Slim MacSquinty Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 The coalition will go to the polls in 2011. And if you found 3 coalitions in the UK, you have found Precedent. I knew there was no problem finding examples of coalitions, however there is no example of one going to the GG to support it without a commitment to go to the polls in order to have the moral authority, the GG should be mindful that there is no example to support 2-1/2 years of unelected government such as this. I should think that 6 months would be about the maximum. Quote

Alta4ever Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Please. And you complain about Quebec separatists? What the hell is the point when “blanks” like you can't even respect democracy? You spoke about working with government but this was in the works long before parliament resumed. You blanks sold democracy out just to get your greedy little hands on the public purse long live the most corrupt party if Canadian politics. I will never recognize this coalition government as a Canadian government because it was not democratically elected. You have no respect for democracy. cybercoma Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 no Johnny she's not delusional... Betsy's "conservative" math is correct in her mind -- conservatives tend to believe that they "require" considerably less education than their more liberal counterparts and thus 37% (or so) is considered "most" to them and they are ok with that. 50%, 30% what's the diff? If it's good enough for Betsy, it ought to be good enough for everybody, you betcha, gosh darn it all anyway! (A client of mine is having a 50% off sale... for conservatives the savings is only 30%, but they are ok with that. Half off is half off even when it's only a third!) Never mind that 63% (or so) of Canadian voters DIDN'T vote for Harper... And nevermind the disproportionate number of seats the Bloc get, which really screws with the house. Quote

Are we going to see flags come down, I bet he's not too happy about a Quebec seperatist party in gov't. He may rue the day he ran the ABC campaign. cybercoma Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 (edited) Wait until tomorrow. Analysts are expecting a huge hit the market because of turmoil in the government. To say that what's gonig on in Ottawa will have no effect on the TSX is wrong. That's not what you're saying, is it? edit: Saying TODAY'S market wasn't because of the politics is splitting hairs. People are expecting the crash tomorrow, so it's possible that at least some of today was from the problems in government. Edited December 1, 2008 by cybercoma Quote

That's just stupid, western alienation is real, they have considerable seats in the house of commons, Newfoundland is making silly non concilliatiory noises and and Quebec voted overwhelmingly for the BQ again. Idiots like you are going to be sitting alone in the dark with nothing but your shitty attitude. Taking the BQ out of the picture, the conservatives would have had a majority with 143 of the remaining 259 seats, this coalition by ignoring the will of the people is surely trouble for those who play. Sure there is probably alot of smug urbanites in Toronto and Montreal who are gleeful, but I suspect they may be feeling pretty isolated after the next election, not to mention pretty stupid if the economic consequences take a hit because of this political instability. Slim MacSquinty Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 The urbanites in Toronto and Montreal overwhelmingly voted Liberal, and are generally the haters of Harper, therefore one might assume today, they are smug. Quote
