Tiger Woods needs to become Christian

If Tiger converts from Buddhism to Christianity, evidently all will be fine, according to Fox News' Brit Hume:

"The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith," said Hume. "He is said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of redemption and forgiveness offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger is, 'Tiger turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.'" link

Unbelievable.

I love this, too:

Hume's statements are particularly ironic given the recent sex scandals encountered by an assortment of Christian politicians.

Do you think Hume is giving him a hint?

"The majority of Americans identify themselves as Christians (76%), while non-Christian religions (including Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and others) collectively make up about 4% of the adult population.[3] Another 15% of the adult population identified as having no religious affiliation.[4] According to the American Religious Identification Survey, religious belief varies considerably across the country: 59% of Americans living in Western states report a belief in God, yet in the South (the "Bible Belt") the figure is as high as 86%.[5][6]

The United States has more Christians than any other country in the world."

From Religion in the United States on Wiki.

I suppose it depends on his desire to try and climb out of the holes (puns intended) he has put-putted himself into. He can remain a stellar golfer and be Buddhist, but with a reduced endrosement capacity for a number of years; or convert - go on Oprah with his new Christian confessions and pleas for forgiveness, then resume his golfing and get all those endorsements back. All those millions upon millions that he could use to fuel his secret sex life once again.

It doesn't have to be a real conversion, just a public business decision. No one can fault him for that.

The U.S. may have a lot of people identifying themselves as Christians, but that doesn't mean they hold the ludicrous views that Brit Hume, and perhaps Fox News, holds. I'm sure by far the majority of Americans don't know what religion Tiger Woods is, and don't care. Furthermore, I don't think their feelings and disappointment over his behavior had anything to do with whether or not God was going to forgive him.

IMO, this is just an example of a fundamentalist Christian's views, and perhaps of the network he's on. I think most Americans will find it just as ludicrous as I did, and I doubt for a minute it would 'save' any of the endorsements that he lost. It won't change the fact of what he did. I think the only thing that could possibly save his endorsements is if Elin forgives him, not God.

Well Brit Hume's viewers now know - and any of those that visited the YouTube replay. Plus the ones on this forum. :D

I hardly think that Erin's forgiveness will bring back the sponsors and endorsements - well, not immediately anyways. But converting to Christianity and apologizing in a public way on Oprah, now THAT would be business savvy! And it would likely work in a hurry. Likely get a book and movie deal out of it too.

Tiger Woods does not need to become a Christian - he needs to become a man. We exault these immature idiots to the level of golden gods...look at the millionare black basket ball players pulling guns on each other - no class..You can take the boy out of the ghetto but you can not take the ghetto out of the boy.

Really? Why?

I dunno really. I was thinking that this situation - with an athlete who uses balls, shafts, holes, etc, - was deserving. My apologies...

When you are a multi-millionare with no purpose other than putting a ball in a hole, I guess the only secondary purpose after that would be the seeking of pleasure - He's a golfer for God's sake - what do you expect of him - Much like Mike Harris the former Ontario Premier...just a golfer...and Harper - just a hockey player. We expect to much from simple men of simple mind.

those who can do...really who cares how many women he nails, and what what does a golfer matter in the big picture...a lot of fuss about nothing...

I don't think Woods gives a damn either way. He knows he is one of the best, if not THE best golfer around.

After we found out about the 15th mistress, I figure he is just on the back nine. Unless he screws like he golfs. With the least strokes possible. 'OH BABY ... what?? Under par again??'

Too easy.

As AW mentioned, it all depends on whose forgiveness Tiger Woods wants.

If he wants LilBabyJeeezus to forgive him, then I would think yeah, turning Christian is a no brainer.

If he wants Elin Nordegren to forgive him, that's probably not going to cut it.

But what about his sponsors? What about the American public that those sponsors are trying to reach?

If Tiger Woods goes on Oprah and declares himself to be on the fairway with Jeeeezus, are millions of Americans going to say "hey, he's a Christian now! Yay for Tiger!"

A few months ago Tag Heuer was the watch of guys who rule the golf course.

Then Tag Heuer was the watch of guys who cheat on their wives with skanks.

Presently Tag Heuer is no longer the watch of guys who cheat on their wives with skanks, at least as far as their US advertising is concerned.

How does the public see him if he "finds God"? Does that erase the taint of this scandal from peoples' minds? Does he go back to being the guy who rules the golf course, or does he just become that guy who cheated with a bunch of skanks and then claimed that he found God and saw the error of his ways?

Are Christians likely to be impressed, or are they more likely to see his "conversion" as a cynical ploy to heal his public image?

Are non-Christians likely to be impressed, or are they more likely to see his "conversion" as a cynical ploy to heal his public image?

And how confident is Tag Heuer going to be about putting this guy back on their advertisements?

I agree...oh and Kimmy - you don't nail woman you make sweet tender love to them...not that I am an expert but at this point in time I diswade my young son from making a career out of nailing as many woman as he can...I did and look where it got me...poverty and failure.

Did not realize that Mr. Woods was some sort of Buddist...nothing more silly than a western white or black person becoming a Buddist..I have met a few and all I can say is chanting for a Porche` seems a bit phoney. I asked a female artist who has cornered the Buddist art market with her buttery paintings of Budda dressed in high heals and fish net stockings...it's absurd and when asked why was Christianity not good enough for her - she replyed that she did not get the Christian idea. YET it was cool to be Buddist because it simply was a kick in the face of Christianity. I have never NOT once met a western convert to Buddism that was not an A hole in one.

That "nailing" is so very old school hick if I ever saw hick and shows a level of high underdevelopement of character..I just hope the writer is not a member of Parliment..probably is though..yes it's an insult to men that this man does not know what a woman is for. It's embarassing.

Remebering the wanna be studs of my youth - certain cultures like say Italians or Ukrainians..if they "conquered" a woman..it was not so much the thrill of "nailing" her but the bragging rights they attained. I found it odd that some men found it more important to tell their male friends about their success than the act itself - Maybe Tiger is one of those guys - a mans man - maybe he should skip the middle man (woman) and just sleep with men?

Oh comeon. Did any Christian ever really forgive Jimmy Swaggart? And for that matter is anyone totally sure that he actually stopped doing what he was doo-ing?

Jimmy Swaggart was already a "Christian." He doesn't count because of the 'devil in lambs clothing' rule.

Conversion on national TV could be a big ratings hit spawning movies, books, copycats, a reality series or two, games and more endorsements, a special line of clubs, etc. Tiger's agent must be drooling over the prospect!

The only thing wrong with what he said was the part about Buddhism. Maybe he should have kept his mouth shut about that, considering i doubt he is an expert of Buddhism.

I honestly think if Tiger converted from Buddhism to Christianity in a bid for "divine forgiveness," it would lower people's opinion of him even more. It would make him look as bad as Brit Hume, and I doubt if he wants that. B)

I figured it out YankeeWoman. Brett Hume is in fact an agent of Satan pretending to be a Christian trying to get to Tiger's soul now that he is vulnerable.

People who claim to be Christian and telling others to be Christian are in fact Satan's agents involved in false flag operations to recruit souls. They also are part of the illuminati and many are Mossad agents too since my people are all Satan's children.

So if Sarah Silverman calls you or Tiger, do not answer the phone. Also Paris Hilton said in an interview she is a good Christian but in fact she is and in her case the Satanists have planted false stories about her being a

slovenly woman to confuse you.

You got that?

Also Tiger Williams is in fact gay and the sex scandal is an elaborate cover story because his lover is Chuck Norris.

I mean it really is quite simple to figure out when you just think about it.
