The Hurt Locker

I have heard that this movies is excellent, I look forward to watching it.

The Hurt locker is a good movie, it gives the viewer a small taste of what it's like to operate in a insurgent type conflict, always on gaurd, always on a higher plane of awareness, paying attention to details it's what keeps a soldier alive...

As for depicting EOD specisits to the letter, not entirely sure as i've never had any dealings with US army EOD guys....i did however watch our guys in action many times, and while they mostly blew shit up in place , i did not see any of the adreniline junkie stuff like should i cut the blue wire or red....but in say that i seen those guys dig up serveral hundred pound IEDs with the bufflo , a special armoured Eng veh designed for IED's it has a small crane like arm with a pitch fork on the end...And while they are encased in heavy armour, blast proof glass, it still takes balls of steel to poke and prode a large IED knowing it's going to go off....

So i'd say most of these guys have a "different "personality" bordering on insane, or atleast a little crazy....and while there is a strict SOP to be followed, everyone of them have their own stlye....not many people question it as nobody else wants to do it....Like BC said not many old EOD guys in the army...

I found the movie to be entertaining , but i would not recommned doing so with a bunch of army guys as they will pick it apart...some thing s where unreal like dragging in 8 , 40 kg shells with one hand, he's good but not that good....but overall i thought they did a good job...

it was supposed to be based on actual events but as with anything hollywood reality isn't good enough they have to spice it up...dragging 8 x 40 kgs = 320 kgs(704 lbs)with one hand? ya not to likely unless he's a gorrila, had you not told the weight I would've never known, Hollywood hype...taking off one's armour to disarm a massive bomb is logical, it's not going to do you any good...I had problems believing he could disarm over 800 IED's and still be alive...

from my father, mother and brother's recollections of WW2 the reality was enough to scare the crap out of you without Hollywoods embelishments...Private Ryan and B of B were good doses of reality...

I think he made that number up just to be rid of the annoying officer.

There was plenty of Hollywood in Saving Private Ryan, it was just done very well and consistent with the scene's action.

Many Europeans would just roll their eyes at such Yankee excesses.

Pretty good flick, enjoyed it. I hated the lead character, he was an ass. The ending was a little cliche. But still good flick. Better than Avatar lol.

I love the Normandy scene, but after that i think the movie was just ok. Not one of my all-time fav war flicks overall.

I agree. Typically for Spielberg, it is a very well-made film. Buit after the opening, astonishing scene, it's pretty bland and forgettable.

Actually, while I did like The Hurt Locker, I find it pretty unremarkable and forgettable as well. Not a bad movie; just not a great movie.
