No surprize

Milking the system and letting the elder types hold them back

Time they joined the mainstream - they could and would do well if they tried

Never happen - too easy to collect

It is their culture

Looks like natives get another free ride from the rest of us.

How many more centuries are the people of this country to pay for the acts of those who came here from England and France over 200 years ago??? Yes - some really NASTY stuff happened to the Native people even up until the 1950's - I agree - but when will enough be enough?

To be fair there are other groups that have an advantage over the regular tax payer. For one, most Ontarians do get something back, compared to B.C. , where they get nothing. Also, farmers get tax credits for the following items, were befotre they didn't. The items are All- terrain vehicles, ammunition, cars, trucks and light vans, automotive trailers, bunkhouses, computer and accessories, clothing for farm use, freezers, refrigerators and lawnmowers.

Well, for reasons not clear to me, there is a lot resentment towards the Native people.

They profit from other people's work.

That's how captialism works...

They get these types of things because of treaties they negotiated, they got their apologies and some cash for the survivors of those events. This is seperate from that. Although pretty consistantly only one side tend to hold up there end of the deal. Which is why so many First Nation are trying to re-negotiate the treaties.

A contract is a contract no matter how old - or seemingly dated. The natives must have their rights preserved and reserved. OUR upper class whites pay little in taxes - and by doing so maintain status - the natives have an upper class forming - though they be crooks like our whites it is still a positive thing..what are we to do? Make sure that the little wealth that natives have gotten is taken away - the native elders and hustlers learned from the best - from us... let them prosper.

A few tax breaks is probably not a bad trade for an entire continent

We won, they lost. Usually the losing side doesn't get treated so well. Just take a look at history. I'd say a completely free education, completely free healthcare, not paying taxes, along with the rights and priviledges everyone else has, is a fairly good deal.

No it wasn't a conquerer/conquered situation it was a equals negotiating terms situation.

Well, they're being treated as more than equals, compared to the rest of Canadians. The rest of us serfs, who have to pay our taxes, and pay for our post-secondary educations, etc.

Then you should bitch about your ancestors who negotiated it that way.

ETA Your also generalizing way to much.
