Finally....he said it. Up to now, he maintained it was always "an option". Now....do we believe him?

If we go that route, we can certainly talk about each parties hidden agenda.

With the Liberals it's simple; do whatever it takes to form a government.

With the Conservatives, it's tougher, because now Harper has pretty much laid out what he dislikes and why he dislikes it. He's no centrist, he's playing that game because he's in a minority situation.

While the Tories don't do anything of the sort to get into government?

So, this means there really is an agenda he won't talk about?

would you have believed in Harper's 2004 coalition option... tabled, exercised or not?
do we believe Harper who did the same

with the recent days video release of the real Harper before the closed-door meeting with Conservative supporters, Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe offers his perspective on the hypocrisy of Harper's approach to politics:

He noted that Harper, as opposition leader, tried negotiating a deal with the Bloc and the NDP five years ago so that he could become prime minister.

"In 2004, Mr. Harper met me and (NDP Leader) Jack Layton at the Delta Hotel in Montreal to discuss a number of things," said Duceppe in an interview with the French-language LCN television news network.

"It was Mr. Harper who did this with those he called the `evil socialists' and the `evil separatists.' Today he's blaming others of supposedly doing this, which isn't the case."

The real Harper !

Do you think Ignatieff would want right wing ideologues on courts, or that he doesn't want a majority - really. Harper wasn't saying anything that each leader wants for their own party.

As for not being part of a coalition, the Liberal party where certainly part of it, I'm looking at a picture now of the 3 amigos shaking hands on it.

Some part of the Liberal party was part of it. It was pretty clear within days of the Three Amigos photo op that there were very large tracts of the Liberal Party that were very much against it, and it was that group, more than any other, who propelled Iggy, who had already voiced some doubts about the whole enterprise, to the top of the pack.

I for one believe Ignatieff when he says he will not be part of coalition. I believe he means that.

I also believe faced with another Tory Minority parliament, Ignatieff might seek an accord with the other parties or even a partnership. Also a possibility is he will simply share responsibility with other parties.

But he will not seek a coalition, he's a Liberal American University Prof, you can trust him.

What about after the election :)

Seriously though, I don't think any party should rule out the possibility of a coalition under any circumstances, but I'll take his word for it that he isn't really interested in one. Besides, saying he was, would indicate he doesn't think he could win.

If we go that route, we can certainly talk about each parties hidden agenda.

Not talking about it would be a nice change.

Harper won't promise not to call one.

Anyone saying they were seeking a coalition would undermine their support.

Not talking about it would be a nice change.

I guess we could close our eyes and ears and go la la la.

Your ignorance is showing through in your hate for anything Conservative, when the real thieves and liars in Canadian politics are and was the Liberals with their backroom deals to shovel taxpayer's money to their Liberal friendly advertising corporations during ADSCAM. Instead of sitting in caucus many of those in the Liberal Party should be wearing prison garb instead of tailor-made suits. Sadly a few minions were scapegoated while the people who really made those decisions skated.

As for the deficit, this was not a Canadian made recessions but a world-wide recession, that regardless of what Iggy and the lying Liberals will tell you, they could not have done one thing about it that Harper hasn't already done. In fact, Canada is being praised for the decisions made by the Harper government that has allowed Canada to rebound faster than most countries around the world.

please do you have the names of those within the Liberal party doing the backroom deals you speak of? Are you suggesting the scapegoated minions were principled because they didn't sell out the "party brass?" Yes... clearly, you don't show "hate for anything Liberal"

perhaps a bit of schooling... exactly what decisions are/were the Harper Conservatives being praised for... those you suggest responsible for allowing Canada to rebound faster than most countries around the world?

sorry, he either didn't know there was a recession coming which would make him an idiot and incompetent or he lied there is no other choice here...from a predicted surplus he promised pre election late 2008(Nov?) to $55.2 deficit less than year later

nothing he did helped Canada, he was handed a country in sound financial shape and he squandered our surplus...what's helping Canada weather the storm is our banking system and it's lending practises which he can take no credit for, it was already in place when he was in diapers...

and we haven't rebounded we're still in a recession and will be until the USA recovers...

oh ya the steady hand of conservative leadership guiding Canada through troubled financial times lol, "he's an IDIOT and a LIAR"
