How are you privy to all of this secret stuff that no one in Canada knows about? You know how much CBC would pay you for your exclusive insight?

Bagotville is pretty far from Ottawa... that's what a 5 hour drive? That's unreasonable. And I doubt if there is regular Air Canada first class service, but I may be wrong.

That doesn't make him any more intelligent or interested in his people. He's there for political gain and that only. Remember when he removed the Canadian flag to bully Martin into his way. Let's face it. Newfoundland isn't worth a second thought, their population and contribution to Canada is about the same as London or Burlington. They have a disproportionate voice and a completely irrational one. It's a sad reflection on the intelligence of those involved in the media to give this guy as much air time as they do. And I think it's rather foolish of you Dobbin to believe that Williams will accept Dion with open arms. Give it a few weeks and he'll be back at removing flags and crying in the corner.

Toronto Mayors Homeless Initiative
geoffrey replied to Oleg Bach's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Why are you homeless then? I don't see it out here. But that is how Canada deals with problems, especially health issues. Are you kidding me??? Canada hasn't had this low of unemployment in decades, everyone is making much more than before. And your telling me the government is doing a disservice to your parents because they treat unemployed people poorly? Your disgracing everyone that worked harder, in poorer conditions for much less by sitting on these forums instead of being out working. No sir. Those that built this country wouldn't sit on their fat asses while a huge chunk of this country suffers from a labour shortage. Get on a Greyhound and drive out to Ft. Mac. You might be an unskilled idiot, but surely you can swing a hammer for $25-30 an hour. Freeloading self-entitled lazy people. Your essientially confirming my views of homeless people. Poverty in Canada, for the healthy, is purely a choice. Who's going to pay your way then? -
It has very little to do with defense spending. Your not going to save much in the big picture by tendering a bid there. It's the small things that add up though, that cause trouble. This shows that tendering can be just as open to ethical concerns as sole source. Perhaps even more so as they are under the guise of competitive bidding. At the end of the day, the government has no obligation to purchase the cheapest item either. The relationship between buyers and lobbyists is going to win or lose you the bid. I've been involved in lobbying and I left the the industry and whole field I was in because I couldn't ethically handle it anymore. It's an unavoidable situation though. Wining and dining after work and golf tournaments and what not are a fact of life in sales, to business and to government. Having a situation where lobbyists and buyers can't meet is surely not efficent either. Meeting vendors in person is key to determining productive business relationships. However, in the end the best personality and the company with the biggest perks always wins. Your concerns are valid, but there isn't a way to deal with them without stalling the government and making more inefficiencies. These things do work in the corporate world. There is no reason why they can't in government, if there was competent employees and responsible management.

Thanks for setting this up Greg, it's good to get insight and have your questions answered by the leader's themselves. Great job. -
Duceppe to make French his priority in Parliament
geoffrey replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
We wouldn't have to deal with French. -

You know how much we pay into Indian affairs every year? Do you know the value of settlements in Canada? If you believe that, you have no idea of the true cost of the Indian problem. It's a social scourge that deminishes this country's ability to provide an improved standard of living to the majority. The problem and the cost is much bigger than you think. If tomorrow we treated them like everyone else (the least racist viewpoint here), Canada would be a more just, fair and wealthy place to live. -
Natives win title and rights to large swath of B.C. land
geoffrey replied to jennie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
By all means, a Tepee and death by 30 awaits you with open arms. I'll gladly fork out some cash and buy you as much land as you want in a godforesaken nowhereland if you promise to never come back to society or ask for anything. I'll even throw in a spear, with a stone point. Maybe even some pelts you can wear about. If Indian culture is so superior, where the hell is their leadership now? -
Duceppe to make French his priority in Parliament
geoffrey replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Leafless, this might be good news. We give Quebec unilingual French... as a concession, they allow the rest of the provinces to make themselves officially English only. No more bilingual labels, no more bilingualism period. Except for New Brunswick of course. -
Is it time for Toronto to vote Conservative?
geoffrey replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Your math is also intellectually unsupportable. -
Because you and I pay for it by working. They do nothing. Why do they deserve anything? People with real disabilities are different. They need help. Unfortunately, all our resources are wasted on the lazy instead. It would sell in my riding, and most Calgary ridings. It elected Klein. See above.

We all have a discounted formula compared to say, PEI. BC is hugely underrepresented and Alberta is pretty bad too. Worse than Ontario. They need to be fixed first. Especially BC. -
It's not for everyone, but that's where the money is at if anyone's looking. I was thinking about making a switch to Toronto this summer, won't make nearly as much and my expenses would be about the same. Why would I do that? Plus the lifestyle is so much more work focused in TO. Ugh.

Boycott Catholic, Anglican, United churches
geoffrey replied to jennie's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Should have left them in the stone age, think of the hassels it would save now. So we owe them for the schools, alright, that's reasonable, living people only with evidence. But first, they need to collectively pay for all the property damage and crime they've caused in Canada. Every last penny. If I'm expected to shoulder a collective expense on racial grounds, so can the Indians. -
We pay while Indians live in luxury
geoffrey replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Again, we have a bunch of Indians in Alberta that literally shit all over their houses and we're going to foot the bill to build new ones and keep them in hotels in the mean time. The Piikani first nation has declared a state of emergency because their houses are in such disrepair, and filthy. Not because of the white man, just because they can't take care of them. On the 6:00 Global news they showed one house where the residents were using a weight bench as a toilet while excreting into their bathtub. Where the toilet was, we're not sure. Probably a result of residential schools or something. Anyways, this just sounds like typical Indian whining, until you read these two stories along with it: http://www.theglobeandmail.com%2Fservlet%2...orce_login=true http://www.cbc.ca/news/story/2006/06/28/pi...i-finances.html -- The band received $64 million in cash because they protested a dam. Soon after, they are under investigation and government management because they can't spend their money. They have $54 million in the bank. Yet they can't clean the crap out of their houses and expect us to foot the bill? The racism in Canada is out of hand. These Indians get way too much based on their DNA. If I trashed my house and left it to rot, I wouldn't have the government bailing me out, especially if I had $54 million in the bank. What an outrage. Watch your 11:00 news if your in Alberta to see the images of these houses... it's not the government's fault here. Just slobby people. And your about to pay for it. -
Move to Alberta rather.

Which of "da four pillows" of his plan does that fall under?

Paying athletes for performance does nothing to help them get to the Olympics. This is a bad idea. The money could be better spent getting more youth involved in sport. The nations that have extraordinary results compared to populations aren't doing it because they pay their atheletes for medals, but because they have very active populations. If no kids start out, there will be no world class athletes. Never the less, the government doesn't pay me to pursue my passions, so I've got to wonder why we pay athletes. Perhaps the Olympic teams should be self-funded through fundraising and whatever else, corporate sponsorship. I have a hard time paying for Olympic sport, despite skiing and biking with some team members regularly. It's a good role model to kids, yes, but I think the dollars are aimed in the wrong direction.

That highway clearly needs to be 4 lane. Without a doubt. The traffic moves very well and very fast now, but it's safe. The last time I drove that a few years back, it was scary and dangerous. There is enough traffic there to justify 4 lanes. And it looks like it will be 4 lanes all the way from Toronto to North Bay very soon. I find it hard to believe many would take the railroad. You need to drive up North, you can't just walk around after taking the train. Add that hassle and cost to the experience and no one would use it. Anyways, I love Northern Ontario, I wish it could have been on better circumstances and a longer stay, but with that road improved, I'm much more likely to make the trip again in the near future.

I slept in a university library once by accident, no one gave me any grief. Other places that come to mind is under a bridge, perhaps in a box, maybe even in one of the ATM places, I always find homeless types in there. I've slept out in the mountains well below -20. It's possible. Chilly, but possible. Why should I be buying houses for people? Get like 10 of them together and rent the crappiest apartment you can find. Could get your rent down to like $50 or $70 a person depending on your area of Canada. If people all want their own place, they are dreaming. That's not a reality for most Canadians, let alone the place to draw a poverty line. Possible and comfortable are two different things. We have no business in giving comfortable. Just a possibility to survive. Unless, or course, they want to work for it. Food and shelter for hard labour. That works for me. But no free rides.

I was going to say, I'm pretty sure Hugh isn't gay.

Nope, not needed. There are warm places to sleep all around.
