This is a great new ad from the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

YouTube

I think now's the time to start hammering away. Obama's popularity has already begun to drop fast, and a constant barrage could sink him even further. And in the process, preventing some of his more radical leftwing policy proposals.

Poll of change: Obama’s job approval slipping to ‘50-50’

The honeymoon is over, a national poll will signal today as President Obama’s job approval stumbles to about 50 percent over the lack of improvement with the crippled economy.

The sobering numbers come as the president backpedals from two prime-time gaffes - one comparing his bowling score to a Special Olympian and another awkwardly laughing about the economy, which prompted Steve Kroft of “60 Minutes” to ask “are you punch-drunk?”

Pollster John Zogby said his poll out today will show Americans split on the president’s performance. He said the score factors out to “about 50-50.”

Some polls show Obama coasting with a 65 percent job approval, but not in Zogby’s tally.

“The numbers are going down,” Zogby told the Herald.

In the interest of balance, the part of the zogby poll Shady does not want you to know about:

UTICA, NY - A March 20-23 Zogby Interactive survey shows 45% of likely voters believe the nation is headed in the right direction, a gain of five points from a similar survey completed on March 5. At the beginning of the year, only 14% held that positive view.

How sad.It appears that the only thing that matters to the Obama supporters is whether or not he is popular. He was more popular during the election and it was important then.Right now, what matters is what way the economy will turn.Save the popularity contests for American Idol.

What is sad that the netroots has police the real media becuase of the terrible reporting they do. What is sad is that 25% of America who don't like Obama think they are the majority. That is what is sad.

HAHAHAHA After checking Shady's bogus poll all I have to say is HAHAHAHA. You can fool some of the people some of the time right Shady? It is an online poll. HAHAHA we are lucky Ron Paul didn't win.

The Zogby poll isn't an online poll. But let's say we use the RCP avg in your link, at 59% instead of Zogby's 50%. So what? He's still dropping like a rock. So it isn't 50% now, but it will be in a month. Remember, the first few months of his Presidency will be the high water mark in terms of approval rating. It's all downhill from here. I'm suprised you don't know that.

Ohhh it isn't an online poll? What do you call a poll you have sign up for online to be polled for?

Remember Dewy beats Truman that was cause they only called people to poll with phones at the time not everyone had a phone so only the those with phones (the richer people) got polled. It is a shitty poll and Zogby's averages 10 points off when polling on a good day.

RCP average is 62 although I can see how it was hard for you to go there and check. Also if you look at the latest polls he is on the upswing although I know it can be tough for you to read a graph.

Yah dropping like a rock seriously you look delusional.

I don't see "plummeting"

I think you're trying to plant that idea before the news about the stock market rally hits the polling numbers.

If you look at Rasmussen's daily tracking of Obama's performance, it's obvious that there has been a slow and steady decline. I don't know if the decline has been faster/slower than previous presidents.

Rasmussen

But if you look at all the polls you Rasmussen is pulling numbers out their ass.

The whispy mist of high fancey has been blown away by the smallest of gustof wind. To go from 150% approval rating down to 50% in a matter of weeks is not surprising - no one has ever heard the guy speak before - He got elected not because he could speak well but because Bush could not.

Are you questioning Rasmussen's pollin competence?

Obama still has overall positive ratings but they are smaller than after his inauguration. My guess is that he has core support of about 25%-30% (blacks and hard core leftists) who will always choose "strongly approve" regardless of what happens.

It was inevitable that Obama's suport would fall and I merely wonder whether it has fallen faster than previous presidents. It is clear though that teh Administration will use Obama to sell their various plans to the public. A true test of Obama's popularity will be whether he can muster popular support (as Reagan or Nixon could) faced with considerable adversity.

I would look to Obama increasingly blaming the past administration for the economic problems; I would also expect that he will soon jettison talk of education, energy, pension reform. Unless something serious happens in the world, he will stop talking about foreign policy too.

No I didn't even address your point because it was pointless spin, and it was no thought through. Obama's approval rating is important because it tells if people approve of what he is doing or not. It has nothing to do with popularity it has to do with democracy deal with it.

Don't worry he's much like Obama in that regard its typical.

With truths yes, instead of supporting my views with lies. Good thing their is the netroots or reporting might never get their facts straight.
