Topaz Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 Yes ,the minister of finance says Canada is on the mend and since HE has said it, IT must be true! Wrong. Until the US gets its financial affairs in order which will take some time we are not going to mend as fast as the Flaherty says, in my view. Our unemployed will still climb for the rest of this year and so goes the bill for them and the drain on the government. http://www.thestar.com/business/article/647231 Quote

If that's the case, then you may as well pay more attention to the US "Financial Minister". Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Shady Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 If that's the case, then you may as well pay more attention to the US "Financial Minister". Exactly. Obama Sees "Glimmers Of Hope" In Economy CBS News Perhaps Flaherty was looking at some of the same information Obama has been looking at. Personally, I think they're both wrong. Quote

Personally, I think they're both wrong. I will suggest these folks don't bet on it! They are talking to pump life into a system in very deep trouble. Obama was at least wise enough to phrase things in the way he did. Quote

Jerry J. Fortin Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 Right or wrong, he is the guy we are supposed to be listening to. I will offer this to folks, if he is wrong then is should be considered incompetent and dismissed. Quote
Moonbox Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 (edited) This is a total misrepresentation of what he said anyways. Nice try Topaz. What he said was: At a Montreal event, Flaherty expressed "cautious optimism that a global economic recovery may not be far behind." What he said means nothing because it can be taken in any direction the listener wants to interpret it. noahbody Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 Canada's economy is in good shape, and it should be one of the first in the world to come out of recession, says the head of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. http://ctv2.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/st...BN/ctv-business Quote
