So how does thaat reflect on your orginal statement that our military members were being used by Harper, or are you agreeing that this current government is taking action to re equip our military ? and would you agree they are doing more than say any other government in the last 25 years ? Would you not agree that by raising our military profile to one that is front and center, that it would also bring the issues the military face on a day to day basis to the people. By creating more interest in the military we get more exposure, and maybe more support. It is this rise in status is making "some" not "most" a little nervous in my opinion....but when you look at the numbers i gave you these MASSIVE INCREASES are actually only 1100 additional soliders a year....When it has been agreed by parliment DND needs to increase to 70,000, those numbers were just so we could sustain a Battle group overseas, in this case 3300 soldiers....can you really tell me that is militarism, to the piont we as a nation should stand up and take notice...I think you really have to make a leap to get that far don't you ? But if you were sitting on this side of the bench, what would you be thinking, with out a doubt this whole Support the troops thing is over blown, to the piont everyone well almost everyone, will automatically shout out i support the troops....just so they are not labeled as something else. and i get that, but now the true colors are coming to the top, now people are saying our country is being militarised, which is it...DND told the government these are the numbers we need to sustain operations overseas...and 10 years later we are still 4000 short, but now the people are waving banners and saying slow down we are looking to much like the US..... I think Canadians don't give Sovereignity much thought, in my personal opinion they don't care , they shrug their shoulders and say we are not threaten...Uncle sam will look after us. Procurement chioces need to be agressivily persued because the state the equipment we have is in. as for force projection i think these 4 tiny outposts we are creating will be used for so much more, we are after all talking about Canada here. they will allow troops to have a footprint in those countries, to prepostion some equipment and supplies. We are talking maybe 40 to 50 pers at each outpost, these places will allow us to respond any where in the world alittle more quickly, not just for places like Lybia but DART missions, training missions, but also act as hubs for UN missions, the list goes on...40 50 guys does not mean Harper is placing his armies around the world to take it over... Remember we are the nation that struggles to maintain 3600 troops in Afghan can't be part of some world domination plan with 3600 troops. The military is looking for ways to cut costs and saving response time.

By the following article, their view is that Canada's military has increased in personnel and expense to prepared for war. Now I know some Canadians want a strong and bigger military and with the harmonizing our Canadian military to the US,those are getting their wish. I can understand having a nilitary of some strength but are Canadians ready for "search and kill" expeditions tied to NATO and the US? Thoughts? After all, having a military means people are trained to kill, at least in these days. http://www.ipolitics...rvative-canada/ I'm just curious but who's words are "preparing for war", increasing our numbers over a 10 year period from 56,000 to 67,000 over a ten year period is not preparing for war by any stretch of the imagination. Which currently places us in 74 th postion in comparison to the rest of the world. which is somehow suppose to lead readers into believing we are preparing for world, that Canada is becoming a Militarised nation, and you whats funney alot of people are believing this crap, even the media is pumping this crap out... We as in men and women of the armed forces have listened for years how Canadians have supported us, in fact most have said our military needs to increase in size, as it is to small to handle even a small earth quake in Vancover let alone a military crises some where in canada or abroad. Now the government takes action strugles to increase our manpower by 11,000 over a 10 year period , yes the math is correct thats a whopping 1100 troops a year....and now we are turning Canada into a militarised nation....preparing for war....Maybe instead of whinning we should be asking why a industrialized nation such as Canada can not meet it's orginal goals of 70,000 k , why do we struggle to increase our numbers by a meager 1100 people out of a nation that has on avg 36 million, and when people are clamouring for jobs.... Just so we are clear because SIGS CPL has already covered this piont, The primary job that we in the military are trained for is to close with and destroy the enemy...not Ice storms, not fight forest fires, not to search for lost people not dart missions, not peace keeping .... But to kill people...it's recorded in our military history and can be traced all the way back to it's orgins....yes i'm talking about the Canadian military....time to get use to that fact...we can't change our colors because you have grown into this touchy feely person, and don't like to think your neibor is capable of taking a life....the world is full of people with big sticks and they like to use them... Want to see what preparing for war looks like here is the starting postion of Canada's reg Military before the start of WWII i'll let you see how much it grows. In just 6 years. King and Canadian Foreign and Military Policy: 1921-1938 In 1921, William Lyon Mackenzie King became prime minister, and Canada embarked upon a policy of isolation. King instructed the Canadian delegation at the League of Nations to propose amendments to Article X of the League's covenant. This was the clause that prescribed military intervention by member states to prevent international aggression. The Liberal prime minister was completely opposed to any Canadian military involvement in the maintenance of international security. The Liberal government set the peacetime strength of the army at 10,000 officers and men. The permanent force was comprised of the Royal Canadian Artillery, two cavalry regiments (the Royal Canadian Dragoons and Lord Strathcona's Horse), and three infantry battalions (the Royal 22nd Regiment, the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, and the Royal Canadian Regiment). The Royal Canadian Navy was also greatly reduced in size and, by 1939, would have a strength of 15 ships manned by 1,000 officers and men. WYLY: Your joking me right, perhaps you can show we a source on this new found knowledge of yours, in my case i was working on a farm during the summer when i was 14, cutting pulp during the summer and fall at 15. but your right they are not real jobs, most Military members do not make this a carear, and instead use this as a jumping off piont for their future. Again the leadership, ethics, job knowledge the military provides are what civilian companies are looking for. As for competing lets see military has over 14,000 applicants a year and only take on 5000 no competing there, and with 64,000 members we compete for jobs internally every year... we can't get laid off perhaps you should check your facts again, members have been told they are no longer required, it was a huge issue during the 80 and 90's. not having to worry were your next pay check is coming from, ask some of those soldiers that were wounded in combat, dismebered or disfigured, ask they if they are still employed, no work mans comp for military members, and the pension they recieve i guess is ok if you like kraft dinner or hotdogs..... Yes we get free medical treatment then again so do you under our great health care system... dental for members are covered as it is part of employing healthy members we still pay for family members and if you ever visted a military dentist you would not complain... But your right it is a welfare job, one that we've signed on for unlimited liabilty, meaning i can be sentenced in a court of law for refusing to serve or charge that machine gun postion as order. your only worry is what exactly....I'm not saying my job is tougher than yours, but i refuse to say you got it tough and i should feel sorry for you and your circumstaces...after all we live in a country where the chioces you make you live with , you had the same oportunities as i had and could have choose the same path if you wanted...or for that matter been a doctor or lawyer, etc... little understanding of the real world, i use to think that about civilians then i grew up, see i've serve with over 9 different tours of shit holes around the globe, i think i have a pretty goof perspective on what is going on and what man is capable of and as the average Canadian you sir live a shelter life, on made posiable by largely military pers. to say you have a better grip on reality is well BULLSHIT. I'M going to chalk this one up to you don't like Military guys , maybe one of them pumped your wife or girlfriend not sure , but i do senase alot of envy on your part, but you do know the military does hire up until age 50 so perhaps there still is hope for you and your ego....As for the Rambo or calling us heros....you can call us what ever you want and it would not bother me one bit....but if you think that putting your life in danger when you don't have to is not a sign of couage then maybe you need to take a look at you standards again. they do it not for you they do these acts for comrads, or defenceless people....and its not for praise, or recongnition it's because they wanted to....And your right heros come in all forms any one imply so is full of shit. One members comments or acts does not paint us all with the same brush, maybe take some time and readjust your comments or opinions. -

RICK: I don't know where this Sheltered lives crap comes from but please feel free to explain in detail, As for your thinking we are better or more deserving than others your wrong, in fact we don't enjoy all the rights you take advantage of on a daily basis. Nor do we enjoy all the benifits you recieve as a Canadian citizen. and yes we do enjoy a few benifits thats not available to you, but they are few. As for the Hero status i think you'll find thats being driven by the general public and not the military it self. nobody has asked them to line the streets and wave welcome back banners, or shake our hands at the airport when we arrive, or buy us a few Pints of beer at the local tavern....sorry thats all on them, but i think your statement was made out of envy.. Yes i have been moved alot, and while they are hired by DND there is nothing stopping me from asking the moving company the same questions as i would to any contractor, and have not had one refuse yet. You are aware that crinmal back ground checks can be done on line with any computer access. -

Oh i get it it's ok not to hire Pedophiles , but the rest of us intolerant because we've extended that list to include Murders, rapists, etc etc my piont here is you have no ground judging me when you, yourself are just as guilty of being intolent. I do it to all the contractors that i've hired, and guess what I've NEVER HAD ONE REFUSE Yet, I've asked them to change those workers out and NOT once did they refuse. And if they are insulted tough shit, I'm sorry but my families safety overrides some hurt feelings. And i've worked along side some winners before, i'm sure they'd make your criminals look like chior boys, but then again i was armed, and had the training to deal with them. but working with badasses is one thing inviting them into your home with your family there to do some work or provide a service is another. But hey if you say i would,nt last a week then so be it. And yet thousands of companys give extra credits for military service can you explain that. Not bad for being a fake job...does working for you provide the same benifits... you make me laugh WYLY, so now we have come to this, my dick is bigger than yours... And yet who is being childish now.... OK you win, your job is real and mine is fake....Your dick is bigger.... And yes we do live a sheltered lives, we are kept in glass cabinets until something bad happens...I'm not allowed to watch the News, read a news paper, or even travel off the base, god forbid we inter act with real Canadians such as yourself..shit we might even be liked....I mean if it was not for all the hard work WYLY puts in, our nation would not be in its current shape it is....I just want everone to stop for a minute and give WYLY a hand for being a real Canadian. Wyly you don't have to like the people in the Military, we are not looking for your approval or praise, but regardless of what you think.... we do what we do for every Canadian, good, bad, or guys like you WYLE.... Ya it had a piont Omar has been on the battle field or locked up since he was 11 years old, what skills do you think he has, what makes you think he even except a job working for an infidel, because he's changed, give me a break....his hatred has only grown, you think letting him out early or even giving him some money is going to change that....your a dreamer.... -
I think what some of the posters are trying to say is why pick the banning of fire arms as your crusade when there are many more that kill more Candians smoking kills 100 Canadians a day, and cost the tax payers over 25 bil a year. drunk drivers kill 1500 Canadians a year and cost Canadians over 20 bil in damages. fire arms deaths.. deaths by drunk drivers. smoking deaths in Canada. smoking deaths in Canada. deaths from smoking world wide.

quote]their past is history to me (as long as they're not a pedophile) You do care, you stated as much, i'm sure there is a few more you would not hire as well, i wonder how far this belief would go if your customer base found out you've hire murders, terrorist, drug dealers if they would continue doing business with you, would you stand on your principles by keeping them employed if it meant the loss of revenue.... And yes while there are millions of jobs out there who do you think is going to hire young mr omar, except you of course....for just those reasons i spoke off. Unless of course it was another terrorist org they'd love to have him. he does have skills he can fire/ maintain a multitude of automatic wpns, RPG's, and make bombs, and can bullshit with the best of them. and he knows the Koran pretty well, are these skills your looking for. Or maybe your looking to cut terrorist some slack and train him so he'll have some other skills. -

Your missing the piont according to the law your guilty end of story.... Just what kind of future do you think Omar has,if he does not recieve a multi million dollar settlement, he might get a job as a walmart greeter...regardless of how much time he saved on his sentence, hoping that his name will be cleared of his charges, whats the odds in omars case next to none. -

Your right normally they are done before you are hired, but they can be done at any time, and if they find something they don't like and it is reasons for dismissal they are free to take action. It should matter if your going to plea guilty to something your not guilty off, i could understand something minor, but anything that could hamper you finding employment in the future, would need a second thought. -

Sure that would be your thought process, we do that for all problems, however if your employer would to do a criminal back ground check, what would they find, that you were found guilty of the following charges, or that you plea bargined for a lesser charge. -
I think you should recheck your facts again, the military, is being slashed, and projects have been canceled or put on hold. No new projects have been announced, and the ones that have been announce years back are still years from completion,

Your right i think this fairness is BS, there is nothing fair about any contract once our political masters get a hold of it. it might seem that way, but its not DND will eventually get it's trucks, but they will not be the ones we want or sometimes need, they will be the ones they can get the most political pionts off, which i mean is far more important than something as trival as say soldiers lives. The whole process was written by lawyers and politicians it needs to be written in laymen terms , and the whole process needs to be dumbed down and simplified. set it uo for sucess, and so it is efficient....trucks do not take over 6 years to buy...

The last time i checked this was a forum to debate various topics, i kind of enjoy Waldo, and derecks debate, i find it informative, covers both sides of the argument, and it's done without a whole lot of slander, or bitch slapping, which is kind of refreshing. they bring more detail than most posters, also refreshing. In any one topic there is normally 4 or 5 conversations going on, there is enough room for every one. In my opinion.

who is saying that, where would you rate our education, and our health care world wide, and where would you rate our military. And if it bothers you that much then change it, run for office, cut the military off totally i mean it does not bother you that Uncle Sam pays for and does most of it any way. Your happy free loading, but my bet is when your freedoms are threaten your the first to start whinning.....Do you even know the condition of our military, it's size, it's role.

Subject matter experts at what exactly, military equipment or purchasing, makes a huge difference, my wife is a purchasing god, but i don't let her pick out my power tools. Your concerned about being bias, are you saying PWSG is free of bias could not be influenced somehow. or are you saying Military members can not be unbias i mean they do have a vested interest to pick the best veh , but better yet they could pick the right vehs for the competition. Why not just eliminate the reasons to be bias, purchase equipment on a regular time scedule, lets not wait 30 years, and lets replace those that are scraped that same year, with separate approval, ie a truck is written off in an accident then that year it is replaced to maintain the numbers of the orginal contract, we don't do that, destroy one and thats it it's gone forever. Purchase a reasonable war stock. to keep units up to their orginal T&OE. lets add to the contract a seris of reasonable times to perform updates through out it's life on a regular basis, new tech comes out then purchases it and add it, i'm not talking about regular modifications, I'm talking about stuff we add on to midlife SLEP's, instead of waitng 10 or 15 years to do it. The Specs are a joke, they are written to be as vague as posiable, so there is not hint of favoritism to any manufacture. They are changed a hundred times until all parties involved are happy, DND, PWSG, Our Political masters. I'd like to know what are the your requirements are for a fair evalation. which like i've said before, fair has nothing to do with it These have more wieght to the equipment we buy than than specs do so how can that be fair. prime example of this is the LSVW purchase awarded to western star in BC. Veh DND had it's eye on was the HUMVEE, not even close to specs of the LSVW, but the US would not allow it's manufacture in Canada. I'll ask the question why does it have to have the appearence of being fair to the Canadian public ? because they are paying taxes, Do they have to approve every aspect of the purchases ? I'll say it again why can the government not just approve the amount and DND purchase something within that, why does purchases have to be politically micro manged. You mean like the LSVW, HLVW, Iltis jeep, TPAV, the list goes on, and on. The only way that would work if the were EX military, because iof you wear a uniform you still report back to the chain of command. PWSG should have a role as inspectors to ensure the procument runs as per Treasure boards regulations and laws, other than that what experience or knowledge do they bring to the table...
-
We need a massive restruture on how we purchase anything for the government, these chnages that the government proposes are not going to solve anything. Procurement used to be done this way anyway so no changes that way, only recently (Afghan) has DND had more say on the equipment purchased. Have you ever read a spec sheet the military sent into PWSG, its so vague you have to ask is this a truck or a plane....from these specs sheets a civilian picks samples of what they think they are looking for, Then it has to pass the political process which has hundrds of requirements they exam each sample on price, can it be built in Canada, is there any benifits to our country, how much of it can be manufactured in Canada, who's riding can it be built in, how many Canadian jobs will it create etc. all of has nothing to do with will it save lives, will it do the job. Then those samples are given to the Military so they can test them and recommend one, keep in mind the that decission has already been made by our political master...who have NO experience, knowledge of either in the military or doing large purchases, or contracts, the final and most important decision is(are there any votes in it) which is why we end up with the equipment such as MLVW, LSVW, 5/4, Subs, If the C-17 did not have any political pionts attached to it, it would not have been soled sourced or purchased in a timly matter.... It all comes down to money and votes....not lives...So this new process will work, soldiers will pay for these decisions with their lives, and when enough have died the public will demand a change... Can you honestly say that PWSG has any more experience on these multi bil dollar contracts, i mean they only come up every 30 years or so....Why not train these Military guys in the proper way, make it a trade, keep them in purchasing for thier entire carear. Keeping military equipment for 30 plus years is just plain stupid, and cost more over the long run. Can you blame them really , whats wrong with getting equipment that works, or fits the job we do. Whats wrong with letting the dept that uses the stuff to chose...tell them this is what funding you have make it last...want more justify why... Changing requirements, or getting as much on the contract as we can put in there, can you blame them again your going to keep it for 30 years, again stupid practices time for a change, time for changes that work, not for ones that chase votes....This is a problem that effects all Parties, even most nations....
-
As much as i'd like to blame it all on our government i think the military chain of command needs to share in this screw up, those military indivs involved in the contract know exactly what the contract regulations are and they disregarded them. this failure is on them. These guys already know that our current MLVW fleet is junk, half the fleet is sitting rotting in storeage yards awaiting to be sold, most of these vehs in these yards are in such bad shape they can not be used for anything but scrap. the other half have got so many restrictions placed upon them the are ineffective, such as can not be driven on public roads but only in training areas, speed can not exceed 50 kms. can not haul troops or heavy loads. The off the shelf MILCOT trucks we purchased were orginally for the reserves, they are great highway trucks, off road they suck A**,it's the first SMP truck that i've had to wear a helmet in as the ride is that rough. Anyways as per normal the regular force took most of that fleet away, to help ease the frustration of our main work horse fadding away to nothing. i've driven in some MLVW trucks with large rusted out spots on the floor, large enough to swallow a foot....well they are 30 years old what can we expect...30 years old , my question is why can we not afford to replace a simple piece of equipment such as a logistics truck, why do we have to wait 30 years to do so......if we can not handle this small, simple purchase we can forget about the F-35, ships...These procument guys who will never go to the field anyways don't care, if they did this project would not have taken so long, or become so complicated....now all they are doing is endangering the lives of the soldier that drive them... Someones balls should be swinging from the doors to NDHQ, with a golden plaque below them to remind this procurement guys "this is what happens when you fuck it up....want to meet the owner of these balls well they work in the canteen, serving coffee"... I eman it's bad enough we are having problems with existing contracts or programs due to budget retraints, but now we are doing it to our selfs... If we have learned anything in the last 4 years, it should be crystal clear that our entire procurement process sucks...and needs to be restructured completely....

You Sir, are comparing him to a 14 year old in Canada, still considered under our law to be a minor, still treated as a minor under our customs. Although he was a Canadian citizen, he was never treated as one, he was treated as any muslim of 14 years of age would be in a muslim country, as an adult, able to make his own decisions, his own choices, take a wife, get married, have children, go to war....He held a postion within his household. It is under this treatment that he acted, that he made the choice to take up arms... Sure, and like many sons i did take up dads profession. and like omar i made that decission. First off he as in Omar and his merry band of lawyers have yet to prove in a court of law he was in fact tortured, he has claimed it to be so, but i've also claimed that the moon is made of chesse. Stop making it sound like some decrepted form of torture, Soldiers are often deprived of sleep for 72 hours or greater, sure we are not of sound mind at the end of 72 hours, it has been compared to having 8 to 10 drinks....it does not make you a retard, and start spilling what ever i want to hear just to get some rest. It seems all you have is excuses...but nothing has been proven has it... I'm sure you can find "good kids" in jail for federal crimes such as murder, or terrorism...does that excuse them from there crimes, No, does that mean you invite them over to babysit your kids....Omar was charged and convicted of murder, acts of terrorism....does that make him a "GOOD KID" not in my neiborhood.... Owe him for what exactly, did you not read the 2 and last op i wrote, it explains how the government did exactly that and has made it stick for now. Canada does not owe him anything, except a ticket to the muslim country of his chioce, and just for shits a giggles i'm sure we can find enough Canadian citizens to pitch in for tickets for all his family as well. What has he done for this country, i mean in his life time what has he done for our country, has he paid any taxes, has his family paid any taxes, has worked a day in this country, has his family, he vuluntered for anything, helped any one,nope...according to law to be a canadian citizen all you have to do is be born here, then you have the right to piss over everything and anything and get paid for it...while good people who spend their entire lives living by our law, becoming a productive citizen , productive Canadian, spend their lives serving their country , their community have to sit back and allow OMARS get away with everything because by law all it says is if you are born here you can shit anywhere you like...including taking part in terrorist activites again'st allied nations....I get it it's in the law...does'st mean i have to like it...and i wonder what would become of this nation if we all decided to do it.... BTW who gives a shit, what you think of my grammar.. I was not aware that i was being graded on good grammar, you've must of been able to struggle through it to comprend my intention, which must of interested you enough to respond to it... Not all of us we able to go or afford to recieve the education you have recieved in your case a masters in english...see when i was 16 i was preparing for boot camp, and by 17 was serving my country in shit holes around the world you just learned about in school. and while my grammar my not be at the top of it's game i think my experiences can contribute to this forum. -

No they (the soldiers) are being compensated for their ( Omar buddies) "terrorist" actions taken against us and their own country men, ....You know in the service of our country defending those very rights that he has "claimed" were violated....He as an "ememy" of the state is looking at millions, for what exactly.... while those very same soldiers, "unquestioned" Canadian citizens who's families are also unquestioned Canadians who have bled for their country get a max of 250 K which is rarly paid out...Does that sound like justice...not from my end it does not... -

Army Guy replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Has it been proven in a court of law that he was in fact tortured,or his rights violated until it has how can we talk about compensation. 2. HOW CANADA’S SUPREME COURT SUBVERTED CHILDREN’S RIGHTS Given the facts of Omar’s situation, Canada’s legislative support for human rights, and the Supreme Court’s previous reasoning, its reversal of the order to request Omar’s repatriation is both shocking and mysterious, particularly since the court failed to address children’s rights and the issue of torture that figured so prominently in the Federal Court reasoning. The Court did confirm that the interrogations conducted by Canadian officials with knowledge that Omar had been subjected to sleep deprivation techniques signified Canada’s active participation in a process that violated international human rights and deprived Omar of his right to liberty and security of the person guaranteed by s. 7 of the Charter. It even found that the order to request Omar’s repatriation was an appropriate remedy. It is the reversal of this order on the grounds that it touched on the Crown prerogative over foreign affairs that is troubling. What does it mean to grant government officials such broad discretion to suspend the laws of Canada with regard to a particular individual, especially when that person’s rights were violated as a child? Its rationale for doing this was poorly explained, revealing some rather ominous cracks in what people have generally assumed to be an enviable legal regime. 3. ACTION NEEDED & LESSONS TO BE LEARNED Omar Khadr’s story presents the obscene spectacle of child abuse and torture committed before the eyes of the world. The fact that the Convention on the Rights of the Child can be so easily ignored, especially in circumstances that demonstrate violation of the prohibition against torture, is a matter of serious concern for all members of the international community. This is especially so in this case, where the violations were perpetrated and effectively condoned by Canada and the United States, both of which claim to be leaders as far as democratic rights and the rule of law are concerned. Despite the fact that the United States is responsible for the worst atrocities, Canada’s complicity is particularly troubling because Canada has ratified the Conventions which it’s Prime Minister and Supreme Court now choose to ignore. The case has revealed serious institutional problems in Canada. The partisan stance adopted by the Prime Minister and the Department of Justice with regard to one particular individual who was a child at the time of the alleged offence is troubling to say the least. If the arguments submitted to support government officials who have violated both international law and the will of the Canadian people as represented by Parliament do not represent a lack of good faith, they certainly demonstrate ignorance concerning both international law and Anglo- Canadian constitutional history. The unwillingness of the Supreme Court of Canada to uphold the rule of law by exercising its traditional supervisory role is even more disconcerting, especially since the decision was unanimous and not one of the judges who have reasoned so impeccably in previous cases bothered to write dissenting reasons. It is obvious that a great deal of advocacy and educational work remains to be done. The Khadr case is a stark reminder that mere ratification is not sufficient to ensure respect for international norms, even when they are as widely accepted as the prohibition against torture and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. My link Yes perhaps we can put his case in front of the veterns affairs office, one of the last soldiers to submit a injury claim is in our Bn , injured during a detention of IED mounted on a donkey, during this blast he recieved injuries to his legs and lost a testicle , Dept of VA offered to give him for all his troubles 1800.00 to which he is now repealing...his case is still pending after almost a year... But we are not talking about just 1800.00 , he will be seeking millions, because he is a Canadian citizen, who chose to fight on the wrong side of some map, again'st coalition soldiers, his rights were claimed to be violated, he has claimed to have been tortured....he has also claimed he has planted IED's and wished to kill as many allied soldiers as he could...proving he is one of Canada's finer outstanding citizens but wait it does not stop their there is an entire family of people just like em.... Who has contributed so much to our nation and to our collective....while our soldiers who all voluntered to serve our country, gladly agreeded to lay their lives down if required in that service, are being given a golden hand shake a small check, and release from one of the only things they love to do serve our country as a soldier....Justice from a soldiers piont of view sucks , but maybe we are on to something maybe we can give out huge rewards for terrorists, in hopes one day they will defend this nation as well as our soldiers did... -
What Canadians are you do you think he is talking about ? I've yet to come across a Canadian any Canadian that was starving to death, i've seen a few hungry ones but not starving....The type i was refering to were lower income, In my neiborhood it is hard to to spot upper, middle and lower class shopping in the same stores...not many to chose from...and you notice the types of things in their baskets....which is why i asked .....do you think it is more about choices...ie instead of buying a 40 dollar case of beer or a 90 dollar cartoon of cigs could it not be replaced with healthier food for their families....and if it is about these chioces why is that the governments fault....it is after all the type of nation we live in, we are free to make most chioces all by ourselfs.... As for obesity i agree the government could do more here , it is actually cheaper to by a big mac, big bag of chips, than it is a bag of apples, fruit, vegs....more education, new taxes etc..might change peoples minds...but when you look at the 3 classes i've seen far more obese persons in the middle and lower clases And while i may not be one of those thinking Canadians i , disagree with you monies spent on this reveiw would have been better spent on nations and people actually starving to death, not a nation that biggest food decision of the day is what fast food joint should i go to....

When we say access i'm assuming we are talking about not being able to afford nutrious food....which raises a few other questions. Is it a choice they make ....ie how many times have we seen people decide to spend that on something else other than drinking , gambling, on fast food or garbage food, luxery items what ever....so my question would be if we took these bad decisions out how many Canadians would still not be able to afford nutruious food. And i get it sometimes you just feel the need for something, and go out and buy it, atleast i do, but me and my family are lucky, and we have never been without the basic items ever, but if my family ever went hungry i'd be having a yard sale. I've yet to see a Canadian family on some NGO advertizment that looks like a third world one. Do we enable them i mean within Canada there are dozens of programs for kids to get good food, at school, local food bank, at work, town city and provincial government has programs....what incentives do we provide, to get off this assistaence, or for that matter, to make better chioces... As for the UN rubbing our faces in it. Like most articles i've read on the topic , i agree i'm sure there are bigger fish to fry, than Canada....but there is some truth into what this guys says, some truth not all, always room for improvement. Perhaps we can take that inter national Aid monies and improve our programs here at home....but i'm sure we don't want more big government coming in and telling us hey...sir, put the beer back, you got a family to feed, or sister place the big mac down there is better food out there for you....so where do you draw the line...
