johhny Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 So if Harper knew in advance from the tapes why would he not try to avert a crisis in times of economic crisis? in stead he goes and adds fuel to the flames. Wow this guys more of a slimeball than I thought Quote

Smallc Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Prime Minister’s Office released the tape and pointed to it as proof of an NDP-Bloc conspiracy hatched long before the government produced its fall financial blueprint. Yeah, but they didn't know until yesterday. Quote
johhny Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 coalition tape can be heard here http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Canada/200...30/7585901.html few other comments I really like -Its nice to hear that the talks for the creation of a coalition government on behalf of real Canadians is being handled in a temperate and intelligent manner. It reassures me that this isn't just a frantic, knee-jerk movement but a stable assemblage of like-minded individuals working for the greater good. As for the taping and releasing of this private meeting tape, it shows further how low, crass and despicable Machiavelli Harper, I mean Stephen Harper is. What a disgraceful PM we have. -While Conservative government eavesdropping on oppositions MPs , then who can guarantee they are not listening to those activists and others who are against Conservative policy . Quote
Cameron Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Releasing the tapes will fuel the fire of the "big brother" image that Harper has been labeled with. With all that is going on around the world, there is too much fire and Harper doesn't have enough water. Shakeyhands Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 This, besides being completely classless and of dubious legality, is just about the stupidest thing this gov't could have done. I sure hope this gov't falls and soon. I'm looking forward to hearing who the invited party was. Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
BC_chick Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Isn't it exciting! Sigh...... Um, dramatic and exciting aren't necessarily synonymous, but I guess it's somewhat exciting too, depends on whom you ask. Probably not too exciting for CPC supporters. Either way, secret tapes, coalition governments... this is not the Ottawa I'm used to. Quote It's kind of the worst thing that any humans could be doing at this time in human history. Vancouverite Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 I wonder by what right they have to eavesdrop on other parties - is this legal? Quote
BC_chick Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 I wonder by what right they have to eavesdrop on other parties - is this legal? fellowtraveller Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 NDP is considering legal action, but the Conservatives say they were invited to the meeting. I thought Layton was proud of his historic alignment with a separatist party, soon to be his master in a coalition. Has soemthing changed? Quote The government should do something.
scribblet Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 We should be concerned about a group that is stupid enough to invite their opponent to a confidential meeting and then complain about him attending. These tapes have served to destroy any legitimacy this 'coalition' might have had so requires a new election, one which will allow electors to choose between the Conservatives and the Union of Socialist and Separatist Republic. Probably not too exciting for CPC supporters.Either way, secret tapes, coalition governments... this is not the Ottawa I'm used to. It's exciting for me! I think Harper and the party are making a mistake by backing down on the economic update. I think they should stand up to the opposition and ask them to form the government if they can't support this economic update. Be prepared to be relegated to the opposition for a maximum of two months and watch the Liberals, NDP and Bloc destroy themselves. Heck, the Liberals can't even get along, let alone adding the socialists and the seperatists! This would forever relegate the Liberals to needing a coalition to govern and the CPC can advertise outside of PQ as a vote for the Libs or NDP is in essence, a vote for the Bloc. In PQ, they can advertise a vote for the BQ is a vote for the liberals. Too tasty to pass up in my opinion. Quote Those Dern Rednecks done outfoxed the left wing again.~blueblood~
drewski Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 NDP is considering legal action, but the Conservatives say they were invited to the meeting. well then, ok. we should also believe all the convicts who said they didn't do it either. even if they were invited, that doesn't mean that the NDP agreed to let it be recorded. fellowtraveller Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 even if they were invited, that doesn't mean that the NDP agreed to let it be recorded. Yes, it does in legal terms. If you are party to a conversation, even passively, you may record it and publish that recording. If you are invited to listen, what the NDP agrees to means nothing after that.
