Carinthia Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 (edited) How about some input from others now, considering that you as a mod are interested in input on the question? If they don't like my ideas then put something else on the table. I think we need some clarity on this or things will not improve. Sure "dear", we'll all get right on it. Army Guy Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 I have a proposal as well, i think we should open another topic call it "Slam the US", or "kiddies corner" this would give our new friend a place to go, allowing us to carry on in the rest of the forum without his personal attacks, or non negotiable theories... M.Dancer Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Don't know what he said because PolyNewbie finally has some company on my ignore list but coming from someone whose every post is an anti American rant regardless of the topic, the title of this one is rich. Yes....once some stops being inadvertantly funny and only annoying they go on my ignore list too. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us

It's good to see that some other posters are putting "US..." on ignore. He's got 40 posts a day, all slamming the U.S., and the amazing thing is the number of responses his posts get. I honestly don't even recognize this board as the board I joined, and believe me, I wouldn't have joined this board today. Seems to me if most people here ignored him, he would either go away or cease to be a disruptive force. I'm still terribly disappointed over his handle and the disrespect it portrays to Americans. And while he knows this, I get an email saying he's added me as his 'friend.' What purpose could he possibly have for doing that? I used to have such good feelings about Canada, and I'm trying to hang onto those feelings, but admittedly it's getting more difficult. I found this op-ed on the Washington Post, and I'm starting to believe it's true: In "officially multicultural Canada," hostility toward Americans is the last socially acceptable expression of bigotry and xenophobia. It would be impossible to say the things about any other nationality that Canadians routinely say -- both publicly and privately -- about Americans. On a human level, it can be rude and hurtful. (As it was on the afternoon of Sept. 11, 2001, when an acquaintance angrily told me that she would now have to curtail her travel plans because she was afraid she might be mistaken for an American.) And before some of you start in-- no, it's not "whining" to speak out against disrespect. It's not "hurt feelings" to want to be treated with respect. And there's no difference between saying "the U.S. had it coming" and saying "Americans had it coming." It would be just as ludicrous to say we aren't waging war against Iraqis because we declared war against Iraq, not Iraqis. I enjoyed this board because it made me think; it kept me on top of the issues, and it gave me viewpoints besides Americans'. It's no longer serving that purpose. Now the purpose seems to be to give USHaditComing carte blanche to disrespect Americans and slam the U.S. Edited March 13, 2008 by American Woman Quote
Army Guy Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 American Woman: Canada is no different than any other nation, we have our share of bigots, and racists, pompus asses, actually we have alot of them" pompus asses" that is...but don't paint us all with the same brush as he has done...your better than that...and your better than him... I know it's hard to ignore him, kind of like dog poop on the street, you have to acknowledge it then quickly walk by....but eventually someone will scoop him up and put him where he belongs... Thanks Army Guy. I didn't mean to imply that I'm now painting all Canadians with the same brush-- I would never do that-- but I've always believed there was good will between our nations, and I'm having a more difficult time believing that these days; but I am trying hard to overcome it. It's pretty difficult to ignore the disrespect he's brought to this board, as well as the effect he's had on it. Army Guy is right-on in his assessment. Quote

He's a troll and not particularly bright or funny, which in my book is the final straw. If anyone wants to feed him that their business but I won't be adding my 2 cents to his meal allowance. Please come back and if you would like me to change my name then ask nicely and I will go to the mods and make the request. Really! If it's that terrible for you to be reminded of the truth then I can spare your feelings at least. I think the reason why Canada pays so much attention to the US agression and evil it is doing in the ME is because we care about you Americans. We were your best friends before you had to start your Iraq war and we told you we didn't want to be a part. It's called tough love dear. You won't get the same tough love from France because you people sincerely hate them with all your heart and soul because it turned out that they got it right on your phoney Iraq war. Quote When the US stops killing them over there they will stop killing Americans over here.

Hmmm....I missed this tidbit as you were rushed out the door (banned)! Canada has never been America's "best friend".... ally...yes.....biggest economic trading partner...yes...but not BEST FRIEND. No reason for a nation state with varied interests to have a best friend. But if one insists on such unlikely descriptions, the USA's "best friend" has been the UK for many many years.
