Shady Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 If they tried that in Canada I know that I for one would tell them where they could shove it. No one has the right to restrict anothers movement or free will to choose without a very good reason. Personally I don't consider any song to be a good enough reason to impose such restrictions on others. Actually, an usher at The Rogers Centre once stopped me from leaving my seat during the national anthems. I understood, and waited until a more proper time to leave. I guess if you're not a child, it's pretty easy to understand. Quote

AngusThermopyle Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 (edited) I guess both of you missed this part eh? It would have been polite of him to wait until the song was finished though, unless he couldn't I don't give a sh*t what either of you think about "good men" or "childish". If someone wants to restrict me involuntarily without very good reason and I don't consider a song to be good reason, they're going to have a fight. I am not and will not be a clone deprived of my right of choice and free will. If both of you are cool with those restrictions then fill yer boots boys, just don't try to force me into your mold. I did not serve my country so I could be told when I could or could not have a piss because a song is playing. Is that why you served BC? So you could reinforce such freedoms as mandated bathroom privileges? Good for you man! There's nothing that speaks to freedom like restricting citizens natural bodily functions. Well done! Pssst. Nows the time you post some irrelevant comment about Canada. Don't miss the oportunity to be irrelevant, it just wouldn't be in character for you if you did. Just to remind you, earlier you said "as an adult, you wait for the song to end, and then make your way to the bathroom." So as an adult, why didn't you wait for the song to end before leaving your seat? At any rate, I find it interesting that several posts later you recalled that you, too, were asked to stay in your seat at a ball game. M.Dancer Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 You did not quote the entire article though. What interested me when I read your snippet were the words "HE SAYS he was stopped.......".Later on in the same article... The NYPD told CBS 2 a different version of the story, however, saying in a statement: "The officers observed a male standing on his seat, cursing, using inappropriate language and acting in a disorderly manner while reeking of alcohol, and decided to eject him rather than subject others to his offensive behavior. http://wcbstv.com/local/yankees.bathroom.e...n.2.804859.html That sounds immensely more likely. M.Dancer Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 O i got this one beat. I was at a Tigers game this summer and it was Military day or something because there was a battalion of US army troopers there. I think they were POTG types. I didnt recgonize there unit as a combat unit. Anyways. I had some sitting infront of me and infront of them was some Obviously Islamic believe people. I don't think they were Arab but maybe Central asia. Anyways, The National Anthem comes on and these people turn there back to the flag. The soldiers I could tell did not like that but they kept there mouths shut about it. Well the game goes on and they get ready to sing god bless America. And these people turn there back again. This time one of the soldiers politely says "Hey guys if you don't want to hear it thats fine, but could you act respectful to the rest of us." And these fans just start saying awful stuff to these soldiers. Like I hope you die in combat. I hope an Arab cuts your head off. Just really off the wall shit. Well by now somebody has gotten the crowd managers attention about it. And he calls in the crew. And they escort every single one of them and seat them in a different area away from the soldiers. Come to find out I guess those were not even their seats. I took a GF to a Leafs game once. Excellent seats including dinner at the hot stove. Anthem came on and she refused to stand. I was mortified and angey. She had her lame ass reason.....I never took her to another event. She will be running for the Green party next election. You're just full of respect, aren't you? Can't wait to go to the Blue Jays game in Roger's Centre soon -- I shall check out those gestapo ushers. And I'll be sure to sit during your anthem, Drea. Paying people millions upon millions for a game is utterly ridiculous. Celebrity and sports celebrity are the most useless vocations on earth. Yet people like you will contribute to their millions for a few hours of sitting on your butt watching someone play a game. Get it? A GAME. As in childish fun. Children who have never grown up. Because I don't attend sporting events, I don't think I have ever had to stand for any anthem other than my own. I only stand for/sing the anthem for Remembrance Day and Canada Day. Take me out to the ballgame, Take me out to the crowd! Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks, I don't care if I ever get back! moderateamericain Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 If he files the law suite he will lose. I checked out my season tickets for the Tigers, read the back of them. It says the Tigers or police have the right to remove you for any reason what so ever from the stadium. Its all in legal speak of course but goodluck getting paid on that. Take it from someone who has been to about 70+ tigers game in two years, I see people get tossed out of there all the time. Detroiters like to drink. I don't care if you don't like the National Anthem at sporting events. Its called respect. Not for the country but the people that come there that do appreciate it. Show some class. Quote

All manner of jerks are ejected because they don't want to get with the program and/or use the event to promote their own agenda.
