In doing a search I can find examples worldwide. Canada - not in the first two pages of google. But while there ARE examples out there, let'stalk about the positives. During my search I also found examples of a few muslims saying "christmas is ok and christmas trees are ok". That is freaking great. Now it's still a shame that a site like that even has to exist: ie. can you imagine a site like "black people are actually ok"?? ridiculous. But the fact that muslims within their own faith are starting to speak up and accept other religions is brilliant. As with the old AIDS saying used to go: "silence = acceptance". It's nice to see some muslims speaking out in acceptance. But a long way to go. We need to get to the point where people in that faith needn't post website claiming that it's "ok to have a christmas tree". And when we pander to those we wish not to offend we call it a holiday tree. One problem - the holiday tree has lost it's holyness..Mr C has a point. It's as if the whole nation was our home and now it is not - so we have to quietly set up our tree behind closed doors...but I don't give a damn - I'm putting mine in my window for all to see! Ha ha - you can't keep a good man down - Jesus was good...some just don't like the law as set down by the Christ...because it is not about religion - It's about people who want power over others and dispise the rule of law. Interesting, I was never aware of the fact that the Christmas tree was an instrument designed to prevent others worshipping in the faith of their choice. Quite frankly I find the whole Christmas tree prohibition issue to be so petty and childish as to be beneath consideration. I wish people a merry Christmas from a spirit of genuine good will, not as some sinister machination designed to deny them religious freedom. If all you see in such instances are the aforementioned machinations then I suggest you rejoin the normal people back on earth for a while until your perspective clears up a little. I've worked with Jehova's Witnesses who had no problem when we decked out the whole office. They enjoyed the good cheer just like everyone else. Surely you are not a scrooge charter.rights? Christmas has become a cultural tradition. More so than it's religious or pagan connotations. Yes, the winter soltice is the original reason for the celebration. And yes, Christians and non-Christians celebrate the birth of Christ at that very same time. Scholars have recently concluded that Jesus was born in June. It could be though, that babies born in ancient times were not recognized as "people" for the first six months (becasue infant mortality was so high). Six months from June is December after all. Not that I've converted or anything (for those astonished that I would even mention the birth of Jesus ). I do believe that ancient stories stem from some grain of truth. Seems that should be simple and "generic" enough for anybody. I'm not religious but I still say Merry Christmas. I feel stupid saying happy holidays. What "holidays"? Summer holidays? Commercial on TV the other night woman says "Did you get your holiday gift?" Huh? Like someone (sorry don't recall) said earlier -- it's not the politicians or the public (or immigrants) demanding that "Christmas" not be mentioned.
