DogOnPorch Posted August 25, 2010 Author Report Posted August 25, 2010 I recently read the book...I think the last one was very close. The 1977 BBC version was originally a 3 or 4 part mini-series which was the best way to see it. The 'movie' version was only 150 minutes and lacked the charm of the original 'Great Performances' version. I think I last saw it on PBS some Halloweens ago...the good version. I have an 1899 printing of the book given to me by my mother when I was a young(er) fellow. Still very readable. They made books well back in those days. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
