Have you ever served in the Military?

Please don't talk to me as if I don't understand warfare. There is no versions of warfare. There's just the dead and those who don't know they are dead yet.The smell of rotting corpses in the the African sun is unmistakable. Or the sharp scent of recently exploded IED. Or how bout the cries of those who lost loved ones. Because no matter what language they speak or color of the skin. Pain still sounds like pain. Screams of agony still sound the same. The smell of the dead does not change. You should know those things before you callously discard lives.

To be honest, all of you are wrong. JBG's point is to break the will to fight (Entropy), not to slaughter everyone. The problem is, he does not understand how to explain it correctly. The rest of you are wrong in that when used correctly; Entropy is effective in ending wars quickly. IE Less people killed. By example of this I give you world war one. Which was far less Intrusive on the daily lives of people compared to World War 2. (Im not saying both did not affect lives, but not to the same degree) On the other Hand JBG you don't realize the level of destruction and Chaos your proposing by total warfare. Its too easy to lose control of your troops and with the sophistication of are Lethality that could really cause some major damage. More so, than we even desire. I guess the only thing I can say is go somewhere like Kosovo/Mogadishu/Bosnia/etc where Total Warfare has occurred and you will see the true horror of what your propose.

JBG, I know what point your trying to drive at. But your perception of what you ask for is Horrific. Entropy based warfare should be the most absolute last thing an army should unleash on any society. Ill give you a prime example of why it should not in a minute. Entropy Warfare takes on 3 "idea's" if you will, they are Disruption, Friction, and Lethality. Usually depicted as Bubbles (not really important) but at OCS they talk about it. In the overlap portions you have. Disorganization (Friction and Disruption) Critical Function Destruction (Disruption and Lethality) and finally Maneuver Attrition (friction and Lethality). In the overlap of all three is Maximum Entropy. You cant look at attrition based Factors. The idea behind Entropy warfare is to give you a Balanced view of the Friction and attrition caused on a society. Now Here is the skinny. While used in certain situations its effective (think South Carolina Militia in the Revolutionary war Disruption of supply lines and Friction (attrition was not really the goal)). When we go for Maximum use of Entropy. It blows up in are faces. Chaos ensues because discipline breaks down as troops violate laws and such. Sherman s troops in Georgia are still cursed in the south today because of the damage it did to the economy. It took years for the south to get even remotely caught up to the rest of the country. Another example of Inflicting Entropy Warfare on Someone. Post war Germany world war one. The sanctions put on Germany bankrupted the country which in turn bankrupted us. Which led to the rise of the Nazi Party. As a former soldier, I will tell you right now, for no reason other than the very most dire consequences would i employ total warfare. If you need to use Entropy warfare the correct way is to use part of the model. Not to maximize the destruction of your enemy. Thank you. I better get an a on this report.

Your right its better to endure Suicide bombers and Rocket attacks and do nothing about it. Thers nothing fair about war Kuzadd. People die in gruesome ways. Hamas is not a collection of people from outside of Palestine its made up of Palestinians. SO if they want to make war on Israel, guess what Palestine is going to suffer for it. I have mixed opinions on this. The First four days of Conception the cell is Biologically a blank cell. Its not till it divides and DNA is formed that it becomes "Life". That being said. I refuse to call women who have abortions as Murderers. But I will say Abortion for the sake of Abortion I frown apon. Women who are raped for instance I believe should be intitled to abortion. Or In cases of Medical need. Mr. Canada your argument is an emotional one and one many people share. I believe that what we need is better Birth Control and better parenting to avoid situations that abortion is commonly required. Obviously Abstinence is best. But in lue of that I would say better Birth Control is the ticket.

What saddens me is the change in the meaning of being a republican. Its not about dictating lifestyle and morals its about limiting government and keeping a strong economy. Morals were never associated with being a republican or a democrat thats a product of polerization. Its not about whats best anymore its whats going to get the greatest emotional response. Emotional response does not equate to Reason.

So marriage here has certain laws attatched to it that effect the standard of living of people. Be it what you put on your W-2 for tax season or for Insurance purposes. The fact that Traditional Marriage is a sacred institution for you does not mean it is necessarily for someone else. Part of being a Republican and Conservative is knowing how to limit government interference in social issues. My question to you is, How is Gay Marriage effecting your standard of living? If you don't like gay Marriage, don't go the wedding. Join a religion that does not allow gay Marriage in there congregation. And please refrain from the strawman arguments about polagmy or beastiality, because that is Intellectually lazy.

Well I was actually talking about the 300 or so fired that led up to Israel Saying. "Enough is Enough" I apologize if I did not make that clear. Also I think its hard to tell the difference between civilians and Militia or Hamas or security force if you prefer. They clearly don't have a standing army. And they do use civilian facilities to fire the rockets from. So we are at the mercy of the media. Was that guy who helped load the missle a civilian because he was not armed? Or is that kid in training for suicide bombing in the building when the planes destroyed the rocket launcher on top of the building a civilian. I think you get the picture.

Myata, As someone who took the intial reaction that you proposed and then switched to your stance on the issue the more information I got. I think your missing the point here. South Ossetia was not lobbing 100 rockets a day into Georgia. I think its a bit unfair to make the same comparison. Even you have to admit, that so far. The Israeli are doing a pretty good job at hitting only military targets. Also of that 200 dead I read that most were Military/security forces or Hamas organization members. Were also not talking about random bombarding of a city either.

BC Chick, I understand the message your getting across. Its not right to smash down the destitute with even more problems. The Case with Gaza is unique in that Arab countries fund the continuation of this conflict. Its in there best interest to keep Israel Fighting with the PLO and hamas. There only chance of ever getting back Israel is to paint them as the aggressor. If you look at this chain of events. The Gazians? Had a chance to make this work. The Israelis pulled out all the Jews and turned over control to them. They chose to lob missles at Israel. I guess my question is, do you expect Israel to just sit there and take it? Would you expect the US to sit there and let mexico or canada lob missles into texas or North Dakota? Obviously not. With this current situation the more I read about these attacks the more I find that Israel WAS in fact careful on who they targeted. Most of the buildings were in fact government security stations. Most of the people Killed were in fact legitimate targets. Were civilians killed? of course. Show me a war in history that did not result in the death of innocents. I think you need to maybe step outside your box and look into WHY did Israel choose to strike. Did Israel Warn Gaza to stop shelling? If somoene were shooting at your Home, How long would you take it before you shot back?

Explain to me how Gay Marriage would Impinge most of those.

Its not the part of the US or Canadian Government to regulate lifestyle. Gays do not infringe on your rights, so why bother to dictate lifestyle. How does Gay Marriage hurt you? I may be pretty conservative but part of being conservative is knowing that its not up to us to decide how people choose to live there lives, as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others.

The chinese are one 9/11 away from telling Pakistan to stick it. They are having problems with muslim's in there western provinces now too.

I agree probably too early to sipher through the propoganda by either the Jews or the Muslims. However I maintan while its easy to identify an Jewish Military target. it is not so easy with the PLO and Hamas. At what point does a building become a viable military target? Is it when it is used in an offensive capacity? Or as a training site for suicide bombers? Who decides at what point is it "Okay" to fire at a school that has launched 20 or so missles at you over a month period (im using that as an example). The best thing for the Arabs to do would be to cave to every demand the Jews make, and get back to peace. The Jews need to restore electricity and commerce to the region. If you read the article it said they fired at PSF and Hamas infastructure. Civilian casualties are a bi product of Hamas long standing policy of using civilians as shields to attack from. (Missle fire from a church, school, etc) It also does not make clear out of the dead how many were actually civilians versus Hamas or Palastine security force personel.

They Fired at military targets and also Hamas had fired nearly 300 rockets at Israel before they responded.
