to invoke images of genocide and extermination camps when, in fact, what is actually going on is far more benign than that. Quote

Youre right... encouraging emmigration through financial incentives is not the same kind of evil as slaughters them, or forcing them out. Its still pretty bad though IMO if those policies target a specific racial minority. I also think that its highly unlikely it would ever work on any substantial number of people. bloodyminded Posted August 12, 2010 Author Report Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) A poem by a so-called victim whose leadership extends back not only to Nazi Germany but the Central Powers of WW1. Way to pick a side. The poem is about not killing, about not seeking revenge, about not resorting to violence at all; about compassion and sympathy for one's enemies. You're such a fanatic that you even consider peaceable Palestinians who say they shouldn't resort to violence...as the enemy! Or was the poem just too difficult for you? I was called a neo-con asshole When I've said the problems of the Middle East are about Islamofascism, not Islam itself... I was called an Islamophobe... There was a report of a video game that would have a gay scene in it,and I said I really would'nt b interested in purchasing something like that... I was called a homophobe... bloodyminded Posted August 17, 2010 Author Report Posted August 17, 2010 This poem is the symptom of a weak mind, inadequate in its opposition to the plague of Zionism. Are you really 1.)a fanatic, moronic Muslim, or are you 2.) a Muslim-hater pretending to be a fanatic, moronic Muslim? The consensus here seems to be number two, though pesonally I would make no grand distinction. Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings
