  1. It seems to be the new thing these days , the more we involve ourselves in conflicts the more of a target we become.....Is there any proof to back up such a statement.....Has the any of those nations directly attacked Canada, because that would go with the other old thing that has been floating around here, What threats does Canada have.....They say none.... So what is it, do we have threats or is that all right wing hype.....or left wing hype quick hide your head they won't notice us....
  2. I think those pictures have made Canadians forget all that, instead of making a well thought out decision they are jumping at the heart strings which may bite them in the ass later.....I like the British response, not taking any of those already in safe zones, instead going directly to those countries which have set up camps.....in an effort of trying to keep them from making those deals with the smugglers to get them into europe.... to do the screening there makes sense....
  3. Please be patient with me as immigration is not a strong point, I thank you for the reports, but within your sources they seem to contradict themselves... one is saying immigrants are good over all for Canada, another says we spend over 25 bil a year on immigrants and will never see a positive return on that investment.....I'm just to find out what is there thinking behind saying that immigrants are good...both fiscally and population wise....and why are they pushing that Canada would be better off with 100 million , than with just say our current 40 million, as they are assuming that they will all be paying taxes similar to avg Canadians, and yet all your sources have disproved that theory....
  4. I gt the point your making, however your using it to show that Canada is no where the top of the list of accepting refugees, when Jordan has had theres for over 40 years now, kind of unfair comparison, also those countries are neibors to a war zone, and have not taken these people in permanently.....it might be interesting to see which countries are doing this..instead of just housing them in camps and shipping them out to others....
  5. Cybercoma: I read your source, and still can not find how they are sponsored, other than from the government. i find it hard to see where the benefit of immigrants come in... Is this the sponsorship you are talking about...granted these are in 2006 dollar costs, and we have since added millions more to these numbers....Sorry could not find the latest figures.... http://www.fraserinstitute.org/uploadedFiles/fraser-ca/Content/research-news/research/publications/immigration-and-the-canadian-welfare-state-2011.pdf From your orginal link.... Then there is this statement, which contradicts your early statement. That these investments we make in Immigrants may not be paying off even in future generations....Perhaps i'm not reading enough into it.....can you point me in the right direction.....
  6. Thanks.
  7. I see your graph clearly shows that those countries at the top of your list that have excepted refugees are next door to a conflict zone.... Jordan being number one, just a question though does your list include those refugees they've had for 40 years.....it just looks that way....
  8. Then please explain.....
  9. What kind of red tape are we talking about, it all over the media, even become a talking point from the opposition leaders.....so what is classified as red tape....if it was doing back ground checks, criminal record checks, past employment records, skills or education then i'm for it.....making sure we don't just open the flood gates hear onlt to find out later, one of these syrians was a member of a death squad, or terrorists......making sure we get the people we are looking for.....before we invest in them for not only their future but ours as well.... As for the pictures.....like Justin said you don't get compassionate over night....like they all did....even justin.... there is a system already in place, if it is red tape or delaying measures then i would agree with you, but if it is for security then i understand.....
  10. what kind of sponsorship are you talking about, your making it sound that every Immigrant does not have an effect on tax payers....
  11. You mean no direct threat to Canada....or her interests abroad.... And our military action in Iraq has made us a target.....how so exactly ? and how are we making things worse?
  12. Actually he said there needs to be a balanced approach, refugees, aid and seeing to the cause of the problem.
  13. Any one that works in Canada pays EI, those that also pay into a pension can not collect EI, unless they work once again in a job with no pension then they can apply for EI.....
  14. So what of the other sources that were produced by other posters here that are higher than those numbers by previous liberal governments, if they are true how can Harper being doing less.... I thought hours here in Canada were only limited to part time positions, that anyone could work as long or as hard as they wished as long as the company had the work available.....I've tried to find a source about the overtime, but can not....as over time policies varies from company to company...
  15. I did'nt see any barrel bombs being dropped, they are getting feed, have water, so the basics are being looked after....or are you suggesting they are not.
  16. I know eyeball, you'd be content with sticking your head in the sand, and forgetting everything that happens in other places in the world.....how did you react when you seen the picture of that little boy.....did it piss you off, or did you just change the channel its not our problem....
  17. And i thought they just want to evade from being killed in Syria....wanting a safer place for their families...
  18. I get that, but they are tied together are they not, i mean one can't do or afford to do both right say 100,000 refugees and 100,000 immigrants..... Can you provide a source as i had the understanding that no one could work for less than min wage, No, importing workers does not make sense at all, when Canadians are out of work or refused to work....... i agree the system needs to be fixed....
  19. . ISIL may have Republican guard members in it, but then again so has our population.... but what your suggesting is the whole sunni, shite problem has nothing to do with it....when that is one of ISIL main objectives nto carve it's own nation out.... Then answer my question why are they risking everything including their lives over and over again to get to deep europe.....why not set up camp in the first safe nation they land in....is turkey or greece unsafe countries ? what is motivating them to do that.... How is that even the latest report done by amnesty inter national have sated that NATO aircraft bombings are responsible for only 450 civilian deaths due to the bombings.....My question is then who is doing all the rest of the killing and in your opinion does that portion of this problem need to be addressed............and what your plans to stop the cause of the refugee flow....i mean you said it your self they are fleeing because they don't want to be killed.....but you plan is to let them kill each other off.....while we clean up the mess, accepting in those poor lost soles becuase they have no place to go......If we are not going to get involved , why even bother with Aid, and refugees.......
  20. I would think that 2.5 million accepted over Harpers term of office, would be enough, considering our total population numbers overall....what number would be acceptable to you ? I read your source , im confused as it does not say why the deportations are happening, are they here illegally, or claims been denied, could you please explain the numbers..... Is it Harpers fault that these cheap labor jobs are not being filled by Canadians.....is it Harpers fault that Canadians don't want to work for min wage..... Funny how even the NDP won't champion a raise to the overall Min wage , for all Canadians....But just to federal workers....i don't think there is a federal job that pays under 15 dollars a hour....
  21. Is that how you described it a delicate balance, interesting i mean because these guys were actually responsible for killing more of their citizens than was killed in the direct military action you say started this wave of refugees.... ISIL was always there, buried just beneath the surface kept in check, by Sadam through the use of force and death....The US did not create ISIL, it gave them the freedom to carry out their twisted version of Islam....thats is one of the draw backs of democracy.....it does not control its people with an iron thumb....But democracy is just for the west..... No the refugees are not looking for just safety...they have that in the first country they landed in....so why are they heading deeper into europe....why are they risking everything to get there.....when they have safety already..... And how do we solve this problem....because it is not going to stop any time soon.....do you think that immigration and aid will solve it....and what message becaue most believe that all the problems of this mess need to be addressed.....refugees, aid and boots on the ground.....if not we might as well just start empting out middle eastern countries and bowing to groups like ISIL, giving them everything they want.
  22. Full article: http://news.national...gee-application How so, there was no immigration application form, there was a letter pleading for help....i wonder how many letters, e-mails , or correspondence this minister gets in a day.....and how many he takes action on.....there is a process, and it needs to be adhere to for a shit ton of reasons.... It is tragic that a little boy has drowned in a boat trying to get to a better life....but he is one of hundreds of little boys and girls that have drowned, or been killed on this journey.....who do we fire for those deaths..... Other points suggests that this family was already in Turkey....away from the fighting and prosecution that they so desperately seeked.....so what was the motivation to risk it all over again to travel further into europe....was it safety.... was it a promise of a better life....what made them risk every thing including their lifes.....and who takes responsibility for those decisions.....
  23. So your saying 2.5 million people over Harpers term is not enough, considering we are a nation of just over what 40 million....2.5 million sounds a little high...
  24. How does that make any sense....in your mind you've already wrapped all the blame for these conflicts in a nice neat package and placed it at the feets of NATO and her allieds..and will not admit that these problems require more than just accepting refugees, and giving them little humanitarian packages.....it also requires to take direct action again'st those creating the problems.... If we had decided as a nation not to take direct action, do you really think the world would not be facing the crises we see on tv today......and what would be the repercussions of staying out of these conflicts.... to groups such as ISIL....do you think it would give them pause to rethink creating the nightmare they live in now....with no one being held accountable...thats the solution turn the other cheek, accept all these refugees without concerns , it is exactly what ISIL wants to ethnically cleanse a nation so they are free to live under their own twisted version of Islam.....
  25. According to the news Harper has said under the cons 2.5 million immigrants have made Canada home....
