the janitor Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) Yea, he's running alright.....running from his deadbeat income tax history in 17 states, running from his pornographic satire, and running from his foul mouth on Air America Radio. Good luck Al...... The guy should just stay home. The mistake that folks like him make is thinking people actually care enough about what they think to vote for them. Pliny Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 There's no escaping the fact that these foreign and domestic disasters could have been prevented, or minimized if there was a leader in the White House with the cognitive ability to understand more than his edited briefing papers, and actually had a grasp of economics and a decent knowledge of what forces were at work in the countries that he wanted to invade. Has there been a president lately, and I am talking the last century, that had those qualities? I think they were mostly politicians. I heard a politician say today that when the stock market fell in 1929, FDR went on television right away and explained what needed to be done - and it wasn't Sarah Palin who said it. I'll have to post it on the quotable quotes thread. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
guyser Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 I'm guessing you meant Sandra Bernhard, not Sarah Bernhardt. Whoops...thanks. Yes, I meant the ugly one. Quote

Dude....I live in the Minnesota media market....Franken had to air campaign ads apologizing for his infamous potty mouth, which was prominently featured in Coleman ads to great effect. bush_cheney2004 Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Then how is it neck and neck if "great effect" was achieved? Franken had to spend the money and buy air time for the apologetic ad. Any questions? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

He spent money to counter what the other guy spent money on to tell them he had a potty mouth.(Genl Betray-us) Air time ...full page ads...air time.... full page ads.....seems rather normal and doesnt speak to " great effect. Remind me not to hire you as a campaign manager, because you would see no problem with spending precious campaign dollars and media bandwidth apologizing for unseemly behaviour, porno satire, and unpaid income taxes in 17 states instead of staying on message and attacking my opponent. Riverwind Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 (edited) Ok, I was willing to give Palin the benefit of the doubt but this interview with Couric was downright embarrassing: http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/davidho...from=blog_last3 I had even given her a pass on the not knowing what the "bush doctrine" is (hell, I am political junkie and I never knew it was anything other than a label used to describe any Bush policy that someone does not like). But give me a break. COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land boundary that we have with-- Canada. It-- it's funny that a comment like that was-- kind of made to-- cari-- I don't know, you know? Reporters-- COURIC: Mock? PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah. COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials. PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our-- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia-- It sounds even worse if you listen to it.At this point McCain is toast. I don't see how he can possibly recover from what appears to be a totally inept choice for VP. Edited September 26, 2008 by Riverwind Quote To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

This is really a shame in a way. She is a bright lady- she is no Dan Quayle. If they had given her a few months warning she could have been somewhat prepared. She made a great splash, but now they have to hide her away from the media. If they had a qualified female vice-presidential candidate who could go on the view, it would have been a killer. But is it obvious from the interview that they had a good reason for their policy of not letting her speak in unscriped forums. Quote

Too bad for the Republicans, she could have eventually become a good candidate, but now her political future looks dimmer and dimmer every time she opens her mouth. Quote

Not exactly qualifying as being hidden away. How many major interviews has Biden done? How many hostile interviews? And no Republican should ever go on The View again. McCain goes on and gets asked if he's bringing back slavery while Obama gets school girl adoration as he's told he looks sexy( I think this was in the same week Michelle Obama was saying not to vote for Palin just because she's pretty, no word if Michelle confronted The View on voting for hubby just because he's sexy, but I'm not holding my breath). The VP debate should prove interesting, Biden is polished, but he's going to have to hide the liberal left wing policies which will alarm the voters. I wonder if he still thinks Clinton should be the nomination? Quote

WIP Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Since Sarah Palin can see Russia from her home in Alaska, I'm surprised that she can't also see the first global warming refugees right in her own state: Newtok is a remote settlement of about 320 Yup'ik Eskimos on the southwest coast of Alaska. The permafrost which lies below the ground and acts as a foundation for the village's roads and homes is melting, and Newtok's residents will become the world's first climate change refugees. Photographer Brian Adams travelled to the far flung village to see the effects of climate change firsthand Quote Anybody who believers exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist. -- Kenneth Boulding, 1973
