Insane people have just as likely been revered as gods as burned as demons.

What this says about sane people is nuts.

I'm writing a new book as we speak to be published sometime in late 2010 early 2011 most likely. If you're keen enough you'll find out my real life identity.

This is such a lazy and low-quality post that it makes the board look bad. How can you post such easy and lazy-minded opinions and think that you're engaging in the type of high-quality discussion that regularly happens on MapleLeafWeb ? I really wish you wouldn't put these terribly thought-out posts on this board.

Its Christmas and Mr. Canada is looking for more handouts.

I would be thrilled if you and Mr. Canada went off to start your own board.

And in a just world, you really would be able to will away other posters with an airy wave of your hand. But unfortunately, you are continually subjected to inferior posts by people less intelligent than yourself. Though I appreciate your profound patience. You're bravely long-suffering.

I don't think you're less intelligent. If I did, I wouldn't expect posters like Mr. Canada to be able to do better. It's his behavior here that I find annoying, especially when there are posters with similar politics who do so much better at justifying their positions.

Atheism has always been dead - it has always represented an end to everything - and a certain hoplessness that always leads to death and not life. No I am not religious in the common and institutional sense - but atheism as just as dogmatic and rigid in thought and containing the same restrictions as fundementalism along with ordinary fanatic thought....Goodness and the concept of God free from man made relgions is the way to go - Atheism is a fu*king religion and it is confining - I want to be free to be me and believe what I want - belief is the most powerful thing a human can have - but not if that belief is based in the lie we call politics - great example - Paulism was the basis of modern politics and social engineering - man made - it stinks...What Catholic or other Christian cult makes an effort to get rid of poverty and fear? None! Keep it simple - Good is God and Goodness is God - be good and you will prosper - it's physics - super phyics!

Why is it so hard for people to understand what atheism is? Atheism can be summed up in two words: not believing.

That's not accurate. Not believing is agnosticism. Atheism is "believing in nothing".

No if your atheist you don't believe in anything, atheism is that absence of belief. You don't believe in nothing, even if that was possible, because that would still be a belief. Agnosticism is the view that knowledge about deities and the metaphysical are unknown and unknowable.

Sure, I understand. I guess I only couldn't quite comprehend why you'd wish me away--I've got a mere forty posts, but mostly I have made some effort at them.

To clarify: Atheism believes that there is nothing beyond what we see. That conclusion itself is unprovable, and therefore it's a belief to think so.

Agnostics believe that these things are unknowable, and there is something called agnostic theism which includes agnosticism and the personal belief in a deity.

Your admiration for Mr. Canada's bad posts is the reason. I don't think you would like Maple Leaf Web, since we tend to do better than Mr. Canada.

Atheism does not "believe" in anything at all.

That is the definition of atheism: a lack of belief in the existence of God or gods

Ah. I see...my mistake, my friend, as my sarcasm wasn't clear. I think Mr. Canada might be a fine person, but I have disagreed with virtually every single word he has said. I mean, I could scarcely disagree more.

I was actually on the attack, albeit in a sacastic way...and I assumed THAT'S why you said what you did.

Aha. Apparently there are two definitions.

Atheism: Belief in no God, or no

belief in God. (There is a difference)

You use the latter definition, and I use the former - hence our disagreement.

Ah, that would explain it. Alright then.
