  1. Please, tell us how you pull doctors out of your ass! You'd be very valuable. Do you really think the unemployment rate among doctors is 30-40% and they are all just waiting for more public funding?
  2. Does CBC get a fax of every search warrant issued? Was Newsworld there when Guite and the Liberal fraud artists were picked up on warrants? Were CPC cameras right behind? Come on, common sense here. Someone tipped off CBC at the very least.
  3. I think Canadians are being mislead by a media hungry for a headline and by foolish observers like those on this forum. The Conservatives haven't taken any money. They are suing Elections Canada for ripping them off. This raid is hugely undemocratic. When an elections commission raids political offices that are suing them for wrong doing, you generally think of Zimbabwe or Malawi. I really don't think of Canada. But today, you do. Elections Canada is intimidating the CPC into dropping their suit. Silly. The fact that the RCMP and Elections Canada called the Liberals and CBC to film it is further evidence, quite priceless. This is clearly the most undemocratic thing I've seen in a long time. Bureaucrats threating political parties with force and police when they are sued. Yikes.
  4. The Tory budget was balanced. It's a Liberal motion pushing us over the edge. Why does the Liberal party back a motion that will put us into deficit? That's not sound fiscal policy. That's just playing politics.
  5. And Dion can win supporting deficit budgets? Don Drummond asserted today that we cannot afford this. Why does Dion want to run large deficits? Is that the Liberal way? Must be.
  6. People that stop in merge lanes.
  7. But that's unaffordable. A .10 point cut in income tax isn't very marketable.
  8. There is already a tax break for tuition... in fact, you don't pay any tax on tuition, and you get a huge credit every month your in school. You can see a few thousand in tax savings easily. An RESP would be tax deductable twice. Or, if like an RRSP, you'd be contributing in low tax years (when your younger) and withdrawing in your highest tax years (generally, when your kids move on to university). Bottom line, there should be little incentive from the government for kids to go to post secondary. If you don't want to fork out the $20k needed or don't think it's worth $20k, then don't go and keep a spot open for someone that can. I need not be subsidizing liberal arts degrees and having people pursue their life passions. No reason to. If it's worth it, people will buy it.
  9. What a spanking. Taft is definitely gone. I'm disappointed to see Hinman not be re-elected, however that will likely go to recount (it's like 50 votes or something). Good for Ed. This results essientially gives him the right to tell the media to go to hell.
  10. That might have been premature. He doesn't have that one in the bag yet.
  11. Looks like that came somewhat true... the Liberals did pick up two so far in Calgary, but lost several in Edmonton.
  12. PC Majority, easily. Maybe even gains on last time from the results so far.
  13. Your right with that. There are actually few rural ridings once you consider the smaller cities. My prediction PC 55 LIB 20 WRA 5 NDP 3
  14. I'm living here now and yes, there is a considerable white gang influence in the schools here... mostly founded on cocaine trafficking. Kids with rich irresponsible parents are all around here, and the cocaine dealers are eager to fill that market. And it's primarily white youth running it in the SW. In the SE you have an Indian influence, same with up in the NE. The NW is primarily SE Asian and Chinese. The gangs in Calgary really do cover all races that are present here. Calgary has a particular Asian gang issue because they seem to kill each other more and more recklessly than other gangs. But a young (white) immigrant was shot to death at the community centre in the affulent neighbourhood I'm next too, by two white kids over a little marijuana. I have siblings that went to school with these kids that did it... rich white parents.
  15. Still the lesser of the four evils really. At least accountability is one of their pillars, no other party seems to care.
  16. You can't get a life insurance plan for someone that will be dying in a week or two. That's the bottom line. The offer was never realistic if it wasn't a top up. Cadman was one of three guys in the room. He's to be believed. He made his case to the nation already. I'll take his word over that of someone not there. Yup sure. That's true. It's a sexy story for the Liberals though, and that's all they speak of now. Even though fundamentally, it's so highly unlikely, irrational and ridiculous that it will end in some mud on the face of the Liberals riding this one at full speed.
  17. Thinking that more money being spent by Edmonton will solve all the problems, ie., the platforms of the Liberals, NDP and PCs.
  18. Tom Flanagan isn't going to say anything, Harper isn't going to say anything. Cadman is dead. The Liberals are seriously wasting their time with this one. But, brilliant as always Goodale comes to rescue! "Under the existing parliamentary life insurance plan, if members cease to be MPs they can keep their insurance but the premiums go up and the benefits go down," Mr. Goodale said. "Did the Conservatives offer to make up that difference in exchange for Mr. Cadman's vote? Was that the offer?" http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20080301.CADMAN01/TPStory/TPNational/Politics/ Was it not already established that paying compensation in order to recover losses because of an election was ok? Looks like Goodale saved Harper's ass. I don't think offering to top up insurance contributions in the case that he loses his seat is unethical at all. In fact, it's the responsible thing to do regarding this family. Good for them if they made such an offer, very thoughtful and responsible.
  19. A few hundred billion for another war similar to Iraq is an awfully expensive alternative to dealing with us fairly. Alberta has your ticket. Your going to have to pay our price though... hmm... I'm sure it will be more reasonable than the cost of another war. More oil here than in Saudi Arabia. Do you want secure supply or not? Certainty isn't free, you know that though I'm sure.
  20. I hope Turner was right in his analysis and the Liberals force an election on this! Wow, how great would it be? You have the dead guy telling the nation there was no offer... the offer could never actually exist since no one would offer such a policy... And they think Canadians are that stupid? Maybe a poor reflection on the intelligence of Mr. Turner and the people in the party feeding his opinion.
  21. That's because we're a small country with few real foreign interests.
  22. I voted today and I didn't vote Tory. None the less, they'll win, and win big, which is fine with me. Just wanted to send a message to ol' Eddy that I'm a little sick of the reckless spending. Too bad too few other Albertans aren't as rational about it all.
  23. Ahh, the reasons for seperation and the evidence of a distinct society in Western Canada just keeps growing.
  24. I have zero loyalty to Canada and I've lived here my entire life. There is a riding outside of Montreal named after my family, and on one side we've been here for 400 years. The time you spend in Canada means nothing. Some of us just couldn't give a rats ass about nationalism. I'd be one of them. I'm Canadian because I am. But I certainly wouldn't hesitate to be America, Dutch, Norweigan or Aussie if the price was right. Who cares? The flag you live under generally means nothing about your happiness in the Western world. I know people here much shorter than that who are much more patriotic about Canada than I'll ever be.
  25. No chance. The bottom line facts are that they are far more productive and cost much less. That's all that should matter. Buzz might get all teary eyed and sentimental for you, but that's not going to put bread on the table. The autoworkers unions and their ridiculous demands have sunk their respective companies. Oh well. We can use them out West.
