Today,in the debates about trade with Jordan, a Tory member was hard at work signing his Xmas cards this year.I guess sitting there listening to your own member telling what is so good with trading with Jordan and why it should be passed. It also nice to know that Xmas spirit isn't dead, at least, for this member who voted against any EI help for others who won't have a Xmas!

One can only surmise, they were out doing some christmas shopping...

Or maybe they were in the eatery eating the the seal meat. Since coming to Ottawa a lot of the Tory members are really putting on the weight, the seal meat should help cut the fat.

It's called pork, Topaz. Unadulterated pure pork...stimulus pork...the best there is.

the seal meat should help cut the fat.

Spot on.

Seal meat is very low in fat and a very good source of many essential dietary nutrients including; protein, calcium, iron, magnesium, and vitamin B12.

Topaz! It's nice to see you carrying the torch and letting us know about all the inane happenings in Ottawa. Someone has to do it!

Mike Duffy is hard at work flying around on the taxpayers dime to host Conservative party fundraisers. Anyone have the current estimate of Duffy's cost to taxpayers for flying around to 100 dollar a plate Tory fundraisers?

Apprently Duffy's costs are the same as an NDP backbencers...

The NDP "backbencher" is not using the money to travel around and fundraise for the NDP, but nice try. Mike Duffy is billing taxpayers for his expenses that he incurs flying around to raise money hosting 100 dollar a plate dinners. Big Difference. That is really not much different from simply stealing the money directly from taxpayers and shovelling it into the Conservative's bank account. If Duffy wants to fly around the country and fundraise for the corrupt conservatives the Conservatives should pay for his services out of their own money.

I have a newspaper that says Duffy is flying out to MB to host a 100 dollar a plate Tory fundraising dinner, are you suggesting that he won't be billing the taxpayers for the flight?

And remember, that is a $100 dollar per plate pork dinner! Not that Mike Duffy would know anything about pork...

While I have no doubts that you have a newspaper, do you have evidence about who is paying...

My opinion and your opinion ain't worth poo....

....a citation to back up an opinion might have value...otherwise your guess is worthless

If we're lucky they'll all eat plenty of it and come down with a deadly case of swine flu.

There is another thread in here that claims Duffy's has already billed taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses in the few months he has been a senator. I think its pretty safe to assume that he will continue to bill the taxpayers for his fundraising trips. If you think he is not going to bill the taxpayers go ahead and prove me wrong. So far he has billed taxpayers for all his travels to Tory fundraisers so why would this be any different?

Which of course is on par for an NDP backbencher

I think its pretty safe to assume that he will continue to bill the taxpayers for his fundraising trips.

Even safer to assume you will fail to back up that claim.

If you think he is not going to bill the taxpayers go ahead and prove me wrong.

I just did. the Burden of Proof lies with the positive claimant.

What is it that I need to prove? Duffy doesn't even deny he is billing for the expenses, his only response is to say that an NDP MP has spent about the same as he has. The MP however is billing for constituency business, not trips tp party fundraisers.

What you need to prove is that Duffy is billing us for party fund raising.

You will get huge points and maybe even be interviewed by the CBC if you can.

Hop to it and good luck

That what the NDP chap said.

Duffy countered of course asking if a Senator's job was less important than a backbenchers...

In the grand scheme of things... yes. He doesn't have a riding that he needs to attend to. The whole point of travel budgets for MPs is so they can go home to deal with constituents. Duffy doesn't actually have constituents in any meaningful sense of the word.

But he does....as meaningful as the leader of the 4th party. Duffy represents PEI
