wyly Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Correct.....plus it's pretty hard to kill people in an unmanned Soyuz milk run. Soyuz makes regular manned flights 4 deaths in soyuz...14 dead in the shuttles... and what are the americans doing with the shuttle fleet, canceling them and going back to the Russian system, it's safer, less expensive and it'll do the same job... wyly Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 The Energia while impressive proved too unpractical thus no Buran. The Soyuz carries only what the R-7 can lift. Can we all see a pic for reference? it's easy enough to find on the web... Quote “Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.”- John Stuart Mill
DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 lol that's too funny...give it up... The War in the Pacfic had to be one of the most contested and dramatic conflicts ever fought. The Japanese were REAL soldier/sailors...led by extremely competant men in most cases. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 And to the victor went the spoils....blue water power projection around the world. Obama say, "Where are the carriers". The IJN had some pretty cool carriers themselves which is why it was such a 'fun' war from a military persective. Some of the small ones you gotta wonder how they took off. The Ryujo for example...used up in the Aleutians...that must have sucked in a Zero on a foggy rainy evening. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 I could but I won't...getting tired of spoon feeding you guys info... No such rocket exists. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) Won't means can't.... He means the fabled Angara...still a fable for the time being. DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) ...plus the USAF has their own heavy lift expendables. Yes they do. But I miss the ol' Titan. Now there was a rocket's rocket. Edited November 26, 2009 by DogOnPorch Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) ...now it's the Delta IV Heavy: The Delta is truly impressive in its various military/civilian/scientific roles. Versatile. Here's the actual Russian Moon rocket from the Apollo days. It's conical shape comes from the Russian's inability to make oblong liquid hydrogen tanks...nor could they run LOX pipes through the middle of these tanks so those ran on the exterior on the first stage. It was unable to withstand the wild stresses produced by the 32 small main rockets during launch...not all performing exactly the same as one might expect. bush_cheney2004 Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Here's the actual Russian Moon rocket from the Apollo days..... I like the locomotive and fixed pad erector....so Russian! Now can't we get Canada some new "jets"? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

bush_cheney2004 Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) One more rocket money shot....and yes...we painted it with "USA" in big red letters just to piss off the Rooskies! Edited November 26, 2009 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 One more rocket money shot....and yes...we painted it with "USA" in big red letters just to piss off the Rooskies! The Saturn V was incredible. Much more straight-forward than the N-1. It also used LOX/H2 in the upper stages...a first. The powerhouse first stage was LOX/kerosene, thus all the orange flames and tons of smoke. Compare it to the Russian Proton heavy-lifter that uses hypergolic fuels (nitrogen tetroxide & unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine: UDMH)...almost an invisible blue flame. DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 OK Canada...let's go shopping at Davis-Montham AFB near Tucson, Arizona. I have a buddy at the Boneyard as well as another chum over at Pima ASM. Dream jobs or what? Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
DogOnPorch Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Oh yea....that's so PUSSY! ...and dangerous. The Titan used similar fuels...though watered down slightly for safety reasons. The Me-163 was the first to use the combination, whose tanks the pilot sat on. If either ruptured he'd be eaten alive by the chemicals leaving only metal belt buckles and gold fillings. If both ruptured...kablooie! Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
