Peter F Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Never the less, NAZI appeasing neutral Sweden is eyeball's role model... Appeasment? Please tell me the Norwegians keep their machine guns at home so I can go back and replace all my references to Swedes and the Swiss with them instead. Army Guy Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 I got the reference to 'scumbags' from some of the a-holes that post their approval of Canada's new pro-militaristic policies around here. Of course this is just a forum where less thoughtful inflammatory words sometimes get spoken but they seemed to mirror much of the willingness shown by soldiers in media reports to get into places like Afghanistan so they could put their training to use. Nice to know that you have such affection for me. Maybe peters right, you do need a hug. I know, i know just not from an A-hole like me.... Approval of Canada's new militaristic policies, where did that come from, the NDP website....living up to agreements and our status as a G-8 nation, does not mean "new" militaristic policies. As for the williness shown by our soldiers to get the job down, is nothing new....Those jobs being given to them by the freely elected government of Canada...not something they ( our Nations Soldiers) just came up with on thier own, and certainly not just to showcase thier job skills, and training.... Hand in hand comrade but I'd have to qualify that by making conscription strictly for the homeland defense of our borders. I would prefer a Prime Directive - a strict policy of non-interference not just for military operations outside of our country but also for the kind of interference the Swiss are famous for and the US of course - aiding and abetting dictators. In lieu of a PD all offensive military operations would require a national referendum and a force made up of volunteers only. As for funding offensive operations I would require that war-bonds be the only means available. Offensive operations should be user pay only. You buy it you own it. What your proposing is a military within a military, one for defense and one just incase our elected government decides to use our military for political gains outside our borders......it brings about so much baggage it becomes non feesiable. Nor does it solve any of your concerns, albiet one small one who is going to pay for offensive operations....but what about equiping such a force, supporting such a force, etc etc ....it does nothing in keeping with your PD of non interference....or pissing off other nations....Keeping in mind that orginally the majority of Canadians where in favour of getting involved in Afganistan.....
