  1. Is that a joke? Yeah, pretty much. It's not exactly legal to kill your wife, but it's not likely the authorities will make much of a fuss, and are pretty likely to accept whatever excuse for her death you give them.
  2. This is just dumbness on such a pure level that it's hard to do more than shake my head. Sure there are some white supremacists in the US, but once again, for a guy who's busy whining about other people thinking all Muslims are as bad as the worst, you seem to have no problem assuming all conservatives are as bad as the worst you can think of, even going back to Nazi Germany. You seem to be on the left side of the political spectrum. So I'm going to assume you want to set up gulags and take away all our rights and freedoms, then start executing anyone who disagrees with your ideological beliefs. That's on a par with your attitude.
  3. You know who else is a risk taker? Pirates, drug smugglers and dealers, thieves, killers. Risk taker? That's one way to look at it. You could also say these are the ones who don't care about the rules and only care about themselves, who are willing to break every rule, demand their way, and force their way where they aren't wanted to make themselves richer. And I'm talking about the ones making their way north into Europe, not the ones who simply crossed into Turkey to be safe.
  4. It's funny how you guys don't make the same claim about our contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.
  5. If you don't like Canadians you know, you're free to take up residence somewhere else.
  6. What's your solution, sport? I'm guessing it's a variation on do nothing and hope things get better.
  7. How is that thinly veiled? He's comparing Conservatives to the German Nazis.
  8. You seem to have a lot of trouble differentiating between groups of people even while suggesting that labeling groups of people is wrong. The difference between what you are calling 'the religious right' in Serbia and Nazi Germany, and the religious right in the United States are so profound it is like you're comparing the NDP to Pol Pot. And comparing them to the Reform party and Conservatives is even stupider, it's just dumb on an epic scale.
  9. Assad is no kind of Ally. But the West is now worried about what to do given that his disappearance would almost certainly let ISIS take over, and they would be even worse in all respects. Supporting him, on the other hand, is not really an option. It's a bloody mess. It's hard to see any good way out here. As bad as he is I think right now the best thing which could happen to Syria would be for him to win and wipe out all the rebels.
  10. From what I've read a lot of it is because of those barrel bombs he keeps dropping into civilian neighborhoods. Maybe a quick pass to wipe out his air force before the Russians arrive to protect him would help.
  11. Angela Merkel says migrants will 'occupy and change' Germany, and will cost 10 billion Euros next year alone.

So, why doesn't she tell the Americans to clean up their regime-change messes?

The idea the opposition response to this has been non-partisan is freaking hilarious!

WIP blames US for Syria. Why don't you take a second and learn some facts instead of puking out the tired diatribe of your bigoted clan mates?

  12. If you read the media I'm sure you've seen stories from time to time about phony refugees, about sudden big influxes of applications from certain relatively safe countries which necessitated the government requiring visas from those countries. And I've certainly read stories about immigration lawyers writing out boilerplate stories for 'refugee's to give to immigration review boards.
  13. You have a cite for this? To my knowledge there are no hard numbers for immigration. The government sets a scale of between X and Y, with Y being the maximum they will take. For example, in 2013 they set a goal of bringing in between 240,00 and 260,000. They admitted 258, 953. In 2014 they let in 260,404. So you have something else? No one was talking about the current situation till this weekend. Hard to say they dragged their knuckles on it. I think the logjam is that the policy says you have to be UN designated refugee, and the UN isn't designating these people as refugees. That will be given a work around soon, I'm sure. But that's not part of the immigration system anyway. You yourself have been quick to point out that the immigration and refugee systems are different, so I'm interested in knowing what you believe is wrong with the immigration system that you say Harper has failed there Assad has killed a lot more. Why? Haven't you been making the point we should let dictators like Saddam and Al-Assad alone to do whatever it is they want, and stop interfering?
  14. I was just watching the US network news. I flip around on them around 6:30 most nights, and it occurred to me how different their coverage is from the Canadian networks. There is a lot of coverage of what is going on, with multiple reports on each network. What is completely missing is any suggestion that the United States ought to be doing anything. There are no questions to politicians, nothing about what refugees the US is taking, no statements from American politicians, no protests from people demanding their government do anything. The US papers don't care either. None of the US political panel shows are paying any attention to it, let alone blaming Obama. There is no hand wringing going on, no guilty fingernail biting about what can be done. It's just treated as another foreign story.
  15. The governments reflect their religious beliefs. And yes, as far as I know, none of those countries have laws against what a man can do to his wife.
  16. What's wrong with the immigration system?
  17. What do you think he should have done given the crappy economic situation he found himself in? Do you think he should have cut spending by $40 billion in the middle of a terrible recession with double digit unemployment?
  18. I'm an intelligent person. Understanding that Muslim immigrants from Syria are going to behave quite differently from Vietnamese Asians doesn't really require a huge amount of intelligence, of course, but it requires some. And you still can't answer any questions without deflection and dodging. Why so frightened of honesty?
  19. I can't help noting you love to make grand statements but aren't very good at dealing with pointed questions.
  20. You emotionally overwrought liberals might not want to notice there is the slightest difference between people from different societies, cultures, nations and lands, but those with even a bare minimal of intelligence and judgement sure do.
  21. Isn't it against the rules to post the same stuff in multiple topics? Why should I have to point out your lack of context repeatedly? As I have already pointed out in the other topic, your list, if one reads it, shows Canada ahead of the US, the UK, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and most other western countries. Who is at the top of the list? Third world countries near the world's trouble spots and a couple of the Nordic countries presently in the process of converting from Christian democracies to Muslim theocracies..
  22. The boat people weren't Muslims.
  23. How do you know the refugees we have been refusing are genuine refugees as opposed to liars trying to jump the queue?
  24. That's a completely meaningless number without context.
  25. You didn't answer my questions.
