M.Dancer Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 I thought Toyota/Honda paid comparable wages, no ?Fill me in... They do but they get more productivity out of their workers through incentives. Toyota and Honda are not places for clock watchers and time fillers. If you want a bonus you are expected to work for it, which means over time and keeping yourself busy when you have spare time. Pliny Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 Have you considered adult literacy classes? She should stay off the topic of economics at least. They don't call it the nanny state for nothing. Knowledge of Economics is not necessary if you are a Statist. There is only the law of take from the rich and give to the poor. What more need be known. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.

I'm also willing to bet that Honda and Toyota's Japanese management style is more conducive to improvement than GM's. Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Michael Hardner

Knowledge of Economics is not necessary if you are a Statist. There is only the law of take from the rich and give to the poor. What more need be known. A lot needs to be known. The knowledge of economics has been skewed by decades of misreporting to the extent that the entire dismal science looks more like the body of knowledge that comprises the global warming theory. OTOH all that needs to be known is that Nanny will be there to mend the boo boos and make everything alright. Just ask Bear Sterns or...GM. Nanny state bails out yet another loser. With a so-called green fund no less As I recall Nanny has a Finance Minister that lives in the same region GM is closing its plant. Go figure. I worked in Alliston (plant 2 weld) for a summer, and there were plenty of clock watcher's & time fillers. staying busy during down time was just part of the job description, the bonus you got for doing it was not getting into trouble. i do remember one bonus though, we got $14 for punching in on time every day of the week.
