Both parties are talking about harsher penalties, which is good, but that still leaves one major problem; you gotta catch the bastards first. Take the Boxing Day Shooting, for example. They have two kids in custody, out of an estimated 10 or 15 who were shooting. It is uncertain as to whether the 2 in custody did any of the shooting. Hard to impose a tough penalty when the perpetrators are still out on the street.

Is gang rape a part of Islamic culture?
PocketRocket replied to Argus's topic in The Rest of the World
A truly disturbing, and disturbed, attitude. Screw all the "white whores" that you can, then marry a well-trained robot. Just gotta make sure the robot is a virgin when you marry her. These guys need help. Castration would be a good start. -

Canadian Politicians at it again.....
PocketRocket replied to America1's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Talk to people that live in rural area of Canada. Talk to farmers in northern Ontario. To hunters and wilderness outfitters. Hell, talk to me. I consider gun ownership a right of any law-abiding citizen. But with that right comes responsibility. Both must be considered. -

You have a good memory. Full autos are still quite rare, and the odds that someone is carrying one to to a burglary in the middle of the night are quite low. Nonetheless, most people that carry haven't had extensive time practicing, either outdoors or at a range. One bullet or a hundred, only the one that finds its target counts. I'm quite comfortable with the armament I currently have. -
Oh PLEASE, there's got to be about a dozen threads already open on SSM. Let's not start it again HERE. If you feel that strongly about it that you feel you NEED to discuss it right now, then go revive one of those old threads, or start another on the topic.

Actually, with d'ough you can also make d'onuts, which makes this "d'ough" particularly appropriate for Homer.

neo=prefix meaning "new". con=abbreviation of "conservative" Being that the guy is purportedly onyl 46 years of age, it'd be pretty tough for him to be anything but a new conservative. "neocon" Another meaningless catch phrase.

Don't be shy, ARGUS, tell us what you REALLY thought of these guys You're just a warm and loving human being aren't you??? Sorry, I couldn't resist. Seriously, I have to agree in a lot of ways, especially about Harper's lack of charisma. But I'm not as sure as you are about the Cons inability to run the country into debt. This election is probably going to be the toughest decision I've ever had to make at the polls. It's a case of voting for one guy I don't like, or another guy I don't like. Maybe Radio Shack should come out with a "Hate-O-Meter" so we can instantly KNOW exactly who we hate worse.

199 Reasons Not to Vote Liberal
PocketRocket replied to mowich's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yeah. Somebody posted that whole pile of pooh here not too long ago. It didn't get much attention then either. -
Well, to paraphrase Homer Simpson, "D'ough!!!!!"

Awww, gee. Now I'm blushing I think I'll have to step ootside for a breath of fresh air.

Canadian Politicians at it again.....
PocketRocket replied to America1's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Hello. I am Canadian, and proud of it. I think I have the right to own a gun, or whatever the hell else I want to own, provided I don't use it to harm anyone else. I do, in fact, own more than one firearm, and am quite proficient in their use. And I pity the poor bastard who breaks into my house in the middle of the night. -
Personally, I find myself "needing" dough a lot more than "kneading" it.

We probably "accept" it because 1))) It's not that big a deal 2))) Can't change people's perceptions 3))) I actually find it amusing, and it can be an easy ice-breaker

43% of Albertan's and 36% of the West
PocketRocket replied to rbacon's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The fact that you've been a member here for 5 years, and yet have such a low post count, combined with the fact that at election time you show up to create numerous partisan posts, mostly hyperbole with little substance, and additionally, are abusive to the intelligence of other posters, gives lie to this claim. -
Why we must prevent Harper from becoming PM
PocketRocket replied to emailforcanada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You're right, and we'll see it, indeed already are seeing it, from both sides. For examples of this, just go check out all the threads started by RBACON in the past couple days. Others are doing the same, I used him(her??) as an example simply because I noticed all those Bacon posts today. -
In my job I talk to a lot of Americans on the phone. If the "out" in "about" is not over-emphasized, like in "wow", then they seem to think it sounds like "ooh".

No new money for immigration

I'm not the one claiming that over $20B was spent in this way. Tradition and common courtesy dictate that the person making the claim cites a source. -
Rotten is the only verdict for Paul
PocketRocket replied to lenwick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So what we have here is a columnist who thinks he's a wit (he's half-right) calling names, but saying nothing of substance, and another guy(girl???) who posts the text of the column without offering any specifics, or an opinion. Gotta be at least a dozen similar threads started in the past 2 or 3 days. I know, I know, I shouldn't feed the trolls, but I felt I needed to make this observation. -
Good things come to those who wait. I only posted this a little while ago. I'm sure someone will upbraid me about it sooner or later. Hey, all I did was say I thought the poem was in bad taste. If other people are going over the top with it, don't blame me. Well, I think you just said that you agree with me, without actually saying it. Maybe we'll both get blasted together. Isn't togetherness wonderful Well, there you go. There had to be a good reason for it

PocketRocket replied to rbacon's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Wow. Could you possibly spew any more hyperbolic bile??? FYI, you don't convince someone to vote for your guy by engaging in long, poisonous tirades, but rather by showing how your choice would be better for the country as a whole, and for individuals as well. -
When I'm at work, I don't have a bloody minute to spare to come here. I've been on a leave of absence for health reasons, which is why I've been here more often of late, but that all ends in another 2 weeks.

From the same article..... Can anyone say "trend"??? It sems growingly obvious that most of the targets are somehow related to crime. I have little problem with gangsters killing each other off. The problem is innocents getting caught in the crossfire. How the hell do you sleep through "several" gunshots fired outside your bedroom window???
