Alberta and Smith bend over... again... for Big Oil.
Army Guy replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Thats the fun thing about industries they come and go, and if the US decided to give venezuela our market share, our market would tank and theirs would expand....our position of strength is not as strong as the liberals think it is....The US will come out of this tariffs thing in a lot better shape than we would... -

That is more recent news, they are now going to ship oil from Alberta to NB by ship, the new terminal is for that endeavor,That being said Irving did say it would build a bitumen refinery if the transcanada pipeline was built, that was years ago , not sure what is on the books today, b7ut i'm sure that if the pipeline was started Irving or someone else would build a terminal, it makes business sense... -

You make it sound like the liberals built this pipeline, Actually TMX was a 75% complete when justin decided to buy it at inflated price 4.7 bil ...to finish the remaining 25 % it cost tax payers was 26.2 bil... something went wrong somewhere...how a company could build and sell a pipeline for a profit with only 4.7 billion and build 75 % of said pipeline....but give it to the liberals and poof. TMX pipeline does not carry bitumen, but rather I know they were talking about building a bitumen oil refinery in kitimat, but i don't think it got built , and transport the oil by rail because of the issues of pipelines...but i can't find a source that confirms it was built... https://www.fraserinstitute.org/commentary/proposed-kitimat-oil-refinery-just-another-barrier-oil-sands-development -

PP said he was going to get this pipeline built....how or when i have no details....Irving oil with the province of NB as partnership said they would build refineries to refine bitumen that was years ago, but i'm sure if presented with the same issue today why would they not build it they would have a monopoly on fuels for the maritimes. -

It would also mean, that the same oil which the americans buy off of us is then processed and turned into gas or diesel, and resold to Canadians because of our lack of refineries to refine bitumen, or even regular crude....so in the end we are going to pay out of pocket.... It would also could mean they cut that supply off and purchase from another country...without the us buying up huge amounts of oil, who would we sell to...and at what price...without a consumer our oil and gas industry would be sitting dead in the water....We need the US more than they need us.... -

My pet gopher could have managed better than any of the liberals in the last 10 years....look around you most government departments are not smoking but are on fire, and somehow you ok with it... -
Nobody is telling us what to do, our parliament is the only organization that can send this country to war....that being said Justin signed on to the new NATO agreement that states all members will achieve a 2 % of GDP, by 2025....that was 10 years ago we signed onto it.......and still our nation best is 1.38 % of GDP and says it needs another 10 years to hit 2 %....Trump is now talking about 5 % as the minimum...The second justin was in Canada he told the media he had no intention of keeping that promise....He had in fact lied to the globe....why sign onto an agreement if you have no intention of keeping your word.... It does not matter what you or i think about our military....the people that will pay the price are the ones in unifrom right now or those asked to step up....it is written in all our history, Canada has cheaped out on military expenses forever...and those that pay for those mistakes are regular Canadians....it is cheaper for us to bury our people than give them the proper equipment....you might change your tune if or when it is your granddaughter or grandson that is told to don the uniform it sh!tty equipment... Conventional armies are the red line no one wants to cross....and our government will put it's hands up when every a conflict appears, our sons and daughters will go to war....Having a bunch of nukes gives you no extra layer of protection....as Israel how much protection from conventional warfare do they have... Canada will change it's mind once conflicts start, when we are burying our sons and daughters by the plane load...As a people we are to silly to understand that fact....i mean it has happen with both world wars, Korea, and all the rest of them...

Can't put this all on her, Liberals were in power they could have spent good money on our security but instead gave the rest of the country the finger and feed canadians peanuts, or unneeded social programs...and for the most part Canadians let them do it... -

We did not build sh!t, Justin thought it would be a good idea to buy it, That's all on the liberals....Had they been listening to Alberta we would have a cross Canada pipeline to the Maritimes, so we could take advantage of cheap oil instead of buying Saudi oil at inflated prices.... tons of other pipelines could have been built, along with bitumen processing plants, even regulaR refiners so we did not have to rely on the states to process our oil then sell it back to us at inflated prices.... -

Would you say that canada has had the best interest of Alberta in mind in the last 10 or so years, i would say not really we have restricted our fossil fuel sector by so much which is Alberta's bread and butter, not to mention a large contributor to our GDP, and tax base....25 tariffs on energy would devastate Alberta's economy, who can blame her for trying to protect all of that.... If her sole objective goes against the interest of Canada why are they not a separation movement...like the bloc party, why is it only Quebec can do that stuff and get a free pass....any ways Alberta is as Canadian as any other province... -

Great so it is not a crises is it....the house is not burning down....see you in another 40 to 50 years we'll talk about the next step... The liberal government failed to sell this to Canadians, can't just call it a crises and walk away from the mic...collect some money give it back to Canadians and call it a win...Your side failed....all the blame belongs to the man in charge of this circus....and in the coming election we will see what the conservatives come up with.... -

Yes , because liberals don't politicize anything.. Let's clear the air...Justin has had 10 full years to accomlish anything he wanted to...most of that he has enjoyed a majority of support, so anything was possible, ANYTHING...he choose to do nothing thats not on harper, me any conservatives thats on liberals and liberal voters because you voted for him 3 times in a row.... Blaming shit on harper is a worn out excuse, justin has used it for 10 years now....Harper paid for his mistakes by not getting reelected....just like justin is going to pay....You saying conservatives have no plan means nothing, PP plan has been put in the media hundreds of times, and your going to hear it more as the election comes closer....i can assure you your not going to like it...but it is going to be better than the liberals inaction plan.... Are you a climate expert now, if not how can you say conservatives are going to make it worse....you have not even taking the time to find out what the plan is....your just chirping into the wind right now... Thats what most canadians feel right now , climate change is OK as long as i don't have to invest in it...paying a few more cents at the pumps is their limit...Climate change is not an election issue, housing prices , food prices, trump those are the things Canadians want fixed right now, climate change may place a distant 4 or 5 place... The left can chirp all it wants it does the same thing when it comes to social programs we cant afford, Canadians don't care if we cant afford them, they want their piece of the pie....another example of that is during the pandemic, how many canadians applied for programs they did not deserve or qualify for... it cost the country billions...Canadians have always had their hands out....it has become who we are now....gimie gimie .... Even the liberals are changing strips, on the carbon tax they don't believe in it either.... Freeland would ditch consumer carbon tax if chosen leader: source -

Since when is protecting Alberta jobs a bad thing, i mean liberals have made it a trademark move, remember SNC lavin, justin broke the law protecting french jobs.....so again what is wrong with protecting jobs....not just any jobs but jobs that bring in good value to our GDP, thousands of jobs would be affected if energy hits our oil and gas sectors... -

That attitude comes from the liberals inaction, they talked a good game even declared it a crises...but did very little else...the collected billions in carbon taxes every year, which could have been used to pay for homes to get off heating oil, put solar up...upgrade insulation , hundreds of things they could have done....even paid to replace those coal fired power plants still in operation....reducing emissions way more than 8.5 %... Another part of the attitude comes from liberals defending this lack of action, i get it it's your home team but come on don't preach about climate change when you team fumbled the ball big time....we have only made it 8.5 % of the way to our signed internationally agreed target...since 2015...at this rate it would take us another 40 to 50 years to make it...thats a failure in my books.... The target date was 2030... The New Liberal candidates like carney want to continue done this path, only he wants to accelerate it, bring the price to 170 per tonne now....That's 60 cents more a liter... and since he has been advising justin on finance matters for years now, what makes you think this spending spree is going to stop....It's not....He is another Justin...and we have enough of justin for now....it is time for the liberals to go... -

Yes , lets starting blaming me for climate change, but i got the message loud and clear, we are in a crises according to the liberal government and their messaging...and in that crisis all they could come up with is "lets pass all this back on to the consumer" and give him a small cheque at the end of each quarter to make it look like we care about the environment and the little people... Meanwhile back on planet earth, we have only managed to make 8.5 % or our international signed agreement of 40-50 % reduction of emissions....Now you can try and blame the conservatives or me, to which i reply blow me...The government you voted in screwed this up, not me, not the conservatives....and YOU played a part in it....once again just in case you didn't hear it the first time blow me... I have had 10 years to reduce my carbon footprint, and i did what i could....i have said this on this forum many times...I did put solar on my home, did an energy audit, upgraded my insulation, had a complete heat pump system installed, along with energy efficient funerance, put in a pellet stove, did all that because the government claimed it is a crises.....So i did all i could, was it enough i think so........That does nothing to change the fact that your government you voted for did the absolute minimum they could....and touted it as their climate change plan that would meet our signed to agreement to bring down our emissions by 2030...and it failed... I did not mention any other countries, but yes it is a global issue and without a global response your pi$$ing into the wind. what ever Canada's response is means nothing if it is not matched by other countries... One would think the government and all it's experts would have including population growth, increased housing, and infrastructure into their calculations, but i guess they skipped those high school classes... Shit most homes in NB are still using heating oil, the worst bulk fuel you can use...just recently there was a program to get your oil funerence replaced but it did not go far enough, and many could not afford to do that...So many things the liberals/NDP could have done with that carbon tax money but they did nothing of any real value...and when it comes to finger pointing they have no one but themselves to blame... -

Liberal Party Leadership Race
Army Guy replied to NAME REMOVED's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sure he is going to be concerned, why would he not be , Carney is the only person that is not tied directly to Justin and all his baggage...on the other hand Carney also has a huge mountain to climb with little time to do it, come march Canadians are going to have to make a choice and most will ask who in the hell is Carny and what makes him ready to run the country...One of the main factors a lot of liberals have dropped from the race, because there simply is not enough time to properly ruin a campaign, (thanks Justin) I think Trump and all he is bringing is taking up way more space than Carney is, Carney does not have a whole lot of time to start making head way in those polls... -

Your still don't get it, Liberals/NDP have had "10 years" to come up with an environmental plan that works, and does not require consumers to pay for it all....and they failed....i mean instead of giving that money back to consumers we could have invested in other areas ... anyways it does not matter if the tories have one or not, that is not their purpose in government is it? You had the ball and had all game to do something with it and failed.....blaming the conservatives for that failure is just ....a liberal thing to do...lie about it, deny it, blame harper , blame trump, but whatever you do DO not blame the liberals/NDP government....Just step up and own that failure.... -

In its annual emissions report, made public this morning, the Canadian Climate Institute said the country's emissions were cut by 0.8 per cent in 2023, to a total of 702 megatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. Under the Paris climate agreement, Canada committed to reducing its emissions by 2030 to 40 to 45 per cent less than what they were in 2005. Canada is down to 8.5 % of that goal, since 2015...and we are now in 2025 with still more 22.5 % to go at the very minimum...Your program is a huge failure.... https://www.cbc.ca/news/climate/canada-climate-institute-1.7327316 https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/12/19/emissions-in-canada-fell-last-year-though-still-far-off-paris-targets/ -
That's not what NATO wants nor is it what our allieds want, they want us to be able to a) defend our nation conventionally, and b) be able to send troops and machines anywhere around the globe to participate in any NATO intervention. Our allieds don't want any more countries to have a nuclear deterrent... there are no many in the world right now, do you that think that launching a nuke would be ok...one nuclear missile would would make Hiroshima look like a small firework display, bringing damage on a scale we have not seen before, entire cities would simply vanish , unhabitual for hundreds of years, first off you can not control the radioactive cloud that will poison thousands of kms of land....perhaps over another country that does have a nuke of their own, that much radioactive dust would be enough for a military response...now you've brought war to your own shores....Todays nukes are to scary for anyone to use....using one would mean the end of the world for everyone....those lucky enough to be turned to dust from the explosion would be saved a painful death that could last as long a as one week or a few more days depending on what dose you received..

It means your talking into the wind, and nobody is listening....for the most part Canadians talk a good game, but most have even failed to do a even little to their own homes /cars/ etc...to improve their carbon footprint....and then when they look at how our government is dealing with the situation ....the whole deal is one big scam, the government is making money, it gets to collect another tax, without doing anything for it... I mean you give me 10 dollars i give you back 12 dollars and poof we are tackling climate change your happy , i 'm happy...only nobody is looking at the results , because nobody cares... -
I didn't vote for the liberals 3 times in a row....that was all you, and you did it knowing full well the consequences, you did so by knowing how corrupt they were ...YOUR what is wrong with Canada....because your just like them...

Should talk to our PM, he says we are a systematic racist country, that we have no culture, our history is full of things that need to be apologized for, some of them are pretty bad....this very government has treated our vets with disgust, as do they treat those serving members, not only liberals but most canadians over all...our health care system has seen half a dozen people die in waiting rooms die over the last couple years and thats just NB, with the average wait times now over 18 hours or more, lets not forget that the education boards have given teachers more say of kids than the parents have..we live in a country were you can identify as a garbage can and people are forced to indulge you...lets not forget we pay a huge tax burden for anything we get in this country.... SO if the best you got is a toque and watching doug and bob Mackenzie reruns EH, we do have a country thats nice to live in, but it needs a lot of work....BTW i love milk in bags, why can't we do that with everything....
