wulf42 Posted December 21, 2008 Author Report Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) Doesn't matter...they don't have the balls to use it. See, that's really the main difference...not just the means....but the will to do it. Even tiny Taiwan thumbs its nose.China will pass Canada as #1 trading partner as well. Maybe the Shanghai Sharls will win the Stanley Cup. China can take Tiawan anytime it wants to,your country is becoming bankrupt due in large part from the war in Iraq! When China feels the time is right it will mowed Tiawan over in a matter of hours and there won't be a damn thing the USA can do it about it The USA is over stretched and Russia and China are alot less worried about the USA then they used to be...they know America is weakening and is on the verge of losing it superpower status where as China is doing great and arming to the teeth with Nukes,Large advanced Navy,a good Airforce and a huge Army! ...you can't even defeat a rag tag army of insurgents in Iraq.. imagine trying to take on 1 billion screaming well armed and well trained Chinamen??? Good luck with that.........lol Edited December 21, 2008 by wulf42 Quote

China has nearly no amphibious capability. China's naval force has an insufficient number of large-scale and advanced landing ships and lacks such indispensable ship varieties as amphibious assault ships and dock landing ships. China's current amphibious landing capability is largely restricted to the several Yuting and Yukan-class landing ships. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/plan/yuting.htm http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/plan/index.html Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
GostHacked Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Nope...never heard of those either. However, I do like a very cheesy production called "How It's Made" via our Discovery Channel / Science Channel cable group. We can always tell when a production comes out of Canada because the credits are plastered with the Mapleleaf and homage to government funding. Try some Canadian shows for a change. Some are very good. I know and uderstant that most Canadian shows don't pander to the ADHD crowd that American TV tends to get. This may get a classification of boring. Not to mention some of the American shows are filmed in Toronto and Vancouver. X-Files was pretty big. Too bad the quality sucked ass as soon as it was decided for production to move south of the border. And definately give Trailer Park Boys a try. Quote
LesterDC Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 And definately give Trailer Park Boys a try. High definition piss jugs!! Quote
Oleg Bach Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 NO! Canada should stay as is - the Americans are just not civilized yet - so we have to wait for them to evolve..could take a thousand years...but we are good at waiting....why is it that Bush looks like a little cute monkey? Quote

It's now a game for me to spot the Canadian markers in US media, since for years they would hide such things as best they could to improve chances for export. And definately give Trailer Park Boys a try. No thanks.....Red Green and Duct Tape are enough Canuck laughs for me. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
M.Dancer Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 No thanks.....Red Green and Duct Tape are enough Canuck laughs for me. Yeah....TPB got old quick..sort of like a cheech and chong routine.. On the other hand there are some good comedies coming from here Rent-A-Goalie and Billable Hours come to mind. There's some real crap too...Dramas like The Border and The Guard are floating on the top...high fibre content I'm sure. NanaimoConservative Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 Canada is almost American anyway. Most of our culture, books, magazines, TV, movies, etc. are American. Canadians WANT American things. We have to legislate that our TV and radio play a certain percentage of Canadian artists also why does Walmart do so well and Zellars doesn't? I've shopped in both and Walmart is much better run that's why. Even our "all that is Canadian" Tim Hortons is an American company. It's owned by Wendy's. With all that said I don't really want to join the states. I'm satisfied in basically being in the states but still being a little different. There is a conservative mindset that the states have that I like though. I am helping bring that more prominently to Canada along with other conservative thinkers up here. Quote

NanaimoConservative Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 No its not. It was bought by Wendy's in 1995. It's best years of growth as a company where under Wendy's ownership. Has Tim Horton's marketing succeeded in blinding you or are you just being funny and ignoring the foreign ownership just because Wendy's happened to spin off Tim Horton's in 2006? So yea, they don't own them anymore but the best years of Tim Horton's was under American ownership. Now they can use what they learned and make Timmy's even better now and try to erase the ownership history too I bet. Quote
Smallc Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 In other words, they don't own them. Yes, they did, but they don't. Quote

dlkenny Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 True, but now that the U.S. has a good President it might be a good thing....look around you Canada is crumbling around us ,our medical system is failing...our social net is failing...Quebec wants to separate and Alberta is making rumblings about it....it might make a strong North America. This is the most rediculous thing I've heard yet. Yes it's true that the US has a better president, but he cannot fix everything and certainly not overnight. What's more is that he can only be in power for the next 8 years and then who knows who will take power. It could be anyone whose family or friends has their fingers in the cookie jar and corruption of state would happen again. The Iraq and Afghanistan wars are an example, and are simply a measure by George W Bush to put money in his own family's pocket through his father's position in the Carlyle group. The whole thing is a scam that Canada shouldn't be involved in and by amalgamating with the US we'd be putting ourselves in a position of not having a choice in the matter. Quote If you understand, no explanation necessary. If you don't understand, no explanation is possible.

That Obama's government will be blind-sided by occurrences that will hurt the country and won't be able to control. That universities and college will close down and that small networking within the country is the only way most of the US will be able to survive. He also said there will be unrest and violence and people will lose jobs , homes, etc. Now, who knows if this guy is right or not but his prediction have been 90%. If it does come true please close the borders!!! When obamas was elected thousands went out and bought guns. Quote

krazy kanuck Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) Our countries are tied together through an invisible umbical cord. What hurts them hurts us and vice versa. In the matter of economics we are tied too. I am reading a book now by Michael Moore called "Downsize This". It is about the effects that corporate greed has wrought on all of us. On page nine of this book he says "Today we are actually earning less than we did in 1979 and as of the writing of that book back in 1996 there were 20 million people not making the minimum amount that they need to survive! Both the U.S. and Canada are quickly becoming among the have nots and third world countries of the world. Corporate greed does not stop at our borders. I shall always be a Canadian and mostly proud of it. Hey, look at our junior hockey team. Winning the championship of the whole world five times in a row now. Don't you feel a modicum of pride in being a Canuck? Edited January 12, 2009 by krazy kanuck Quote Sick lungs don't show.
