Michael Hardner Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 I don't need them because what I do needs to be done, and it can't be contracted out for security reasons. There is a mythos about the public service which says that the gross inefficiency of government departments and agencies is because public servants are generally lazy or incompetent or both, but can't be fired. In point of fact, there is enormous competition to get into the lower levels of the public service because the pay rates and benefits are generally higher than in the private sector. You can far more easily join almost any other organization. The only reason why a lot of idiots get in is because of the predeliction for demanding high rates of bilingualism (such people are not as abundantly available). But the assumption is you could simply eliminate scads of jobs and send people packing without affecting services because those people aren't working hard anyway and the remainder could just work a bit harder to make up for their loss. The thing is, the higher you get in the public service, the lower your renumeration is in comparison to the private sector. Once you get into the ranks of EX's or ECs, ie, director, director general level, you are probably responsible for a budget in the tens or hundreds of millions, and for national programs and services which process billions of dollars, if not tens of billions worth of services. Yet the pay rate is not very deep into six figures, generally $100k-$150k. In comparison to similar levels of responsibility in the private sector, that's chicken feed. Which is why most of the mid to high level leaders in the government are incompetent morons. The good ones can easily earn two to ten times their government rate in the private sector - and leave. And THAT is why the bureacracy is so grossly inefficient. Not because of lazy workers. So it isn't a union which protects all those civil servants from being laid off in their thousands. They are working ineffectively and inefficiently due to procedures and policies put in place by management which are grossly inefficient and ineffective. In order to lay off a lot of workers, you would need to reform the system, change the policies, streamline the approval processes, which isn't going to happen, because senior management are morons only concerned with butt-covering. Much of what you posted is true, and I'm the last person to blame line workers for the crapification of the organization. But none of that means that you are living in the house that Trudeau built, and profiting from that. You can begrudgingly admit it, but you have to admit it. Moonlight Graham Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Cry me a river. None of those black-clad individuals wielding hammers looked to be weak from near-starvation. This country gives people more opportunities than any society in history. You have to be some kind of loser to be a healthy young adult male on welfare. And you have to be even more of a loser to have such a sense of entitlement you get violent that the government is spending some money on other than you. Most of the protesters aren't violent. It's a minority of idiots, and there is a myriad of people in the protests who are there for a myriad of reasons, many having nothing to do with Vancouver or poverty. Heck, many of the homeless have been shipped out of the city to the suburbs before the games as to not make Vancouver look "icky". You are such a tough guy. I wonder how you'd feel if it were your son or daughter, mother or father out on those streets. Hell you'd probably change the locks on your doors. Mr.Canada Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Excellent post Argus. Most of the posters here seem to be unable to read between the lines here as to what you're saying. Are the deliberately obtuse? Possibly but more importantly the yare mostly all ignoring what your post is about and are instead focusing on your choice of words. Too bad. One that should be unacceptable to a Catholic. Quote

bloodyminded Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 (edited) In other words, I consider the likelyhood of something happening, and you don't, because constructing a plausible opinion, even with evidence, is beyond your simple mental abilities. Right...your "evidence" for your "opinion"....which you are unable to provide. It's a secret, evidently. I do despise addicts and criminals, however. Your affection for them is noted. Then you're a moral degenerate. Congratulations. No, it betrays experience, wisdom and judgement. None of which any of your posts ever display. So now, in the world of our reactionaries, lacking compassion is evidence of "experience, wisdom, and judgement." Up is down. Black is white. whowhere Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 First of all we have to know who the rich are? My opinion of the Rich are those who are decision makers in the job market. They control who gets to be employed or not. They are the corporate management and the rich extend into the various human resource departments as well. Often these people feather their incomes and abuse the lower ranks of workers. As of late they do it through using employment agencies or higher new immigrants to Canada over long tenured Canadians. Why do they do this? They do to this to drive wages down and is a broadbased conspiracy on their part to create Canadians and keep Canadians as unskilled workers. when Corporations decide to hire they claim Canadians don't have the skills so they are given a green light by the Politicians and Government Workers to higher from outside of Canada. These are the Rich. The so called poor Argus despises did not fire the first shot. The Government and Corporate trash have declared war On the Canadian and American People alike. This is revealing in the high unemployment rates and the prevalence of low wages all the while big corporatiosn profits are getting fatter and fatter. The problem with these protestors they are targeting the wrong people when they should be scouring business directories and corporates sites to find out who these rich are and deal with them directly. The true rich you never meet because they have made their fortunes through savy real estate and stock investments. They enjoy their fruits via exotic vacations and fancy restaurants. We never see them. The only rich are the frontline scum also known as the so called middle upper classes who control who gets employment or not. People are made poor by these scum of the earth. These protestors need to target better. God says eye for eye, tooth for a tooth. If these rich scum have inflicted poverty on you, then you have the God Given right to destroy their vain property in kind. Quote Job 40 (King James Version) 11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him. 12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. 13 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
