BubberMiley Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 A videotape has come to light where Tory MP Tom Lukiwski states, ‘Let me put it to you this way. There's A's and B's. The A's are guys like me. The B's are homosexual faggots with dirt in their fingernails that transmit diseases.' ” Considering the high proportion of anti-gay conservatives that have particularly wide stances in public washrooms, perhaps we should be looking closer at how well he grooms his fingers. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...y/National/home Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

Stephen Harper will likely protect, offering some minor reprimand and calling the case closed. Actually, I believe this is just further evidence of the racist, xenophobic and homophobic underground that hides in the Conservative Party. Many of us know how borderline racist the old Reform portrayed itself to be and simply changing a name has no effect on fixing the root of the problem. I guess the real point to be made is I don't think it is likely that Tom Lukiwski has changed his mind about homosexuals. Getting caught is just a formality of pretending he is more sensitive. Nice to see that people still have an emotional reaction. This tape is 16 years old, and until we see it how do we know what the context is, it could be one of those tapes taken at a roast night, we just don't know. The time to make a decision on how to judge this is when we actually see it for ourselves, not based on the media reports. If this really is as bad as it looks at the moment then this guy really has some explaining to do, and may have to cut his political career short. scribblet Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 (edited) Wow, the oppositions must be really running scared to be digging out old stories to run as smear jobs LOL I`d like to hear the whole thing and the context also. Really though, how many of us have said something in the past that they regret now, or no longer subscribe to the views expressed then. It was over 16 years ago, what is the value of making this an issue with in now other than to get into some mud slinging. IMHO, it makes the NDP look pretty bad too. BubberMiley Posted April 4, 2008 Author Report Posted April 4, 2008 Wow, the oppositions must be really running scared to be digging out old stories to run as smear jobs LOL Actually the opposition didn't come up with the tape. It was the provincial NDP in Saskatchewan cleaning out their closets after the election. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

Have the offices been empty or what? Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
August1991 Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Conservative MP Tom Lukiwski apologized Thursday after the Saskatchewan NDP released a 16-year-old videotape featuring him and a young Brad Wall that contains sexist, racist and homophobic comments. The video was taped in 1991, inside the Progressive Conservative campaign headquarters of Grant Devine who was making an unsuccessful bid for re-election as Saskatchewan premier. It was released by the Saskatchewan NDP Thursday, after it was found in an office. 16-year-old videotape? And the G&M considers this news? Something else. There is something unseemly to this whole "thought police" approach to politics. I'm reminded of the kid in school who points a finger and then tells the teacher. Quote
BubberMiley Posted April 4, 2008 Author Report Posted April 4, 2008 I said it was the NDP - where was the tape when the Saskatchewan Party was in Opposition? Have the offices been empty or what? The provincial NDP is not the federal opposition. They said they found the tape while cleaning out their offices. Why would you find the timing suspect, considering there isn't even an election happening right now? Any party, including the Tories, would use such a tape against a political opponent. I think only the Tories, however, would whine and try to suggest the comments were anything but reprehensible. Shakeyhands Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 what does it matter how old the tape is? It's not as though he was a 16yr old punk when he said it. Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
BubberMiley Posted April 4, 2008 Author Report Posted April 4, 2008 Yeah, we can only hope that they'll get rid of the gays. Just keep voting conservative and you'll have your way. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

BubberMiley Posted April 4, 2008 Author Report Posted April 4, 2008 16-year-old videotape? And the G&M considers this news? Absolutely, unless you don't consider his remarks offensive. Something else. There is something unseemly to this whole "thought police" approach to politics. I'm reminded of the kid in school who points a finger and then tells the teacher. And yet you would likely have no problem with, say, quoting Barack Obama's preacher over and over. Sean Hayward Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Just keep voting conservative and you'll have your way. Great. Just great. Good to see all of us Conservatives can still get dragged through the mud because of something one insignificant person said 16 years ago. No matter what we do or say we are always shackled to the perception that all Conservatives are like that. Quote

No matter what we do or say we are always shackled to the perception that all Conservatives are like that. I would renounce my position on the party if it disassociated itself from people like that. Instead you'll hear a lot of talk about how long 16 years is and how The Globe and Mail is a rag. And conservatives like Monty Burns agreeing with the sentiments entirely. Wilber Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 No doubt in the heat of the moment I have said disparaging things about homosexuals and others who didn't deserve it in years gone by, most people grow up eventually. Still, you have to take responsibility for what comes out of your mouth regardless of the circumstances. Hard to say what was really going on in his mind or what he thinks now but my view on many things has changed over my lifetime, homosexuality included. While I can't say I understand it, I no longer give a s**t about a persons sexual orientation. I can't say I always felt that way. I'll bet a lot of people much over 40 would say something similar. Topaz Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Which would be worse him saying he didn't mean it or saying I was drunk I didn't know what I was saying. He did have a bottle of beer in his had when he said it and he was 40 years old when he said it. Old enough to know better even then but said it anyway. Because he is in government and they vote to make the laws this isn't good for the Cons to have someone say how he views gays. Harper will get him out of it just like he did with Moore and the laptop, which Moore doesn't have any longer just a blackberry to view his "girfriend"!! Quote

peter_puck Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 I'm entitled to my opinion. You don't agree that the gays caused the AIDS epidemic? I thought everyone knew that. Gays did not cause the AIDS epidemic. It was caused by socially awkward 15 year old boy in the jungle who was left at home to take care of the monkeys while his parents were away. In North America it spread rapidly in the homosexual population, but in most other parts of the world the spread is mostly hetrosexual. If you blame anyone blame the people who used dirty needles (or the people who prevented the people with dirty needles from getting clean) ones. That is now it moved from gay men to all those women who refuse to date me. Quote
